Chris just rented the game, and thus far, looks damn good. There's even a story mode as well as other and different ways you can play this game. |

It's still pretty much off shore right now...got a few tails last night/early moring, but they said that it should get nasty again around six....while I'm at work...I swear, I might close up early...I don't care what others say, I don't want to drive in that mess, even if it's only a 20 minute drive from here to work. |

You know, I was wondering, why do storms evn HAVE names?? Like Isabel. Why not just call it 'the big bad storm'?? |
Because during hurricane season, there's too many (sometimes all at once) so you can't just call it by one name or what have you. Anya, do you have some sort of refuge, like a bomb shelter for this kind of thing, or is it not that severe? Nope. I'm just gonna go outside with my kite and hopefully the wind will carry me to work.  No, really, I've been through worse, head on hurricanes, this one is coming from the westside of Florida (I'm on the south). We're still gonna get some shit from it, but it's been worse.

from my journal: We all think that the Ft. Lauderdale area has this some type of shield around it. When Andrew came, we got lucky, when any other tropical storm or hurricane came after that, we were lucky. They said that Charley was the biggest and strongest hurricane since Andrew in 1992. And somehow, all we got was that one nasty gust of wind and rain on early Friday morning, at around 3am. I kept watching the radar while at home and then at work, and when a cell came close to us, it would either break up, or move more north. Now this reminds me that I need to call dad, they were very close to the eye, in the Ft. Myers area. Dad is sleeping but I talked to Grandma, who said that their house is alright. Another member of the family, said that this huge tree just missed thier house, but knocked down a power line, a long one that ran down the whole street. Grandma told me that they've been out of power and water since yesterday, and that's not safe in the summer when it gets up to over 90 degrees. She also mentioned that two hospitals had to evactuate and there is a lot of damage due to the wind.

Sony has confirmed that its next console will make use of the "Blu-Ray" format, a new technology capable of holding five times more than a DVD disc. The news comes fresh on the heels of progress this week toward a creating a standard for consumer equipment using the technology. |
Blu-Ray is so named for the blue laser, a more accurate replacement for the current red laser. Discs using the format can hold up to 27 gigabyetes of information, though the version being chosen by Sony and other companies such as Dell and Matsushita (Panasonic in the U.S. and Gamecube technology partner) looks to hold 23GB. Manufacturers recently met to decide a read-only standard for the format. This is the next step required before Blu-Ray players can be developed and released, which is expected to happen by next spring. Those concerned about growing PS2 and DVD collections need not worry, as Blu-Ray is backward compatible with DVDs. info found here

Star Wars games publisher confirms laying off staff and moving Episode III development off-site. KOTOR 3 development stalled. Responding to yesterday's reports that it had laid off staff, LucasArts today said in a statement that it was undergoing "a major restructuring of its development studio." A notice on the company's Web site outlined some of the restructuring's details, including layoffs of 31 staffers and the appointment of Peter Hirschmann as vice president of product development. Hirschmann, a two-year LucasArts vet and former Electronic Arts producer, had been managing the development of Star Wars: Battlefront and Mercenaries. Sega will release an Xbox version of Sonic Mega Collection Plus, in addition to a previously announced PlayStation 2 version. Xbox owners will also be getting their hands on the large compilation of Sonic the Hedgehog games to be released this holiday season. Sega has announced that it will release Sonic Mega Collection Plus for Microsoft's console in November. The game will retail for $19.95. The Xbox version includes all 17 Sega Genesis and Game Gear games in the previously announced PlayStation 2 version, and it will also contain art and comics in the game's "Sonic Museum."
