I feel really stupid in asking this but can someone explain how the overworld events work...I have altered most of the overworld and added my levels and paths. I have been able to call the built in events ( the yoshi's island hill getting larger for instance, though it does me no good ) and have not quite figured out how to make the paths/levels that are hidden appear. I'm probably overlooking something PINFULLY OBVIOUS as I usually do in a situation like this.

Im also in the same boat for the ExGfx, i simply don't quite know how...

oh and yes i did read the help file, and it helped me with a few other things but not these ones

thank you Kyouji, It was something painfully obvious...I didn't know that you could press up/down in the event tile window to get more tiles...

also.. I don't think that chris is trying to be mean or brag. he's trying to help, I understood most of what he was saying, and it is related to events...just not in the way I needed.

I may just be imagening things but did i see someone on this board volenteering to make some custom blocks or objects....

Also, if someone were to make me a block, how would I get it into my game? Would I send them the .ips or would they send me code?

(in case you can't tell I still have a bit to learn about Lunar Magic.)

Ok...I need help

I have made a castle level with layer two enabled and non interactive. This causes some parts of the level to APPEAR real while they are actually part of the background.I have one problem with the level however...when you go through the door to move to the next room (an other level in lunar magic)...it kills you.
the level that you are going to shows up, you are shown at the top of the screen and fall as if you have just run into an enimy and died. As mario falls to the very bottom of the level the background for the first about four lines...does anyone know what I can do?

I have made about 10 levels in my first hack, I am still kind of new to rom hacking and still dont understand ExGfx. However, I have mangaed to do some interesting things using just the graphics and enemys that came with the game... I am wondering if someone here can take a look at my game and see if they can help me with a coupple of unique and frustrating problems...Like the one where the door kills you uppon using it..

Also any suggestions or level ideas would be most aprecaited... and of course help understanding the ExGfx

No matter where this door leads..It always leads to death..

It shows the destination level, and mario falling like he's been hit and killed. Sometimes the destination is glitched with "junk" at the bottom of the screen

I will email the ips to anyone who wants it, im also looking for feedback on how the "working" levels are.

on the advice of some users on this board I have read some other topics and learned how to download and insert ExGFX into my game..

however when I make a level like this (for testing of the exgfx only)




and save it, it shows up like this in the game


as well as in lunar magic when n I go to another level and back.
Does anyone know what I did wrong?

Ya...I made that level in like 2 secs, just to test if the ExGFX would work. I realize that the block looks funny and will change it.

I am also trying to edit the exgfx but for some reason YY-Chr opens it as junk,

Say blackhole, do you have MSN? cus if you do we can chat about some other questions I have.

I have a few more questions regarding Exgfx...

1. When I open an ExGfx file in YY-chr the pallette is different from the one in the game. How does one get them to display as they would in Lunar Magic?

2. If I add to one of the ExGfx files in YY-chr the additons dont show up in Lunar Magic, even when I do Graphics Bypass, like you are suposed to. How do I make the new things show up?

Alright, these ones are a bit more obscure than my other ones...

(1)
Ok, the level that shows up at the VERY beguinning, level C5, does it have anything special about it, other than being loaded at the very start of the game. My idea is this, I trasnform this level into mario's house, he appears , walks arround and goes down a pipe, he then appears in another level where the Message appears and he it taken to the map, never to return to his house again...
in short, its this sort of thing possable?

How does one go about using ExGfx for the world map, I have a few things that I would like to add to the map and I have already edited a few throught the AllGfx.bin, but I dont want to bugger with anymore things if I have to.

The Big boo Boss...I tried to use it in a normal level, the idea being that It would be used as the boss of a castle or other such Ominous Level, however, the big boo's presance caused a few odd things to happen, first when Mario entered the screen that the big boo was on, he disappeared, he was still there, but he was invisiable. I inculded in the level, the blue grabbable blocks to defeat said ghost, and when I pick one up with mario, it too disappears. The other thing that happens is that All the other sprites in the level become transparent, the other enemies, and the power ups, eg Mushrooms and fire flowers, become transparent. the last thing that the boo does is causes what ever is behind it to become transparent as well. What can I do?

by the walking arround thing, I ment that the player could move him around the house, out the door, and down the pipe... I think that it should be possible but I don't know...

I can't for the life of me find the Gfx option on the Overworld editor window. It is probably right in a menu that I already checked, but I dont see it, soooo could you please point it out to me. Im not a toal noob, Im just tired

thanks for that, it indeed was there, I successfully screwed my overworld three ways from sunday, and then repaired it before realizing that it is in my best interest to make an ExGfx file with more than one tile
