First off, those pictures are way to small to be turned into anything useful for SMW except maby wall paintings in a house or something.

Second of all, how do you not have enough hard drive space??? You need like 8 MB or less for everything needed to hack this game.

So get some bigger pictures and we will be glad to help out.

Anything is possible ! So I can put an ASM hack into SMW that will make it use 24-bit instead of 4-bit!! Please someone tell me how!

Anyway, for the "gun" idea, just use some hex editing to make the fireballs fly straight ahead of mario.

Changing the bytes at 80C5 and 121D4 to 00 will make fireballs go straight.

Then just change marios graphics, and the fire ball graphics to their respective...looks.

And change the palette. Voila, gun mario. Hope that helps.

197B8 - 01 Rex's HP
7E153B - 03 Lemmy and Wendy's HP
D1CD - 03 Ludwig, Morton, and Roy's HP

Those were taken from this thread here: SMW ROM addresses

There are more addresses there that corespond with enemy HP. Just go take a look.

I have tried many times to watch this video, but it wont work. My computer can't handel DivX Player (it can usually play DivX movies tho, just with a program called Irfanview). I have tried watching it right from the internet, and tried downloading it to watch it off my PC. Watching from the internet hasn't worked yet, but when I download it and play it of my computer, all the sounds come up, but no video.

I have tried it in 2 programs: WMP, and Irfanview. I can't find any other video playing programs that wont cause my computer to freeze or crash completely (meaning it shuts it self down). So does anyone recommend any good players for videos that use a fairly low amount of resources? (WinAMP video refuses to work on this computer also).

How much you wanna bet this place gets closed by the end of the year? That is, if people keep posting useless posts asking what this place is, and if they can post here. Well duh you can post here, it is a fourm is it not. Stupid people.

DAMN I SHOULD HAVE WRITTEN MY SELF UP TO BE A MOD FOR SMW HACKING!! I am sick of this blue for my name! I want green like Colleen!! Or better yet would be a custom orange color.

Xk could you maby write a hack or something that could do that?

I have already tried that, and it doesn't work. I have a 56k, and I would probably have to sit here for a long while waiting for this thing.

Also, is it supposed to load up in WMP (thats the program I have set up to play .avi), or is supposed to play in the browser? Mine loads up WMP.

Also, I am running a windows 98 computer that is a piece of crap. I will just have to wait for a demo I suppose.

Good job with all this stuff d4s. Could you maby do something with the "Mario Start" screen so it would show a level name or something and then the screen would be pulled off to the side revealing the level? Exactly like YI does when you enter a level? That would rock.

I like the cactus one also, it looks really...3D, but its 2D. Thats awesome!

I don't know what the difference is. He just wanted addresses to change enemy HP, so I went to the SMW ROM Address's thread, and copied what I saw from there. It looked like an address to change the number of hits Lemmy and Wendy take, so I posted it here. Just trying to help.

Btw, what is the difference between ROM and RAM address?

This looks awesome, I need to comment on this!

1. Title screen looks amazing! Only 2 things I see that need some work. First change that title. Not the words, just the way it looks. It doesn't look very good at all. The "A", "W", "M", and "G" look really badly drawn, and the word "IN" looks bad also. The "I" is way to small and thin compared to the "N". Just fix up the way the letters look, and that will be awesome! Another thing you may want to try, is experimenting with the sky. Maby making it red, or a dark blue or something. It looks good how it is, but maby making it something different may look better?

2. Hey is that BG from a japanese game full of "loveing" type stuff? I can't think of the name, but its got really big ground tiles, and its got 3 main characters. Either way it looks good! The blocks look really neat also. Good job!

3. I want that background!!! That looks amazing man. The ground is really well done, and fits the marioish style very well (probably cause its mostly taken from SMB3?). Does that "Eat Us" bubble flash? The pipe looks a bit to bright for the level tho...darkening the palette maby? This level looks nice.

4. Hate the BG, palette problems in it, and the staus bar. And the ground looks like something from SSW. I really dont like this at all. It looks like something from a completly different hack.

5. I have a BG that looks almost the exact same in my hack. That ground is even used in the level. This screen looks really nice none the less.

6. I'm not much for mechanical metal like backgrounds, but this looks good. Your hack looks awesome!!

I really want a demo of this. It looks awesome, can't wait to play it! Keep up the good work!

Colleen is no longer an admin! All order, or attempt at order, has been shattered. I was in Online users, and saw ||Bass editing the modstats.php or something like that, and next thing I knew, Colleen was a regular user!

I think that would look even worse Glyph Phoenix. If you really wanted to do something to the floor so it doesn't run the same all the way down, is have it fade into black, and not a harsh transition into black. I think that using about 8 colors would do the job.

Comments on the new screens:

1. This level still looks way to empty. The BG looks like something from a NES game too. If you want to keep that BG, fix the palm trees (the yellow bits on it), and maby make them ummm....green!? The hills and mountains are green, when they should be grayish-brown. And the forestry is brown when it should be green. The clouds look really good however.

2. Letters look better, but still not all that great. I suggest a more "fitting" font. You have a dark vamperial type looking screen, with bright bubbley letters. Maby something more gothic and pointy would look better? The lightning is a good idea. Its bright, but it flashes and fades out right?

3. The overworld looks nice, kinda empty, but nice. And oh my god, there are no graphic glitches!! VERY good job at that!

Again, this hack looks nice. Keep up the good work.

So you're saying that you can make it so when mario gets hit, he loses coins instead of lives! Kinda like Wario Land 2 on the GBC? Or sonic? He loses rings, but if he gets hit once when he has 0 rings he dies. That would be a cool ASM hack. If you could do that and make a patch that would be really awesome.

Mario would have like 10 coins, get hit, and those 10 coins would scatter around him avaliable for pick up again until they fade away.

One thing I have always wanted in SMW that I think would be fairly easy to create is a block that can be picked up, but disappears into a puff of smoke and you can walk on the area the block once was. Also have it passable from every side except the top. *Thinks of the sand levels in SMB2

Throw blocks aren't sprites. They are regular tiles. To make sure that its not just that one level, try going to a COMPLETLY UNEDITED level, and insert a throw block. Now test out that level in ZSNES or something, and see if that same graphics probelm happens. I think its probably 1 of 2 things:

1. You may be using messed up files for the level that the graphics are glitched in. The ExGFX files may be to big, resulting in glitches.

2. You may have edited the graphics by accident in YY-chr and now its messing up the throw blocks.

Both are easly fixable, but just test in an unedited level first.
