Trust me, not everyone's English is as bad as Kitten Yiffer's

I'd estimate around 80% of the population here can speak enough English to be able to have an interesting discussion at a board like this. So if those are all of your worries, you needn't worry too much. Besides, if you don't mind lots of rain and sticking u-s in to you strange places in some words, why not the UK?

It's just that no one would've replied to this hack if I hadn't brought up the subject of cancelling it, which I still intend to do. Not just because I didn't get replies, because I don't feel like YI Hacking anymore, and I got school and stuff. I don't mean to draw so much attention myself, I expected that no one would care when I said I was cancelling it.
This is no trouble at all. The reason we do this is because noone expected you to cancel it, we just figured you'd be busy continuing to develop it so that's why there wasn't too many posts, as far as I can see. I claim myself guilty of just posting one post about how great a hack is in the first thread I see about it, and just keep shut for basically the rest of the hack's lifetime, unless there are significant advances.

And yes, whatever -did- happen to putting things on hiatus? Your hack is loved by many people in this forum, so that's not the real issue (even if you think it is - I haven't spoken to one user here that doesn't think your hack is any less than awesome). The issue is probably that you're busy. That's okay. We'll still be here waiting for the next release, which will come when it's ready. And if you're still undecided, you can still put it on hiatus and just deal with it when your life is less busy.

Isn't English taught as a second language in Scandanavia? Because Jesper, you must have traveled to North America, or you were keen on your studies, because your English is very very fluent and quite advanced for a second language, I've noticed in your posts.
For all of my english classes, from fifth grade continuing until the day I left school in our 12th grade, I've -never- felt that I wasn't ahead of the rest of the class. Apart from a total of less than 48 hours in Norway, I have never left Sweden. The Internet and books taught me English. True story.

You shouldn't be able to do that. The > in <z> would still form the smiley.

This is a public announcement: If your idea of the swedish accent includes either of: "Ingaaa", "Sven", "sweeeeeeeeeeeden", "jaaaaaaaaaaa", then go fuck yourself, and get a fucking grip. And a world map. You will see that the country you're looking for is not Sweden, but rather Switzerland or Germany, and I doubt even any of them talk like that.

960 was a little fun for me. A few friends debated unscrewing the number plate and screwing it back on upside down, so it'd read "069". But then they remembered it'd really read "096".

Posted on 09-13-04 05:42 PM, in A new Megaman hack w/ Schwa (snaps) Link
Hm, if FLE is a DOS editor (I think it is) you must use the so called 'DOS name'. Which is the first six alphabetic characters of the file, a tilde (~) and then its number, which is the nth file with the first six characters in the directory.

If you have:
  • mega man 1.nes
  • mega man 2.nes
  • mega man x.smc
You'd type megama~1.nes for the first one, megama~2.nes for the second and megama~1.smc (1, because it's the first smc file. The others are nes files.)

Posted on 09-14-04 07:35 PM, in Who can help out with what languages? Link
So this is a little experiment. You'll reply to this thread stating what languages you know and are willing to help out with. I'll keep a tally of it all, and hopefully one will be able to find out if one's question will be answered by looking here. If you have deeper knowledge in a specific part of a language or a specific area of usage than the rest of it, append it to the language name in parantheses - () - and if you only know a limited part of it, append it but in brackets instead - [].

Short rules: Only programming languages go here. HTML, XML, SVG, SGML are markup languages. CSS is a formatting template language. SQL is a query language. All competency in SQL especially may be added in paranthesis as a strength of a certain language - eg "PHP (MySQL connection)". This also means that if you don't write the SQL queries directly but manage the rows and tables with, say, an object-oriented layer which does the hard work for you, and you did not write it (which in itself is a strength), you might want to say instead "PHP (MySQL connection thru query abstraction layer)".
