There are beat em' up games. I d/l one but it really sucked. I am pretty sure we can't ask for links to rom sites but could some one give me a clue as what to google search to find some of these roms?

The code basicly is a block inserter for SMB3 on the nes. It changes block properties. Can some experienced hex/game genie code person tell me where the block data is in the rom, and then how to translate what I find into game genie codes? I really have no clue as to what Im talking about nut this may spark something in somebodys brain and they may think uip something that could be useful

Easy:

1. Do you know how to insert ExGFX?
If not read this:
a) d/l some from the ExGFX Workshop.

b) Unzip and rename the ExGFX**.bin to any number from 80-FFF (Ex: ExGFX80.bin)

c) Put it in the ExGFX folder. (You need to open LM and extract the ExGFX. It will say none present if you don't have any. Now there will be a folder in the same area as your rom)

d)Open LM and insert your ExGFX.

e) Go to a blank TEST level and click Super GFX Bypass (the red mushroom).

f) Change the FG3 (or BG1 if its a BG) to your ExGFX number (if you named it ExGFX80.bin put in 80)

g) make sure the Map16Page and Map16PageG are in the same folder as your rom.

h) Open the 16x16 edito and press F3 (maby F2 you need to LOAD the map16 pages)

Start building

If you want a palette, make sure that the Enable Custom Palette is ON. Its under level. Now go to file> palette> insert level palette> select the palette.

Done. Hope that helps

I have searched MANY MANY different combinations of roms, pc98, pc-98, etc tec. No luck I found one fighting game. I want angel!!!!!!!! Maby thers some on kazza....or morphus.....or imesh.....guess I will have to keep looking.

I don't understand exactly what you said there Blackhole, mainly because I don't know all that hacking, dumps, SPC language stuff. But would it not be possible, instead of trying to find out the SPC for a specific game, to import midi/mp3/wav/whatever files? That way, say I wanted the zelda theme song (which I do!!), I would have an spc dump of that song, then use the music editor to import it from my computer where its stored in mp3? What I got from what you said was that your trying to open the SMW rom, then click import, pick the SMAS rom and it would import the songs from the rom.

I don't know if I explained all that right, as I don't really no to much about this stuff, but IMO it may be eaiser than having to find each games SPC code.

d/l WinRAR (use google), thats the only program I know to do it (there are probably others but use winrar)

I would say that the best completed hack would be luigi's adventure. The graphics, and the awesome new luigi replacement is very well done. Can't wait for LA 2!!

IMO, the 1 **great** thing about DWTLC is the screen scrolling pipes. I would LOVE to have those in my hack...They are so cool!

That flower set is awesome! Sort of like a Yoshis Island/Yoshi's Story feel to it. That flower scares me too but it fits. Very well done!!

You should make a sprite set to go with it. Like ladybugs, bees, dragonflies etc. As turtles, goombas, and spines wouldn't look amazing in that set. They still might fit tho.

Well, these ROMS are incrediblely hard to find. Morphues and imesh wouldn't find any. I did come across a P2P program that ONLY searched for roms, but my stupid comp froze before I could d/l it!

People say there is a site at zophers that has the word EDGE in it that has pc98 roms, but when I checked I couldn't find any. If anyone gets some info on these email me at qq_12344@hotmail.com. Especially if you find some that can be d/l ed.

no, no. I have found the site already, but when I go to the site there is only a link to yet another site claiming to have these roms. Its some chinese site I think and it will not load. Maby these roms don't exist any more...

I have created a BG that uses the bar from Mario Bros3. The level its in will have smb3 mario, turtles, fg etc. Anyway, my problem is when I go vertically the BG follows. Here are some shots of what I mean:


This one is how it should look (what do you think of the palette?)

Then as I climb up, the BG follows.

Now its right behind the level.

Now that I am back where I started, its up one tile to high.

What I am trying to simulate here is the effect of SMB3. I don't know if this requires ASM, or a simple change in LM that I over looked. If someone could help me here that would be great.

BTW, I have a zsnes video that I can upload if you want to see it. These are just shots from it.

EDIT: I will include the BG that is in the first level or second level of world one in SMB3.

I will look again, this is what I have been doing. I got the scroll rates perfect. I figure that it would require ASM for the exact effect but if I could at least get it close that would be great.

EDIT: BTW, the palettes are messed up due to the stupid jpg format...so just ignore that. The in game palette is MUCH better.

OMG MARIO HAS INVADED WINDOWS 98!!!!! AHHHHH....

Anyway, I made a new tileset by taking pics of my win98 system....and editing them in YY-CHR.
Here is a shot:


Really the only things I took from the 98 system was the BACK and FORWARD buttons. The rest I designed my self in yy. In my level all of the 0 and 1 say something. I even have a webpage (not in this shot) type layout that mario will need to read to access a special area in my hack. This level is VERY secret. I will upload the file in a sec. I have no idea what to do exacty so I will need to read the first page. Hopefully you people like it.

EDIT: Here is a link, it contains a bunch of files, you only need 3 (maby 4). You will know which ones you need. Here is the windows 98 tileset.

That BG sort of looks like Stonehenge in the desert Its cool. Hand drawn?

Anyway, for my win98 thing I was going to do the entire level outlined with a window but it covered up my FG. The layer2 and layer 1 are the same color for me so it looked odd. I am trying to create a micro chip BG so its like mario is inside the computer. I have little windows throughout my level as you would see if you d/l my set from that link in my post...

And JJ that night time happy flower set thing is AMAZING!!! It looks so cool and that moon really helps it out!! Just one thing I noticed was that the BG has no stars. It looks somewhat empty but other than that AMAZING!!!

You should try for an evening one with shades of red, orange and yellow. That would be awesome! Maby even a sun-up one. With the Sun just rising in the BG with shades of red, and then the FG with light reds and blues. As if its still partly night but the sun is just brightening stuff up.

I always that that Atma X did that hack.... Anyway on level A there are trees, absolutly amazing!!! I have no idea if he ripped those or made them but they are incredible!! So many awesome things in that hack!!

And if the BG came from MMZ2 then yes the game was out before he made that level. That is unless he some how made that BG and capcom stole it from him....

Those trees would take me days to rip and assign to tiles. Thats why I asked Atma if I could take them from his hack and use them in mine. Luckly he said I could. I am happy now I also used to other things, nothing huge, because it is his hack. He gave me permission to use them and thats why he is first mentioned on my credits list. Thnaks atma

Is this topic only about SMB3 for the nes? or can I ask about SMB3 from SMAS? If so, why doesn't MI3 edit SMAS SMB3? It says it should but it wont. What version of SMAS do I need? And can it be SMAZ+SMW? Thanks.

Ya I only want the SMB3 thing for 2-3 levels, not the entire game. If I knew ASM I would try to make the SMB3 bar actually work, but for now it is just 'fake'. I also need to get rid of the current status bar (asm?); it is turned off in the pictures.

I still haven't got the scrolling to work.

My plan is to:

1. Have the tem boxes at the bottom contain a flower, mushroom or a feather when you collect an extra one. Then when you press select or get hit the item would pop out of the box, go to a specified height, then start falling. Requires High amounts of asm.

2. Have everything else work as normal; coins, time, lives etc.

3. Have world 1 replaced with lvl- 1,2,3 etc. (no a,b,c etc)

4. And if possible, have the arrows turn red when mario runs. Just like in smb3.

So all you status bar modifier people, if you could tell me at least a bit of how this is doable, that would be great. Especially haveing the fields work.

This board can also be about questions based on LM so don't flame or close.

I read on Fu's site that LM can edit smas+smw v1.0 I have downloaded about 10 different .smc files and tried them in LM but it kept saying this is not a 0x200 byte header. I have tried:

1. (U) [!]
2. (E) [!]
3. (E) [b1]
4. (U) [b1]
5. (U) [o1]
6. (U) [o1][h1]
7. (U) [h1]
8. (J)

All files said they were version 1.0. These files were all from the same saite and work perfectly in zsnes. The other files were from other sites but were one of the above types.

What exactly am I doing wrong? Was I mistaken that LM opens smas+smw?

A little hint as to what site carries the file would be great! NOT the site name but just a work that would halp find the site...and don't say google, or yahoo or any search engine name.... Thanks
