Your post was well-argued and had a point. Flames are downright insults or lies about people designed to try to make them or something associated with them look dumb or feel dumb. I wouldn't have said you were flaming by a long shot if you had made the post a little more non-ambiguous.

No, you're all wrong. It just took them several years to be able to compose a disco ditty convincing enough to make all bits stand up.

Yes, you may register if you just want to see the active issues.

Vyper, I've had a short ISP downtime today but you're added now.

For one thing i cant send email on a local server.
You won't need to; the old register method is still provided (it's just unsupported).

Thanks for the upgrade. Just one thing, would you mind having all the releases (acmlm.cjb.net:2) on the download page, to preserve previous releases?
The reason we're putting out a new release in the first place is so that people will be immune to the most gaping holes of the previous releases.

The system PM thing is just a result of a poor decision by ||bass to base system messages upon PMs. We will use separate tables when it's really implemented but I guess I forgot to clean out some intermediary code like that.

Posted on 04-11-05 06:52 PM, in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy has this to say about movie trailers. Link
The premise of that review is that it can only be good if it includes every little detail from the book, which is impossible. I see the movie as an adaptation of the core story which, when it comes down to details, has differed wildly in every single version ever (the exception was the radio scripts in book form; Douglas Adams has written that this consistency has made him uneasy and that he went out of his way to write an intro that would flatly contradict everything else to stay true to form). From this trailer alone, we can see that the spirit is largely the same as the original humor. I see absolutely no reason for this movie to drop below 'good', even if it might not be 'great'.

Posted on 04-12-05 01:20 AM, in Clarification: ALL BUGS NOT SUBMITTED TO BUG TRACKER WILL BE IGNORED. Link
If you have a bug in 1.A2, and you want it fixed, *please* file it in the bug tracker. If you've registered, you know where it's located, and if you haven't registered: Just send the username, "real name" (the name that will be displayed in some places, this might as well be your screen name, I don't particularly care myself, the bug tracker software just calls it "real name") and email address you want to wootest+acmlmbugs__gmail.com (yes, include the plus, and yes, exchange __ with the @). When I've added you you'll recieve a confirmation email with the address.

The reason the URL to the bug tracker isn't given in the clear here is because I just want people onboard who are willing to put effort into this - providing details and clarifications and not just a thousand fuzzy one-offs in this forum. And the simple reason that I won't fix anything not in the bug tracker is just because if I did, then noone would file anything in the bug tracker because it's easier to annoy me in IMs, PMs, posts, over email...

You suck. The way to make "bookmarklets" or "favelets" easy is to just make a link with the 'code' in the href attribute - that way anyone can drag it to the toolbar or right click to add to bookmarks. This is how it's done on the page that Kitten Yiffer links to.

Even if they took out 80 good jokes, there'll still be 50 good jokes left. I'm convinced that people will recognize a lot of good jokes, even if they left out a lot of them, too.

Email, perhaps? You didn't even send a PM.

I think I've fixed the bug, but seeming as how I can't find the place where you detail in which file it's even in in the first place (which kind of invalidates the "ignoring bugs" part) it's hard.

And how!

But it's fixed now. Our lives go on!
yeah.

funny how he fixes his own but ignores all the others
Must have been because you *ignored* sending me details.

Yes, I posted; that's insanely nice of you to notice. I have a part-time job to attend to. I have several freelance projects. I have sleep, eating and numbers one and two somewhere in between, and I also have to fix bugs regarding AcmlmBoard. As if that wasn't enough, I'm also trying to get a driver's license (the real deal, not some watered-down permit). As an inevitable result, visits here and to AIM has been fewer for two or three weeks. As a token of my appreciation, though, I'll be sure to label you a lazy dick when you take up something that requires even moderate attention and you turn your efforts elsewhere for a week or two.

(I don't hate this duty and I don't hate not getting paid for it (nor do I expect to), I just hate not having more time for it, because I like doing it.)

I posted this in a staff forum but I felt it was appropriate to post here, too:

Let me start off by saying that I'm sorry for the absence lately. I've been busy hunting jobs, reading up on driving theory and pretty much opting not to go to Acmlm's in whatever little free time I had left. But - to be honest, my situation isn't much different now personally from what it was when I was active last.

What I've done is taken more Acmlm's time and putting it into job hunting and driving theory. These things need to take the front seat now because they've been more or less neglected for a long while. I love being a part of this board and its community, and I love working on the board software, but that doesn't mean I can't take a break for it, and it doesn't mean that I'll have left forever. I've been spending an abnormal amount of my attention from before Christmas to early April, and I just couldn't keep it up. I was, more or less, burnt out on this board. I won't come back until late May at the earliest, because I need to spent my time doing other things, which includes things I actually have scheduled with other people and can't move.

You all have my email which I regularly check if something insanely urgent comes up. Insanely urgent does not include debugging your AcmlmBoard. Insanely urgent does include reporting bugs.
