I assumed your "Sonic hacks" thread pretty much covered the entire series on Genesis, so this thread is a bit redundant. Search www.zophar.net www.google.com or make your own. And please, if anyone wants to answer to this thread, reply to the original Sonic hack request thread.

I don't think the slowing down timer thing can be fixed. I tried a few things to try to fix it and it seems the code that draws new tiles during scrolling takes priority over the timer code and there's nothing that can be done about it :/

This is what PM is for, this bump is 7 months! Please try to refrain from this and just use the PM system.

And yet another big ass bump. Remember, use the PM system next time. Bumps like this just push current threads down the line

I won't look for it myself in SMW's asm, but I'll tell you the best method to get the Luigi control effects: Rather than have him "jump higher", find the byte that controls his upward velocity. Like, find the mathematical routine that decreases his velocity as he goes up. Once he reaches a certain velocity (becoming slower as he goes up) his velocity slows down at a slower rate... example: His velocity may start out as C0 (going up) Then it goes to D4 to D8 to DC and so on... until it reaches F8 then rather than going by 4, it may start going by 2, so the next valye us FA, FC then slows down to going by 1. I'm not saying this is definitely the way it works, but I'm 100% positive it works similiarly. So anyways, what you might wanna do, is change the point that his velocity changes. Make it happen at say... FE rather than F8, that way he jumps higher, but he becomes "floaty". Then using the similiar method for his fall down, he'll have a "max" fall velocity. Just lower the max fall slightly so that he falls down at a slightly slower rate. This will give Luigi floatier controls. Now, as for his ground movement. A VERY simple ASM hack will solve this. I assume there's a byte in RAM that says you're on Ice ground or not. All you need to do is find where the game resets this address to 0 and just have it write in 1, that way, it feels like he's always on ice. I can't really do this myself because I lack any experience with 65c816, but this is how I got Luigi style controls in SMB3 and I'd hope SMW uses a similiar engine for it's physics. |

Pshaw, I don't quite understand why Nanaca does what it does, it may have to do with my Stepmania sound settings, but I re-recorded the song and it worked fine. My computer can certainly "handle" it though, I can run two instances of Stepmania at full speed.. so yeah... I got myself a PS2 and DDR Max2 at the start of the week. I think I over did it the first day I started playing though because I became sore for the rest of the week... And I've started a new set of simfiles: Sonic Classics Mix. I've got 2 simfiles done, hopefully I can pull out 15 or so before I decide to release the whole thing at once . |

Well I've done that in my hack... except the bar is horizontal and in the status bar. Though it only applies to Koopa Kid bosses, though writing a new routine to handle Boom-Booms wouldn't be too hard, same with Bowser. (edited by DahrkDaiz on 03-08-05 07:41 PM) |

Well if it's any conselation, I've been playing for a year now, can AA a few catas and tons of 8 and 7 footers, but cannot AAA even the easiest of songs, so don't feel bad about not AAAing anything for sometime

Some have asked me as to the progress of my latest SMB3 hack, and here it is! I'm currently working on 3-6. Since the last demo, I've added a handful of ASM hacks to add to the gameplay to an already thoroughly hacked game, including: -Boom-booms now take 5 hits and have an altered attack pattern -New "Coin Bonus" rewards for collecting 3 Goal cards -New "Coin Collecting" levels that require you to collect coins to get rid of an obstacle to complete a level -New enemies such as: Ninjis New Giant enemies Fire Snifits Chomper Cheeps Altered Venus Fire Traps that shoot 2 fireballs that split to the left and right and continue bouncing and many more! Including these ASM hacks, the levels are now created from scratch (big woop ) and with overhauled graphics. The first few screenshots below have the old graphics sets but the last ones are of the new graphics! lol jman saw me explain that in IRC, those are just coins in mid-animation, that's all And this is indeed the same hack that you guys saw a demo of a while back that turns enemies into coins. Those who've played the full version so far have loved it and I think it'll even beat out my previous hack, Mario Adventure! |

For starters, Holic is a good one to do on Heavy to build stamina. It's got long streams and easy steps... Once you get confortable with easy heavies, Can't Stop Fallin in Love Speed Mix is the next best stamina builder. Easy to follow steps and a stamina killer... finally, besides 10 footers, the next best stamina builder is Exotic Ethnic. Once again, easy steps but lots of twists and long streams. Also, non-stop courses (NOT ONI/CHALLENGE!) are good to help build stamina. If you can do a song after being worn out, then you can probably do it even better fresh.

If you just looked a few lines up, you'd see a Yoshi's Island data thread, so obviously this game has been and is being hacked. As for the other two, I highly doubt it.

Holy crap dude, I didn't think I'd ever seen games of 3D have editors in my rom-hacking life time, but here you come with your awesome skill proving me wrong. You do realize you're a pioneer in ROM Hacking and may just very well revolutionize it with this little editor. |

most of these ideas CAN be done, but not implemented in my curent hack because I've used the available space that would be use to create a lot of these neat ideas... However 2 stood out that I might actually use. Ringodoggy's idea for Stone Luigi MIGHT be implementable, I forget if I overwrote the statue power or not, if I didn't then I'll implement an item that turns Luigi into stone for a level... And Rockman's insta-item emergency usage idea. I would like to expand on that and make it so you can choose which item would would activate when you became small, but I'll definitely do atleast the mushroom. |
