1. Well... It's complicated. With the first two pages of the map16, everything is shared between levels... If you change something there you will pretty much have to edit all the other levels' graphics so it fits, however, if your editing happens to have everything in the exact same places as they were in the original SMW and they do the exact same things, then you really won't. 2. Well the thing is... You really can't have two different "used" blocks in the same hack. They're an animated block with the first part of the animation being all the same thing which is used normally and the second part being a spinning coin which is used when the silver POW is active. This however is not true if you animate it yourself in each level via the extended animation frames, but that would be rather unnecessary and you'd HAVE to make a new one each time. I just wouldn't do that, it'd be too much work for too little benefit. As for why it appears as garbage, the two ExGFX files you're using probably have it loading from different places, and you can't do that if it's still on the default pages, which it'd have to be if the regular blocks are to turn in to it, unless you were to use a custom block that mimics their activity. As for the background... People just don't submit them terribly often. They're not nearly as fun to work on as foreground graphics in my experience, and as a result people who aren't getting money off their work don't see the need to make them. As for making your own map16... I've always sucked at explaining this. I'ma let someone else. Make a custom block that changes what event an exit trigger when touched. Make this block work as a level exit. Voila, third exit. I'm not sure changing the direction enabled would be possible but having that direction enabled from the start and having the event activate the path so you can't go along it anyway would probably work You could probably do the same thing to make 4+ but that would be rather awkward, though not completely useless if you were to use new path tiles triggered by the event to alter the path. Not sure the overworld animation thing is possible; why not just use a different shape for it that overwrites either the small or big level icon? That's what I'd do, anyway. You haven't seen my new hack though, Arkichef. I haven't really posted anything about it outside of a small demo that got few responses before I got any of the backgrounds from GoYo... And one tileset is too much. Hate to bring up an old topic, but the YI graphics are fresh and cartoony, while the SMW sprites he's using them with are decidedly more sharp. Just look at the screens. Do Mario and those enemies really belong there? **** no. I don't want this to devolve in to a flame war, however, so I'm going to back out ow. |

You rip foregrounds and backgrounds for use by copying them in to your ExGFX files in the proper locations, and you use them by setting them for use in the Super GFX bypass, creating an appropriate custom palette, and constructing the tiles in the 16x16 editor if the tiles you want aren't there by default... Actually, Simon, I just checked. Even if the direction is enabled from the start, if there is no path tile there you won't be able to go in that direction. You going off in an odd direction would be strange but it could be fixed pretty easily, just set the three-way level as one where you don't move after level completion. Of course, if changing the direction IS possible, none of that would be necessary. EDIT: CPUbasic, you didn't understand. The fourth exit changes the path that the first or second goes along via layer two 16x16 event-activated path tiles. To prevent it from harming anything, the level after it could have going to the level the path to which was overwritten and have that direction enabled from the start so you wouldn't have to do anything to get to it. Chuck, lava lotus, and piranha plant are what I was looking at. Chuck and lava lotus are as I said decidedly more sharp, but also, if you look at the piranha plant, the lighting on it is decidedly different than the pipe around it, which give it a... conflicting look to it. | |||

So you can make a custom block that you can only pass through when event ___ is passed where ___ is the number of the event to be replaced, and put it in the way of the extra exit. | |||
