Just to make this clear: there's no -official- limit on when we'll stop. I for one think 100 would be a good limit. And you have to remember that several people - including me - didn't make 1000th post threads.

Jilkon is currently #100 on the list, has 437 posts and makes 1.28 posts per day - that'd leave 440 (~439.8) days for him to climb to 1000 posts. It's not that I don't expect that he will be passed, but I just don't know how to calculate it and taking into consideration "climbers".

With the notion that I made a 100 posts thread back in the day, and the belated congratulations to Keikonium that I forgot in my earlier post, I'm off to prepare for something else, but related. (Check my posts count.)

2000 posts in 12 months, as opposed to 2359 in 38 months on the old place. Kickass.

Ctrl+scrollwheel? It's no smaller now than it was before.

What browser are you using? I've tried it in Firefox, Safari, Opera and IE (it even displays properly in IE 5.0!) and I've seen nothing but the same text size all over the place. If you can apply a user style, just set #board-acmlm-org .jesper-less { font-size: 1.4em; } or something.

Thanks, knuck.

Oof. That's indeed how it looked before I fixed a bug in the CSS. (I'm relying on relative sizing. The relative sizing worked fine when relative to the default font size of the test page, but not when relative to the board's font size - which is why I added an extra rule to bump up the base size of the entire layout (thus indirectly the other sizes too) when on the board.) I'll just go to the stylesheet and change it to always apply that rule - I'm not going to use the test page anyway now.

Edit: Changed.

Gradient and Myriad? It's from Apple, not from you. This is pretty much from whence the "glossy header" came from, and I liked Myriad even before Apple started using it.

Thanks.

It wastes less space. Looks sharper. The blue is a lot darker than the blue version of the old one.

You know what would be cool, to create sort of a pixelated text generator that would keep the sizes of custom titles compact yet readable.

Patent pending.

Posted on 02-19-05 05:09 PM, in Google wants to host Wikimedia (Wikipedia, Wikibooks, etc) Link
Let's take this into a bigger perspective. Google's reason for existance - according to themselves - is to "help organize the collected body of information in the world". Noone can deny that Wikipedia is -the- biggest freely available single body of information on the internet - legitimate or not. Thus, it's partly in Google's interest to help them stay online - the other major bodies of information are mostly supported by advertising or subscriptions and will do fine.

Thus they put forward a proposal - "Google Inc. have made a proposal to host some of the content of the Wikimedia projects." - to help host Wikimedia's stuff. Not host it all. Just help out. And you have to understand that even if they -did- host all of it, it's still licensed under the GNU Free Documentation License. In order to fiddle with the contents, they'd have to a) don't care about the license and fiddle with it anyway, and risk being taken to task in court or b) lift the license, and be forced to delete everything, since everything was written under the assumption that it'd be available under the FDL, and it would therefore not be fair game to make it available under any other license.

So. The content stays, and if the deal happens, Google will host *part of* Wikimedia's stuff, which may or may not include any of Wikipedia, Wikiquote, Wikisource, etc.
