How do I change the castle entrance level? I dont know if its as easy as changing the level pointer or if its more complicated than that. I need it to point to level 154 if that helps at all.

If anyone knows how to do that, that would be great. Thanks.



Oh, and I was also wondering how to save one page of BG Map16 to file, and put it in another game with out messing up the other BG pages. When I take it from one game the only BG is on page 16 and the rest of the BG's are blank. When I press F7 to save the Map16BG.bin then import it into my other game it changes EVERY page to blank except page 16. So it copies every BG page data instead of just 16. Anyone know how to make it only save 16? Thanks again.

Step 3: Convert that address to a SNES address. Also, change the byte order to the one that the SNES CPU uses. (Not sure in which order the bytes should be... AACCBB?)

This is the only part I am not sure of. Can anyone tell me how to convert to a snes address? I know which number I need to change btw. I also dont know how to change the byte order. So are there any programs that convert to snes address? Thanks

Well, it sort of has a publically accessible search function BMF, that I learned from Jesper. In google, just type what you want to search for, in this case it would be "Chelsea". Now just add "site:board.acmlm.org" (no " ") at the end of your search. It will search this site for the word Chelsea. Not the best search function, but better than going thru a buch of threads

And wouldn't you know it, the answer is on the 8th link from the top.

This is useful in the future when you need to find something quick.

And Darkflight do you have any shots of your hack yet?

Well, I ips'ed it to a 512kb rom and it worked perfectly fine for me.

Anyway, I love the BG in Danger Pass levels!! Quite well done for a noob!

Your hack was very well done, and i think the best idea you had in that hack was the BG's in the castles. It gives them more of an outdoor feel which is pretty cool. Your level design is pretty good to. I wasn't expecting this to be that good, but it was.

2 big glitches I found were:
1. The stars lead either no where or to star world but they mess up other events.
2. The exit out of pipe world worked fine, but when I tried to re-enetr it, it glitched the game up.


Oh and a few of your later levels look almost identical to the originals, just with different endings (or beginnings with same endings).

Good job and I hope to see more!

The way I do screen scrolling pipes is by using the movement blocks (up down left and right at the medium speed in BT). Just make the graphics be pipe tiles with layer priority enabled. Its not as good as Fu's but if you REALLY wanted pipes it would be better than nothing (or using secondary entrances).

And isn't there a SNES tracer? Couldn't you open up the pipe maze level in DW:TLC and trace the code used when passing thru the pipes? If its possible maby you could get the code (in hex) of how to make the pipes. Or even do the same thing in SMB3

And to be on topic, that mario looks really good. I have never heard of this Panic in Nakayosi World game so I guess I will have to look it up. Good job on mario tho.

To all of you who have the IPS and haven't gotten it working, put a fresh 512kb ROM and the IPS in the same directory (I dont think it matters but whatever). Now CLICK on the IPS patch and it will ask you what you want to apply it to (as long as you have IPS patches assigned to work with LIPS). Now just chose the fresh ROM and it will work.

When I first had the IPS, I opened up LIPS and clicked on Apply IPS Patch, but that just messed up the game. So either try it this way, or Kario said ZSNES had patcher that works, so you could use that.

The Red cheep cheep (SMB3) with the blue pixel BG looks like its from an ice level (5-1?) from SMB3 on the NES.

I like the water effect you have on the red cheep cheep (SMB) one, but it looks like you added the lines in paint. If rain (it looks like rain to me) is falling on water, wouldn't it be rippled? The location looks like a water sub-level you get to thru a pipe in like every other level. Love the granident (fade from one color to the next. I can't spell) on the coral!

Good job, waiting to see more!

oh! White block means that smb3 style block with the 4 screws in each cornor that you duck on, it it makes you go behind the screen. Now I see why fu said no layer priority, and this could be very easly done to make vertical pipes, but I still dont get the ones that send you different directions.

Any more hints people?

When I said I didn't understand the ones (meaning the pipes) that send you left, right or up, I dont understand how you can have 1 block be both a behind the screen block, and a directional block. I thought you could only have each block do one thing only...unless you use maby Next Block in Map16 block?

Anyway, some one trace the code for the pipes (or make a block publicly accessable) that can imitate these pipes. I would do it, but, well Im lazy (and even if I did trace to where the code is, it would be useless to me). Hopefully someone figures this out!

I am pretty positive this is from the Japanese version of SM64:

I had a Nintendo Power a LONG time ago that had this shot (except at a different angle, and mario wasn't up on the stairs, he was on ground level below the stairs), and they said it was the japanese version. There were a bunch of shots included and I know 100% this was one of them.

I also remember another cap in the game called the Twin Cap. It made a duplicate of mario, and it made him have that invisible cap look. It showed that you could get the cap by going over the water fall that is located outside the castle. I dont think it was in NP, I think is was on the internet. It could be fake, I dont know. But I remember always trying to fly over the water fall by getting shot out of the cannon with the wing cap on.

Ice Cream cake from Dairy Queen is the best. Especially the one with cookie (oreo?) bits as a middle layer! One of the few things I like that contain vinnila ice cream.

Zem: I think this is pretty obvious. Same as phglem (or flem because I can't spell it correctly) but with a Z sound not an F sound)

For me, Zem is pronounced "your daddy." For everyone else, Zem is pronounced "My daddy." Get it right.


Sorry, Zem, but thats the only word I could think of at the time. Of corse, like someone else said, pronounce it like gem but with a z. I wasn't saying thats what you remind me of or anything...

And hey, my name sort of sounds like meconium...eww. If you dont know what it is look it up on google.

And I couldn't even pronounce that word Ziffski, even if I tried. To short on vowels for me

Really! Oh, guess I will try and find that NP mag. I know for sure they had that screen shot and said it was from the japanese version. Maby it was the beta version but japanese? And since you guys say the japanese version and american version ae the same I figure the betas would be the same too? Hopefully I still have the mag.

I was trying to locate the thread that Mikeyk made. He posted a link to a small demo he made that contained the poison mushroom. And it came out of the question block! I couldn't find the thread tho. So if you want to search for the thread, go ahead. Or maby Mikeyk may post the demo he made in this thread.

Edit:

The mushroom is a regular mushroom replacement, but the original mushroom is still there. The poison mushroom is sprite 17 I think...just search for the thread.
