Kasumi: The active mod argument doesn't really apply to all situations. For example, Emuz is the owner of the Akron server. Or, plot advancement. In HHGttG, when Ford and Arthur are ejected from the Vogon ship, the Heart Of Gold appearing was Deus Ex Machina. Hell, I think the whole Improbability Drive is powered by Deus Ex Machina.
