| They think that it could get stronger.. Just heard on the news that a very strong band is coming on shore, so in about 30 to an hour, we'll be getting some nasty weather for a bit. And now we have Ivan to worry about later on...it's still off the coast of Africa, but...man, this has been one odd hurricane season...and they peak of it isn't for another week. Colleen, I e-mailed you. Maybe I have an old addy, I'm not sure. I e-mailed a few here, but only two people e-mailed me back (you rock!!!).  Anyway, I don't feel like repeating myself, so I'm going to post my journal about the hurricane soon. This was one of the slowest hurricanes in history, and you thought getting hit by two hurricanes within three weeks was bad....Ivan is set to hit us and it's going to be worse than the other two. I'm highlt thinking about going to Ohio or Atlanta for this one. Mentally, I don't think I could take this one. Hey Sion, if you don't think a hurricane is bad, you should do a google search and look at some pictures. This hurricane, West Palm Beach, which is north of me, got hit. We here got some damage aswell, but nothing that major, since we were to the left of the storm, which is the weak side. I just hope that Ivan doesn't hit us...if it does, I'll be MIA this next weekend as well.  Edit: Lost power for four days, BTW and within those four days, I got about six hours of sleep. | Yea, but the odds of getting hit by two haven't happened since the 1950's, and that just happened. Images from Frances Aftermath pics On this set, make sure you look at picture number 17. I've seen that before with another hurricane that I went through when I was 12. Early part of Frances Central Florida which is Kirbynite's area. | This is just sad: ~~ More Than 170 Items Listed On e-Bay POSTED: 6:32 am EDT September 7, 2004 For anyone who didn't get enough of Hurricane Frances, remnants of the storm are for sale. More than 170 items are listed on e-Bay's Internet auction site after the eye of the Category Two storm came ashore. The starting bid for Tupperware filled with wind was a penny. Photos show Broward County residents running around catching the wind. A $10 bid is in. Somebody had bid $6.99 for beach sand collected by a Broward County surfer. Three Frances survivors bid 15 cents each to have a woman pray for them. One-cent vials of rain that fell in Orlando drew no bids, and nobody was looking for the T-shirt a woman wore through the storm. ~~ I could make a lot of money....let me just go to the beach really fast...anyone want to buy some sand? XD Also, about 1.3 million people are still without power, and about 3 million people in total were in the dark at some point during the hurricane. |

| Lets see, schools are going to finally open up today, people are still without power, we're in a gas shortage now, so another hit wouldn't be good for anyone at this point. I heard that a total of 18 people have died due to this hurricane. Actually, this is the first time that I am hearing that Ivan might hit another state besides my own. But we should know more come this Thursday. Here is the five day track that it could take.~~ Hurricane Ivan continues to march westward, keeping it on a course that could threaten the United States in four to five days. Forecasters said Tuesday it's still too early to say how much of a threat Hurricane Ivan poses for storm-ravaged Florida. Ivan strengthened late Tuesday to a Category 4 -- the second most powerful rating -- as it appeared set to bear down on Jamaica by Thursday. At 8 a.m. EDT, the hurricane's center was about about 190 miles east of Bonaire, Netherlands Antilles and it was moving west near 16 mph. Hurricane-force winds of 140 mph extended up to 70 miles from the center and tropical storm-force winds another 160 miles. The storm riled up battering waves and the Hurricane Center warned it could cause storm flooding of 3-5 feet above normal tides with 5-7 inches of rain that could cause flash floods and mudslides. Ivan was centered at latitude 12.5 north, longitude 65.5 west Wednesday morning. Ivan -- now a Category 4 storm -- made a direct hit on Grenada Tuesday. The storm blasted apart scores of homes and hurled hundreds of the island's landmark red zinc roofs through the air. There were no reports of injuries in Grenada, but emergency officials could not be reached. Earlier Tuesday, the storm blew off roofs, downed trees and forced officials to cut power on Barbados. Ivan's sustained winds were clocked at 120 mph as it raced through the Windward Islands. They've now reached 135 mph. The storm could reach Cuba by Friday and has the potential to follow a path similar to Frances. Both storms formed as tropical storms near Cape Verde off the African coast, an area known as a breeding ground for storms that become big hurricanes. Ivan's sustained winds were clocked at 120 mph Tuesday as the storm raced through the Windward Islands but gained strength to 135 mph with higher gusts Tuesday night. Forecasters say Florida residents cannot drop their guard against Ivan. The longer-range forecast maps show Ivan cross western Cuba and going into the Gulf of Mexico early Sunday morning. This might vary north or south, since forecasting is difficult more than a couple of days out. But forecasters look for the forward speed to be reduced by the weekend. | Here in Arizona, downtown Tempe becomes flooded with costumed adults. the best part is when the chicks go as barely clothed fairies or something. Head down to South Beach then. We get that everynight. Half the time though, it's the guys that are dressed up. |
