Basically to complete the game we'd need item data, enemy data, and overworld map data. That's what's missing from the hack.

realized with the execption of Kamikaze (kind of) no one ever made a hack of SMB that is just one gigantic level. So I'm thinking about making one, but I need some help. Can anyone help point me in the direction of getting the status bar not to print the world or time, and how to not have the ground tiles repeat ontop of eachother.

Example of what I mean for the floor tiles would be instead of
B4 B5
B6 B7
B4 B5
B6 B7

I would want:

I'm going with SMW-style GFX for the hack, so I wanted to have grass on the top of the ground and dirt under that, so visually my little hex diagram would look like this.

OH! Thanks! Yeah that's fine, I could probably sacrafice a piece of the title screen too since I'm making a new one, but for now let's just say I'll use the tree tops.

As far as updates go, I've done some of the GFX.

Ah Oh well. If I can use the SMW Morton Kooopa that I want the ground I have right now will work. (If I can use Morty it's going to be called Super Mario Brothers: Morton Koopa's Gauntlet) The mechanic looking ground would fit the feel for the hack well.

Roy Koopa. I was wrong, it wasn't Morton like I thought. Roy Koopa was the one I could get. So yeah, the name of this hack is Roy Orbison Koopa's Greuling Gauntlet.

Oh trust me lol Section 1 is not challenging at all lol I plan on making it progressively harder as time goes on, but section one is very easy. To demonstrate what I mean, the first trial of fire is just 2 fire rods and a podboo, the final section (which is where you face Roy Koopa) will also be the final trial of fire, but it will span most of the level and include some very difficult situations. I don't like making the downright challenge hacks, I like trying to make fun situations.

Keitaro, yeah I noticed that too. I actually am using those GFX in my SMB hack. I was hoping they would be new, but they ended up just being SMB3 gfx lol

Okay I have no idea what I'm missing or doing wrong here, but when I load up the ZAMN editor all I get is a blank screen, and it crashes whenever I try to change levels. Can someone tell me what's happeneing?

I found my old Castlevania hack just laying around my computer collecting dust, and I realized how much I like the GFX so I might finish the last two levels and release it. If anyonw wants they can use any or all of the GFX when it's done.

All that's left is the inside of the Clock Tower and it's all done, I anticipate it will be finished tonight!

Yes, you do need two YY-CHR programs open at once to edit multiple games, which I actually perfer. I like to keep everything seperate, that way I can draw on a blank slate with one YY-CHR and experiment with different palletes, and then insert the GFX with the other YY-CHR. No matter how many games I have open, I always have a blank YY-CHR to arrange stuff on to make sure my tile ideas don't suck (Like if I'm making an 8x8 tile or something or 16x16 in case of the big skull in my CV hack)

I'm done with my CV GFX hack, and before you say "So what? all you did was GFX" trust me, there was a ton of level editing that went into getting these GFX to work.
I didn't feel right just releasing a GFX only hack, so I decided to hop on photoshop and make something special. Along with the patch is a 13 page instruction booklet! So enjoy all the fun stuff, and don't forget to read the README!.txt file

Yeah, but I wanted him to have black boots, and with the darker levels, you wouldn't be able to see his feet without the red.
