OOC: Open challenge to the first poster here. Stanard rules, but keep in mind the plot and setting of this fight. It's been a while since I've thrown an open challenge, but I want to make this one interesting. Good luck.

"Yes Sensae?"

Schwa approaches the ruler of Psi Warriors slowly.

"Schwa, I have a mission for you. Do you know of the Techno Base located in the middle of Longhorn Sea?" A holographic map appears nearby, powered by Sensae's Psi. They are in Crystal Psipalace, HQ of the Psi Warriors.

"I've heard of it a few times... It's pretty mysterious."

"It's been abandoned for quite some time, but a week ago it became active again. I want you to investigate the Base. But first..."

"Yes?" Schwa waits in anticipation for Sensae's 'extra'.

"You will meet someone outside the base. I want you to spar with that character, as he/she will be absolutely essential for your victory. Learn all you can in this battle, and use what you've learned to get through the Base."

Pause. Then, "Thank you, Sensae. I'll leave immediately."
---------------------------

A streak of blue ether rockets through the air... It's a figure in futuristic armor riding a crystal disc. The streak rockets above Longhorn Sea, circling over a white building in the water below...

The outside of the Base is like the surface of an Aircraft Carrier, slightly... It has the flat spot in the center for airships to land, and a huge tower in the northwest corner of this surface. The southwest corner has a large grid of hexagon-shaped platforms, all at slightly different elevations but all adjacent to one-another. There is a large cube on the center-east of the surface, on it a large, high-tech door that leads into the Base (which will not be used during the battle). And on the northeast corner of the surface are many, many winding rails that all spiral and twist their ways to a smaller, seperate surface about 39 feet away from the main surface. All walls and surfaces in this arena are a nice, metallic white and occasional grey.

It would be a curious thing for the one outside the Base to see this figure in the air... who is circling down to this Base to carry out his mission...

"Okay... There's someone outside this Base I'm supposed to battle to learn something important. But who?" Schwa thinks.

"Whoa!"

Schwa leaps off the disc and freefalls to the base below, falling away from the first few shots. He lands on his feet, and in midair his disc and armor had dissolved, revealing Schwa's real attire; white, loose clothes and a jet-black blindfold.

"Hello, reploid... Nice to see you again. Sensae warned me we'd have to fight... You think you're finally ready to take me in a one-on-one?"

Schwa steps forward once, and his hands flare up with blue ether. He gracefully assumes offensive stance.

"You can't take a Psi Warrior without honor. Even reploids have honor, you know. 'Sides, what brings you to this base, anyway? You're the last character I'd expect to fight here. For God's sake, I hope this isn't a revenge thing!

"But I'm rambling. I've learned new moves, and I'm finally ready to take you on. Hit me with all you've got."

Schwa makes the 'bring it on' hand motion. He's fought Dracoon before and lost, so this time he feels he needs to defend his pride.

"Not long, in fact I believe it's over. But to answer Kire's question, indeed I have met both APH and Schwa. APH was an immature fighter as he 'had' to be fighting, otherwise he was bored. Schwa was very mysterious, and I don't know a lot about him.

"But yes, our intermission is over. Let us continue to blast each-other silly."

Korra begins charging electrical energy into his right arm, waiting for a response from one of the other fighters. Ami is sitting on a rock.

"Korrachi, that wasn't a very long intermission. I still need to take a break."

"What? A 'break'? What's a 'break'?" Korra says 'Break' real smarmily.

"No mind games, Korrachi. You fight alone for a while."

"Meh... Very well." He refocuses his attention on the fight. Though Ami is not fighting, she will immediately go back to battle if Korra is injured.

OOC: Edit of improper move.

But the ice shards don't melt. They're made of a sacred ice used to shoot Pheonix in the heart, and fire doesn't affect them that bad (unless the fire was magical, blessed or sacred in some way, like the ice).

Tuxydon looks up at the fire.
"Uh-oh..."

He makes a dash for it, doing his best to get out of the way of where the awful spell will strike.

I probably wouldn't want a Mario universe pet, but a FRIEND... well...

I'd probably go with something that's not on there... and say Chain Chomp, by far!!! Those things, man... They're made of pure steel, even their organs, they seem viscious but once trained, you have a demon tank at your disposal. My friend Chain Chomp and I would sign up at the Glitz Pit, battle our way to the top and duke it out with Rawk Hawk himself... We'd split the winnings and buy stuff to throw a party with our other friends. Yes, I can see it... We'd have champane, hammer-throwing contests, Pin the Fireflower on the ? Block, and a bunch of Dizzy Dials to power the carosel out back! What a party!

Or I could go with a second approach, and say Buster Beetle... a small but deadly warrior. These things are feisty, I've heard, and having one as a friend would probably very well be a life-changing experience. Has there ever been a social misfit in your school, but once you talk to him or her you learn a lot? That's what this would be like. Buster Beetles are misfits among the Mario universe, scowled upon by many... It would do to make one feel loved. Who knows? Maybe that would cause other Buster Beetles to feel safer.

And finally, as a 3rd option... Why of course, the Dark Lakitu! A little info on the Dark Lakitu-- it rides a raincloud and throws Blue Spinies. This kind of guy, as a friend, would be the type who'd beat up those tyring to mob you in a dark ally. He's "got your back". But that's not why I'd want him as a friend... Dark Lakitus are EXTREMELY rare, as most Lakitus ride regular white clouds, and if we ever decided to go Glitz Pit, I'd help him learn some water attacks in battle. That way he could clear out any status conditions I'd get, plus that water would do some heavy ranged damage as well (think Sushie in Paper Mario 1).

Wait a sec... Chain Chomp AND Dark Lakitu and I in the Glitz Pit! We'd be an unstoppable trio! Of course, when the time would come to face the Rawk himself, I'd have to go it alone and be honorable. But still, I may be on to something!

Actually, Fettster, Roy AND Ludwig made the quakes. Ludwig was a decently difficult boss, but his LEVEL was VERY difficult!! But I voted Ludwig because he's the wacko of the bunch... I mean, who on earth nowadays is called Ludwig?? This is actually Bowser's fault, since they're HIS kids and HE named 'em...

Oh, speaking of which, whatever happened to Bowser's wife? I mean, Bowser has 7 kids, and they didn't just appear out of nowhere! .... ....didn't they?

Want help on the blue Mushroom House? Play Super Mario Advance 4. Beat the whole game once, then go back to the right worlds an a gold octogon block with a coin on it will be at the start. Hit it once, and a coin countdown will appear at the bottom-left of the screen. Just get the number of coins it says to, and the number turns into a Blue Mushroom House, indicating one will appear on the overworld map once you beat the level.

ONLY works on SMA4. Remember that!

(This thread should be stickied.)

Hello, friends and Mario fans. As you may have probably guessed, I am a natural writer. As such, I must constantly be exercising my mind creatively to stay sane, be it Rom hacking, making sprite-comics, posting here, or... you guessed it, writing. It was a Saturday afternoon, and I felt that irresistable urge to write again. That's when a brilliant idea came to my mind, one that will allow me to write creatively every other weekend. That is what I am about to introduce to you... Ladies and gentleman, I give you the SMB3 vs. SMB2 Arena!

What is the SMB3 vs. SMB2 Arena, you ask? It's a battle arena for Mario creatures to duke it out. Every 2 weeks, a battle will take place here, but 2 weeks before that battle you will get to see what it looks like. The fighters will come out, the setting will be determined, then you all have 2 weeks to choose the team you want to win. Keep in mind the items each team carries, how the terrain will affect the characters and their fighting styles, the size of the field, and each team's advantages/disadvantages. Note that the fight will be predetermined, it won't be biased on the number of votes each team receives.

And after 2 weeks, I'll write you guys the battle, and you'll get to see who wins. Then the next battle's fighters and arena will be set for the next battle 2 weeks from now. This way, I can stay on top of things through creative writing, and you'll benefit from it as you'll have a lot of fun stories to read!

So what's the purpose of choosing the winning team correctly? Good question, so I'll throw in the added bonus of allowing bets to take place. Anyone who wants to bet coins on a team for the first time will start with 100 coins... You can bet any number of coins on a fighting team (except decimal numbers, of course), and if your team wins, you'll get more coins back. (In every battle I'll say how much times correct bets will be multiplied.) If the team loses, no coins are given back. Once you're out of coins, you can't bet any more, UNLESS someone else chooses to give you coins, which is perfectly legal.

Hey, this is coming along pretty good! But we haven't even started yet. I'll now post the first Battle...

In the red (left) corner: Porcu-Power! Three Porcupo with one Mushroom to share amongst themselves. (Yes, items are 1-time uses, don't forget.)

In the blue (right) corner: The Buster Bros.! Three Buster Beetles with a total of 3 White Blocks. Remember, they THROW the White Blocks.

As you can see, the red corner consists of SMB2 enemies, and the blue corner consists of SMB3 enemies. This will always be the case.

So, friends, you have the following 2 weeks to post in this thread your vote on the team you want to win. Remember, betting is OPTIONAL, and all new betters begin with 100 coins.

Last note: This is basically role-playing we're talking about, and likewise the fighters are NOT just limited to their functions in the video-games. Keep that in mind before voting, will ya?

So, vote away! Any further questions I will be only too happy to answer to.

To HFRyan: Just to clarify... One hit from a White Block would PROBABLY not wipe out a Porcupo in one hit. In these battles, the characters fight more realistically than the video-game, in fact their laws of physics are very different from those in the games. Remember that!

"Now WAY will I let you do that! I am SCHWA!!!"

On "SCHWA", rainbow-colored ether flares up over Schwa's whole body, stretches across the beam and dissolves it. Schwa has ALSO hit Full Power, being aided by thousands and thousands of his dead Psi Warrior comrades who are sending him their power through the Etheral Dimmension. The ether he sent, which contains energy from all those Psi Warriors, had just enough pure Good energy to cut through the Evil energy contained in the soul-stealing beam and destroyed it-- but not before the beam dealt quite a stress on Schwa's physical body. He's barely hanging on, but he doesn't show it.

"I can do this. Destiny says so! "Crimson Bubble!" (echo effects)

Schwa throws red ether into the center of the room, which forms into a ball. Then the ether quickly jumps over to Ghost and orbits him exactly like the blue wisps did earlier.

"Time is my ally," Schwa quetly says to himself, awaiting Ghost's next move. "Just a bit longer..."

OOC: Hint on what Crimson Bubble does... I'm guessing this battle will end up in a double KO. That's just a GUESS, though.

FYI, about an hour ago I finished writing the battle. I can't say to any of you who won, but I can guarantee that I never decide the winner ahead of time; I write one thing, that leads to something else, which in turn leads to something else... The winner chooses itself.

During Dracoon's speech, Schwa was slowly charging lavender ether-- lavender, Love ether, the most defensive type. As Dracoon fires, Schwa crosses his arms over his chest and his whole body flares up with it. The shot slams him, but it knocks him back only one step, doing almost no damage.

"And I have gotten stronger as well. But know this... you STILL have a heart."

Schwa does a high jump straight up, in midair turns into a diving position, then coats himelf with blue ether. Then, at lightning speed, Schwa rockets to the ground straight at Dracoon, and tries striking across the head. If it were to hit, Schwa could use that as leverage to backflip minorly and land directly in front of Dracoon. The attack has good melee attack power, one of Schwa's stronger melee attacks.

"You have sealed your own fate, spirit."

Schwa takes the hit of the beam... As soon as it hits, it greatly damages him. But that seems to be his plan... For as soon as that happens, the red ball surrounding Ghost expands, then shrinks, and as it shrinks it showers Ghost with countless orange wisps! This is known to do exactly the same amount of damage Schwa received.

And since Ghosts attack is continuous, it will continue to do that much damage to Ghost with an endless supply of wisps until the attack is cancelled!

And finally, this attack is not Holy... It's Energy-type, otherwise known as Non-Elemental.

At this point, Schwa doesn't care if he's KO'd by this circumstance... He's confident the Crimson Bubble will finish Ghost.

Surrounding himself in white ether, Schwa does a side-flip to dodge the flames, but gets scorched in the shoulder and right arm. The ether doesn't reduce elemental damage, but it did prevent him from catching fire.

"Anyone with a soul has a heart. You do have a soul, as you were built from Dracoonx4... And that can only mean that you have a heart.

Emotional Rockets!" (echo effects)

Floating next to Schwa appear three cones of energy-- one blue, one yellow, and one red.

"And no, I don't remember where you got Flame Thrower from. But either way, these rockets will prove you have a heart and a soul."

Schwa stands ready for Dracoon's next attack. He knows Dracoon doesn't mess around in battle.

To BabyBowser: HP is out of the question. If Porcupo existed in real life, how much punishment do you think they could take?

To Darth Xeodious: I know I've said this before-- Video game physics are OUT! A White Block wouldn't travel through the other Porcuop like in the game... In these battles, getting hit with a White Block would be the equivelent of getting smacked with a huge brick in real life. That would probably seriously injure a human, but a Porcupo, being slightly protected with their spiked fur, wouldn't suffer THAT bad, but still the White Block is a pretty powerful weapon in the Mario universe.

You want stats? Fine, here you go. 5 stars is highest level, 1 star is lowest.

Buster Bros.:

Schwa knows how to deal with this attack. Before the fissure can reach him, he does 2 graceful backflips and lands on the hexagonal pillar-steps in the corner of the Base balcony. The rockets stay close to him.

"I know you did. After all, you helped me recover my body when Yiusi posessed me for the first time. That was a selfless act. But we'll see, won't we? Sorrow Rocket, attack!"

He points at Dracoon, and the yellow rocket speeds toward him, homing in. These rockets aren't affected by elemental attacks. If this hits, it will cause either poison or a slow condition. (Special kind of poison-- an emotional poisoning, affects the soul rather than the body, but can be cleansed just like any other poison.) The rocket should hit him just before the flames sweep back to Schwa.

Uh-oh, wait a sec...

Xeodious, the stats don't tell you EVERYthing... Some of it's their individual skill, and some of it's even luck! Those are two things you won't know until the battle starts.

Remember, I wrote the battle yesterday, so none of what you say will change how it'll roll...
