In addition to the sort of currently inactive FuSoYa and BMF (atleast he will be more inactive), you now have HyperHacker and Juggling Joker at the helm here in SMW hacking. HyperHacker's already a mod in Hardware/Software and Juggling Joker is new to being a moderator at this board. I'm sure you all know them both and I hope this will work when it comes to bringing in some fresh, active, capable blood in here. I trust them both to do an excellent job. |

SMW ASM isn't special ASM, it's just ordinary Super NES ASM, since, uh, that's what it's written in. Any ASM tool that targets the SNES processor (I forget what it's called now) should be fine. |

That leaves three mods, of which one (BMF) is on a break from all this of unspecified length. It's not really that "over-dimensioned", it just looks kinda bulky.Originally posted by cpubasic13You're joking, right? No, just no. Anyway, I do think JJ makes a great mod, but does any forum really need four mods?

Okay, jesus. People, if you want to change the clock, tell ||bass or Emuz that it's offset by X minutes, and ask them if Mouse (our host) can change it. I thought it was syncing against a time server all this time but I guess not - let's hope that's what he does. |

The first law of web design at work: The most important piece of information on every web site must at all times move, blink, oscillate, spin or twirl. |

Lower prices over the line (except the shuffle) and new models of the mini and photo. |
iPod mini [green, blue, pink, gray; 18 hour battery] 4GB: $199 6GB: $249 iPod 20GB: $299 iPod photo [new 30GB model that's a one-platter drive - as thick as the ordinary iPod] 30GB: $349 60GB: $449 There'll also be an iPod Camera Connector for $29, and it will connect your camera (duh) to the iPod photo so that you can actually unload the photos on your camera to the iPod. Edit Profile -> Thread layout -> Regular without number/bar graphics. |
Again, we can't fix it as it hinges on GD being installed, and we just don't have the kind of authority to fix that. I wonder why Mouse dumped the previous version - I'll ask him later on.

I'm strongly considering the 30GB iPod photo. I've wanted it before, but before today the lowest one was 40GB and $499 (vs $349 today) and it was *thick* thick. The 30GB model is as thick as my current 15GB 3G iPod is, it's newer too (surprise?) and I'm the kind of guy that's willing to blow an extra $50 (compared to the 20GB iPod) to get photo features I may use in the future. I'm also the kind of guy that's a sucker for color screens. So there. |

Performance sounds like a good explanation. The new server sucks way less, though, so we'll see. |

Originally posted by HyperHackerBetter than 2-bit greyscale. I don't think an additional $50 to get a color screen and 50% more storage in is a bad value at all when it comes to the 30GB vs the 20GB. It's the best "additional $50" in the whole chain, unless you're 100% all about storage, in which case the leap from 6GB to 20GB from the 6GB mini to the 20GB is the best. Seriously, I think their pricing is really starting to come together now. (Mostly) Leaps of $50 is so much better than (mostly) leaps of $100.

And I agree - it was: - No video. People wanted video. I want video. Screw the fact that I don't have anything to stick on it - if it can play audio and show color pixels, video *should* be in. (The practical reasons, aside from the legal reason (ripping a DVD is illegal in the US from what I know) are that QuickTime doesn't support DivX, Xvid, WMV and newer versions of Flash and I don't think they'd implement it on the photo and not add it to QT, and that the display's too small.) - No way to add new photos to the mix. There is now. - Vastly overpriced - when a normal 40GB iPod cost $499, a 40GB iPod photo cost $599. As much as I love color screens, I wouldn't even begin to talk about that as a reasonable jump in price unless I was also a real shutterbug. This is now fixed. - Thicker than normal iPods. Two-platter drives to blame here. Partially fixed with the 30GB model (which is why they cancelled the 40GB model - it's presumably very costly in a single-platter version). - Designed with the assumption that you're going to use it as much for photos as for audio playback. This was very very wrong. The money in the iPod has always been about a nice interface to listening to music. They crammed some Extras in there too, which are neat, but none of them were ever even part of the focus. Including a dock with S-video jacks and a video cable is nice but costly, and the marketing would have you believe it's all about playing slideshows. Like the games on the little bugger, it's nice, but it's far from it. I think they've toned the web site back enough to have soberly reflected on this, and the video cable and "photo dock" are both out of the standard box, which helped bring down the price. What I don't like about the new one is that they also cut the FireWire cable (they only supply USB2 cables now) and the cheap but non-sucky case from the box. I can see the reasons and I agree that it's a good sacrifice to bring down the price, but I still don't like it. |
