Yeah, Hyperhacker... I was hoping you'd help me. You seem to have tons of knowledge of the SMW Rom, and I can tell because of your Sprite Editor program... (which, although I like, am not using in this hack) By any chance, do you know what offset I am to change to change the level counter? Either that or is there another way? Darkflight told me about a thread stating that question, and I suppose I could look there, but I was wondering if you actually know.

A quick note to you guys... I learned a new feature of the Editor last night! It's the Layer 1 Events. Up till now I've made all my paths using Layer 1 Normal Editing, but I discovered that to get some of my tricks to work (like the Star Warp that appears back in World 1 later on), I need the Layer 1 Event Paths. And it's HARD! I have to have 4 dimmensions memorized at once now! Yeah, just a little fun info there...

Schwa stops freaking out Fenrir (or trying to, more like) and heads over to UGrey. "What are you talking about, anyhow? Some kind of creativity award? What's this 'thread bombing'? You people are always using terms I can't understand..."

Hi guys, I was wondering... On the first post of this thread it gives one offset for Morton, Roy and Ludwig's HP and another offset for Lemmy and Wendy's HP. But the latter is a 6-digit number starting with 7, and it's nonexistent in the Rom. I was thinking it may be a typo. Could anyone either A) fix it to give me the real address, or B) if it's not a mistake, explain to me why I'm acting like such a nOOb.

Thanks guys. --Schwa

Guys, I want you to take a look at something.

Okay, notice the Star Warp? That leads to Yoshi Sanctuary. I made it to be there right from the beginning, but it's inaccessable until you beat Tower 2 (Grove Tower). It's there, but there's no road there until you beat Tower 2. When Tower 2 is beaten, a road appears (the one displayed in the screen) that allows you to warp to Yoshi Sanctuary.

Behold!

THIS is Yoshi Sanctuary, carved from the remains of our friend the Special World. The levels up on top can't be accessed until the respective Towers from each World are beaten. Every time a Tower is beaten, a road appears that allows you to go to the next level in the chain. These levels are extras; nothing happens when you beat them, except you get some special powerup or prize.

The stars at the bottom are the Yoshi Palaces before they've been beaten in the overworld. Yoshi Palaces are very hard to unlock, and once you find one, they're very hard levels. (I can't decide if I should use ExGfx for those levels or not. I want to use them for SOMEthing, but I don't know if it would ruin the consistancy of the hack.) You beat a Palace, and it appears in the Yoshi Sanctuary! Once all 7 have been beaten, they create a chain that leads to a shortcut to Bowser Land, with only 1 level standing in the way of Bowser's Castle.

And what's the ring of stars in the middle of the map? That's FINALE. This level appears once you've beaten the single level after taking the shortcut. Beat this level and the game converts to Special World mode (just as if you've passed Special World).

Update: I just made the bosses a whole lot harder. Roy, Morton and Ludwig take 5 hits each now, and Iggy and Larry are harder to knock off the platform. Wendy and Lemmy have more obstacles to dodge while you fight them, but they both still have 3 hits.

THANK YOU all for giving me the addresses for that data. I say again, this community is awesome.

What I wanted to do with the Yoshi Sanctuary was reveal the levels as the Towers were beaten, but I discovered that only 1 tile could be revealed per event. That's why I made the Star Warp visible from the beginning. However, you can reveal an infinite number of new PATHWAYS per event, as long as they're on a different map than your current one, so I just went to town with that.

So, instead of the levels revealed one by one, the roads are.

Korra gets up, having been knocked to the ground violently by Sabafang's agile attack, only 2 feet from the white tiger.

"Hey Tiger buddy, your master Nimue really has a sense of honor. What about you?"

Korra leaps at it and performs a roundhouse to it's head. He has no knowledge of the wind-attack that is about to hit him. Ami does, however, and hovers in front of Korra as her crystal flashes. The flash dampens the intensity of the attack (it had to have been somewhat energy-based because of the energy used in Nimue's fan) and she takes some of the damage. She then retaliates by hovering around Nimue and firing beams in between her quick movements. (3 are fired in total, all from different agles and at different times.) Ami hopes her speed will help her evade as well...

Korra is still equipped with Mirror Beam.

OOC: Whoopsie. I was thinking halberd for some odd reason. Lemme try this again...

Knowing an edged weapon is the hardest to take on using the shark knife, Tuxydon tries a different tactic.

The item he draws now he only carries occasionally. It's a tiny stick made of an unknown material. He spins it and throws it in the air, and it extends in length until it's as long as the rapier Kalar wields. Tuxydon catches it again.

"Fine, I'll play your game first, then you play mine."

Tuxydon sheaths the shark knife and wields the staff with both hands. He then begins spinning it like a helecopter blade in front of him, and a gust begins to blow. As the staff continues to spin, the gust becomes a strong gale, and then a razor-sharp strong gale. Tuxydon is trying to throw off the balance of his foe before he gets close enough to harm Tuxydon with that blade of his...

Not to brag, but DufarC is correct about my other hacks. I made the 1st Megaman 4 hack to ever be published on the Web, I created the 1st real good Sonic the Hedgehog 1 hack, and, though I don't know the 1st thing about ASM, my heart is in it. And that's what counts.

What I say to you is, SOMEbody's going out of their way to cause trouble.

Korra's roundhouse and Sabafang's lunge should send both attackers backward in opposite directions.

"Well, you're an intelligent tiger then. Calculate this!"

Korra tries Mirror Beam on Sabafang, using the same tactic against Hewitt; firing above the head but changing direction to strike the back.

Ami lands right in front of Nimue and focuses. A huge energy ring flies at her foe for very good damage if it were to hit. The force of her own attack pushes her back, but she lands on her hands and turns it into a backflip. She lands right next to Korra.

"Ami," Korra advises, "Don't use only powerful attacks. You'll wear yourself down."

Ami speaks again. "Korrachi, let's try Gemini Formation Wave."

Smiling, Korra nods. They begin to prepare a Tandem Attack.

Tuxydon does his best to defend himself with the staff. He is surprised, though, and is slashed once by the rapier on the arm. The second thrust is blocked by a horizontal movement of Tuxydon's staff... and that's all it takes.

The staff is a Storm Rod, a weapon containing an electrical discharge. As the weapons connect, the discharge thravels through the rapier to shock Kalar. Since he is a cybornetic being, who knows how extra electricity would affect him... The charge rebuilds in Tuxydon's weapon over several turns.

If Kalar is stunned by the shock, Tuxydon takes the opportunity to strike him atop the head with an overhead blow with the staff. If not, Tuxydon does his best to deflect the rest of the blows with his staff, possibly taking another hit (or not).

"You haven't seen nothin' until you've witnessed our Tandem abilities!"

Korra's cannon morphs back into a regular arm, as the arm glows and fires three huge electric spheres into the air. The three spheres hover 12 feet above them, pulsing and in a triangle formation. Ami then jumps on Korra's shoulders and he launches her into the air. She now hovers in the center of the three spheres, and focuses her power, causing the spheres to rotate quickly around her...

After 6 seconds of this, her crystal begins flickering wildly like a strobelight as the spheres break up into a total of about a hundred small electric spheres, which fire at all of Team Gemini's foes in a mad flurry!

"Gemini Formation Wave!!" they cry. After the attack, Ami lands on her feet next to Korra.

Schwa steps back up to UGrey. "Not to brag, but Psi Warriors are just about the most heroic form of Good out there. The only one that surpasses us, I'd say, are dragons. (They're the 2nd strongest beings in existance. 3rd, Oracles, 1st Gods.) What upsets me is that you didn't even consider someone like me getting a Heroic Award!"

Schwa begins pacing. "I'm kinda getting the hang of this. I say there should be a Most Creative Award, too. That would be similar to Most Descriptive, only creativity is more than just that... it includes the quality of the ideas. Basically you pick the one who's been on the most creative adventures (OOC threads), and judge better if they started the adventure (OOC started the thread). What do you think of that?"

It is at this moment a figure falls from an air vent in the ceiling. This figure wears truly futuristic armor... strange as it may be, Janus, Dracoon and Schwa all know this character very well.

Schwa stands.
"MetaKaz?"

The figure removes his sleek helmet. "I will be helping you, Janus."

Schwa is awestruck. "You! Help us! That's amazing!"

"Don't start, Schwa. You were right, I had an obligation. But this is a temporary truce." He glances around. "For 3 days I wondered what to do... I really had no choice. Schwa and I are a lot alike, when you get right down to it... This won't be so bad."

A little history on MetaKaz... This character met Schwa while he was about 17 years old. MetaKaz is a Cosmic Warrior, a type of character that was broken up and destroyed in a war with the Red Sentinels. He is one of the only Cosmic Warriors left who still weilds his powers. He blames the Psi Warriors for the destruction of his people, even though it was their own fault, for this reason: Sensae predicted their fall correctly. Ever since they met, Schwa and MetaKaz have been fierce rivals.

MetaKaz is a WAY better fighter than Schwa, but his battle tactics are very unique; he can only fight well if he's constantly hitting the foe. At the start of a fight, MetaKaz comes with full mana, but it rapidly depletes as he uses his incredible speed, power and discretion. To replenish it, he MUST be hitting the foe constantly. If it runs out, he loses his abilities to use energy-attacks and his agility and attack power drop until he brings his mana reserves to at least 25%.

Schwa has only ever barely managed to defeat MetaKaz in 1-on-1 combat, and the reason is totally unclear to MetaKaz, since they BOTH know who the better fighter is... Over time, this character has had conflicts with Janus and Dracoon as well in his ultimate mission of defeating the great Schwa. MetaKaz wears his futuristic armor at all times in combat, which sort of acts like a bio-suit, reacting to damage almost like a living being (though it doesn't have any organs... ). Being another race, he can live longer than humans, so as of now he's about 39 in human years.

What people are seeing isn't the hack itself, they're seeing the devotion I'm putting into it. What makes a hack good is how much heart and soul you put into it. I mean, with Lunar Magic's easy to use features, ANYONE can make a hack... but not everyone can become one with their creation. What that means is, there are people out there that are so close with their creative side you could say they're a part of their hack. That's me, baby!

Actually, I don't expect everyone to say my hack is great. That's just what happened. In fact, when I first started hacking this game, I was afraid that nobody would like it. The truth is I respect my critics more than my followers, because in a way they are like my rivals, and in that way they're SORT OF like enemies, and I respect my enemies most of all. But don't take this the wrong way, people; Critics are NOT enemies! They're our friends! Without them, our hacks could not improve.

To answer your problem, CheesePie, remember that everyone likes something different. I think the ABSOLUTE most important thing in a hack is creativity, and, looking at your screenshots, I daresay (don't take this as flaming, it's not) that your hack didn't tend to step out of the box a whole lot. Graphic editing is good, but it's only a tiny fraction of what's important, which brings me to the 2nd most inportant thing in a hack: gameplay. Level design is a HUGE part of hacking. You seemed to have made some creative levels too, but to me it seems like your hack focuses on edited graphics more than anything else. (Correct me if that's wrong.) And that's not a good idea.

Guys, there is no such thing as a hack that's "better" than another's. When this hack is out, a lot of you may like it, but SOME of you (like Pheonix and CheesePie) will continue to like other hacks better. And that explains it! What's "good" in a hack is completely opinionated. I say creativity and level design, but remember that those are just my opinions. I say my hack is excellent, but that too is an opinion. Please guys, I don't want any wars started over Rom Hacking. The fact is, we're all a family. As a family, we support each-other and make each-other feel appreciated. I want things to continue this way forever, letting no grudges hinder us.

Okay... Now that I've defended myself, CheesePie, if you have anything else to say I would gladly await hearing it from you.

Edit: Jesus, XKeeper, chill! Don't be so sensitive to bitmaps, you'll hurt their feelings. >.<

Hey, as I said before, no such thing as a bad hack. There may be a hack that's not worthwhile to play, but BAD... I don't think so. That's because the concept of redesigning what Nintendo itself has given us is amazing itself. Your hack is DEFINITELY a worthwile creation. So is mine. In different ways, yes, but both equally good.

That doesn't mean you can throw a pity-party with your comment "Judging things, no matter what I say I'm going to come out being hated more because I seem to be misinterpreted left and right". Hey man, I'm not getting into a flamer war with you, and I'm definitely not about to do the Mod's job either, but my advice is wise; don't expect attention and you'll do better here. Just tryin' to help.

And XKeeper, for God's sake, no flaming! Even if you're PO'd! I can't promise you to use PNG's, but there's really no use griping about it.

P.S. Guys, I'm sorry for all this. I seem to be attracting a lot of negative conflict with this thread. Can't we all just get along? Please?

Edit: And by the way, CheesePie, you need to finish the battle you started in the Sim-Battle Arena labeled "Everyone vs. Killer Beast". I responded to that and have been waiting for you to continue it...

OOC: Sorry for the wait. Misunderstanding.

Schwa brings up two ether-coated arms to protect himself from the beam, but there's one flaw... His ether protects him better from PHYSICAL attacks. After 2 seconds, the beam breaches his defenses and Schwa is thrown backward by the remainder of the blast.

Schwa steps, a little dizzily, forward again.
"That's the last time I play defense against you. Behold!"

As soon as the Haddoken attack is finished, one of the blue wisps surrounding Master M begins to grow and change shape. In 6 seconds it has formed into some pacman-landfish thingy.

"This is called a HaddoKarp, worthy foe. My blue wisps become summoned creatures whenever you attack! This creature specializes in the attack you just dished out... the Haddoken."

Right then, the HaddoKarp faces Master M, backs up a few steps, begins to charge up energy, then releases it, firing the EXACT same attack Master M just used on Schwa. Schwa doesn't attack for now, but begins charging crimson ether into his palm in a kneeling stance...

In utter shock, Schwa stops charging.

"Whoa! That's a Pommy! I better be careful now... I heard those guys don't mess around."

Pommy's attack slams HaddoKarp before he can react. What's worse, since Haddoken is so powerful, HaddoKarp has such a high Attack Power that he has a SUPER low Defense Power. The Karp is slammed against the wall with minimal vitality remaining. In fact, after staggering back up to the action, all it has strength left for is to crumble into dust.

"Oh geez, now it's 2 on 1, their favor. Better summon some everlasting help. Zraku Spirit!" (echo effects)

Blue ether pours from Schwa's fist and a portal appears next to him. Out of the etheral portal steps a blue fox made of holy fire.

"Hello, Zraku. Needed you for a 2 on 1 problem. Now it's even!"
"That's a Pommy, isn't it? Those guys don't mess around, ya know..."
"Yeah, uh... Hows this. You take Pommy while I hammer this Mario impersonator."

The two fighters assume an offensive stance, Schwa holding up a blue-etheral fist, Zraku crouching on all fours.
