Ok well without reading the rest of the posts, my understanding is that Legend of Zelda 2 -Adventures of Link (or whatever) is the latest in the series. Before that is the original Zelda. Then Link to the past is a prequel to that (hence, "to the Past"), and the Link and Zelda in there are of a different generation, the maidens being decendants of the sages you meet in Ocarina of time, where there's another generation of Link and Zelda. Link's Awakening is supposed to be in the same life time of Link to the Past Link. So if WW happens 100 years later, it's just another generation of Link and Zelda. |

When you see a "=" after an address on a given line of assembly, that means that the address is equal to the value before the instruction is executed. If you did a breakpoint on F27D for execute, then it'll show STY $00 = #$FE, then Step Into to go to the next instruction, an scroll up in the debugger and you'll see that $00 is now #$03. Hope this clears things up

Well I won't give any definite date. Originally I planned to have had it released on New Years, but I decided not to rush it at the end like I did with Mario Adventure. The grunt work (level making/editing) is almost over. World 8 has 4 levels left and the secret world needs to be done. As I do that, I'll be adding more and more ASM hacks. Plus, I need to get this thoroughly beta tested by other people (I already have one very good beta tester testing right now, I'll need another for a final release test). So to give a rough estimate, within the next 2 weeks, but no promises

I currently have 2 brand new power-ups working, an alteration of an existing one, and a new way to obtain another (so effectively, that's 4 power-up alterations). I have atleast 1 more planned but hope to have more, but no promises. Don't worry, they won't be like what was in Mario Adventure, where one item just gives you two power-ups. As far as music hacking, once again music is something quite out of my range. If I actually start to understand it, I may modify the music but there'll definitely be no original tracks. Oh and now, there's two item shops that sale different items, but if I get more power ups programmed in, I may extend it to three item shops. Oh and as another tasty bit, expect some things you saw in the Luigi's Coin Quest demo in this hack. Not everything will be ported, but some of the good stuff is already in (edited by Rebecca Daise on 01-09-05 04:19 PM) |

Nice hack. Can't wait to play it. Maybe you can add a "total time" display to show how much time you've spent beating levels, since this is a time-attack like hack. You could probably add it over the old goal-card area. Also, maybe you should add a power-up that froze time and enemies (and effectively animations too) and make it so running faster doesn't slow the timer down like it does in the original SMB3, that would be pretty cool. Bwaahahah, I spent a few minutes working on this, but I've made so now I can add as many different power-ups for the inventory box as I so well please. As proof Listing of first 7 power ups. then a listing of the next 7, showing that the tile and the sprite do work and the power up does have an effect. Now you can see that the wings have been equipped. As you can see, there are 14 power-ups shown and SMB3 originally had 13. |

well.... I was gonna keep that a secret, but since you asked, yes. The inventory box has been (for a while now) expanded from 28 to a whopping 49 items (why not 50? because it only displays 7 items per box, and 49 is a multipleof 7). And to show that I am adding real new items, I have a movie! Small file to download, extracts to 48MB Bigger file to download, but extracts to only 3MB This movie shows off the Bob-omb power-up. You'll see what it does in the movie |

The bomb doesn't work on platforms, power-ups, or bosses, so it won't create impossible situations

Ok I suppose I won't leave the suspense: This is the Mouser Suit. Why "Mouser"? Mouser is the character in SMB2 that throws Bob-ombs and happens to be a mouse. Mouser Luigi can generate bob-ombs to throw at enemies, which explode shortly after. Also, he an perform a somersault, which causes him to roll into a ball and he can defeat enemies that, previously, only the Kuribo shoe could do |

You all may have the best hacks, best gfx, or best level challenge awards, but I have the BEST ROM HACKER AWARD! Haw, I'm just kidding. There's a lot of talent in the nomination pool and I'm really surprised I got voted on the most. Sliver-X, Dan, Disch and others have great talents that rival mine and really deserved this more than I did. But I'm grateful for being recognized as the Best Rom Hacker and I hope to keep cranking out great hacks for others to enjoy for the this new year.

Ok, I need to clear a few things up about this interview, I quoted macbee only because he's the one that posted the translation. This isn't an attack on you, just a clarification of what's being said here by the interviewer.Originally posted by macbee Scanline distortion isn't a new thing: it's been done several times in NES games and many homebrew demos. This was the first time a water effect scanline distortion had been used in a fan based homebrew. However, the effect is still damn pretty neat. Kudos to Seph3 on this Originally posted by macbee Becoming "nuts" is a bit of an overstatement. There was good amount of interest, but MegaMan Vengeance wasn't the to-end-all projects that would put everyone else's to shame. Originally posted by macbee From what I recall, the source had not been stolen, but a demo had been leaked out by an anonymous source. But it does seem that the leak was a big hit to the team's plans, unfortunately. Originally posted by macbee A demo has been planned "in a few months" since the project's start, I don't think that we're ever going to see MegaMan Vengeance in any form or fashion as an official release. From last I heard, Seph3 hadn't even been working very much on it before the demo had been even leaked, which sucks, but we all have to have our priorities :/ (edited by Rebecca Daise on 01-15-05 06:53 PM) |

Well, I had a red octane ignition and the pad blows, it's better than most soft pads, but it suffers the same problem for me: it slides around a lot and it's hard to play without your feet slipping. Also, the inside of my pad is ripped up after only 4 months of use (and that's not constant use, that's maybe 4 times a month). That is why I ordered a cobalt flux! It's on it's way as we speak and I can't wait to play DDR at home on a hard, metal pad with my shoes on! |

I personally prefer a normal ole PSX controller with a PSX->USB converter. Both can be gotten for like $10 each and the PSX controller has enough buttons for most, if not all console emulation purposes.

Originally posted by Glyph Phoenix There is not a Boom-Boom fight on every stage in this hack like there was in Mario Advenutre. There ARE, however, stages with 2 Boom-Booms that you fight. The problem in MA with one being destroyed and grabbing a ? block while letting the other destroy is gone. Now, when you fight 2 or more Boom-Booms, defeating one will cause it to explode and release a Mushroom, rather than the ? ball. The ? ball will finally be released when the last Boom-Boom is defeated As for level design: the level design is almost made up of level edits. Most levels WILL be reocgnizable, but modified just enough to provide some new challenge not found in the first. So the design is mostly straight forward, but there are a few levels that require a bit of thinking to pass (edited by Rebecca Daise on 01-19-05 06:45 PM) |
