I want the Mac mini as a simple "build farm" for my Powerbook - Xcode's got distributed compiling. That, or again, these elusive Cinema Displays. I'm happy with my dual monitor setup except for the part where one of the monitors is a VGA one. I still can't believe we're not all on DVI yet.

As dan mentioned, it can do comma separated files. CSV files work everywhere. I think my toaster can handle them.

Who cares? This is the unofficial message board of HyperNova Software.
That'd be very unofficial then, seeming as how you're not even an admin.

"somerandomperson@hotmail.com has added you to their buddy list!" Multiply by about 628 every time you log in and you end up with a list full of people you've never heard of. if I wanted people to know I was adding them, I'd *gasp* tell them! I'm sure they'd appreciate it a lot more than a big popup box out of nowhere too. And name one half-decent IM service that doesn't have all those other features?
I get like one guy every six months, and I'm not even on "exclusive" mode. I didn't say it was omg the greatest, I was saying that it was very decent and forgot about this niggling detail, which can be annoying if people abuse it, I guess.

If you're a biochem mom, a way to score points with your son's place of work practise is appearently to tell their CEO that you were particularly excited to come there because their company name is that of a chemical test to detect blood in poo. Yes, this actually happened.

How does everyone pronounce Zem? I pronounce it "old mattress name common to all mattresses on Squornshellous Beta, and in fact everywhere, but also to a wannabe who could never flollop like a mattress even if his life depended on it".

If you don't need custom schemes, mouse-cursor shadows - turn them off, which I'm sure you have. No need to whine about it just because the option's there.

Xk: For all I know, SP2 has been rejiggered at some core parts to help against the Blaster kind of attacks. It would be nice to know what issues you have with SP2, and if your not liking it justifies having a less secure system. And its DOS compatibility sucks, yup. It can't compete with something built upon it, which was the reason why the memory leaked in the first place. There are some DOS emulators out there that might fit your bill better than XP's built-in one, so don't fret.

FreeDOS, that argument was based on XP being favored over 2000 by Microsoft, but it's still valid even though it wasn't in the same form of the others (XP being different when compared to 2000 based on how it's built), because conceivably, it'll be even harder for BMF to go directly from 98 to Longhorn. "Just because Microsoft wants to drop support for Windows 2000 makes it bad?" - no, not bad, just a worse place to start from in a few year, and yes, "just" if you ignored the rest of my arguments.

XP being harder or easier to use isn't objective - it's subjective based on what you know about it and what you'd like to accomplish. It's way easier for me to tell people to stick stuff in Shared Documents if they want to share them, but it's still possible for me to set up shares and fiddle with permissions. But I guess if you want complete control all the time it would suck.

System 6 - in other words, Mac OS 6 (it even has a fan site of sorts).

Because our household has almost always been one with both Macs and PCs, I did use DOS too, albeit not as much - after all, which one's more pedagogic for a four year old to use, a GUI with icons or a CLI? When Windows 3.1(1) came around, the usage stayed about equal for several years although after Windows 95 I've been using PCs almost the whole time. Recently I've begun using the Mac and PC almost equally at home, and I bring my Mac in to work some days too.

It's amazing to see how the Mac GUI has not seemingly changed a lot (1985 to 2005) when compared to Windows in the same period, and I think I was lucky to grow up with an opportunity to watch both Mac OS and Windows change. (And where you could actually choose to like Mac for the games! Shufflepuck Caf

I play with myselfI used to play the piano, but I sucked at mapping the notes to the actual keys, so I lagged like a tenth of a second between every key.
