YA sORRY ABOUT THAT cRAW, i SHOULD HAVE PUT GRAPHICS INSTEAD OF gfx (opps sorry for caps there. I look at the key board when I type) The folder is called ExGraphics. Its as if LM doesn't want to accept my graphics file. Because I follow steps I am given EXACTLY as they are given and it doesn't work. Do I need to go to the Map16 page I want the ExGFX to be on, save that empty page to get the 2 Map16 files and then try to insert the ExGFX? I really don't understand this stuff without any guidelines. I have read the help file, but its not that great for people whoi are new at inserting new ExGFX without the map16 pages. .

Mario, Zelda, and Gunbound are the 3 rank sets that this board has. Is it possible to create one my self, send it in and have it added to the list so everyone could use it? I notice there is one by Fyxe (the zelda one). Thanks.

I know your really tring to help craw, but that would be perfect if I could get the tiles into Lm, the 8x8 editor, 16x16 editor etc etc. BUT the problem is: 1. I ripped these Gfx from other games. 2. I made a brand new file using YY-CHR. 3. I put these new Gfx into this new file. 4. I renamed this file to ExGFX88.bin. 5. I put this .bin file in the ExGraphics folder. 6. I open LM, hit inset ExGFX, NOTHING HAPPENS! LM will not insert my file. I can't view any of my tiles in the 8x8 or 16x16 editor. The ***ONLY*** way I could possibly see my tiles is by opening up that .bin file in YY-CHR. So in order to follow what you said about the 8x8 and 16x16 edior in LM, I would need to see my tiles in LM. This is irritating I know, but I am sure everyone will love this set I have ripped. Its the SMB3 Mushroom house will some extra gfx NOT from SMAS. |

I guess love is a big word. Yes the set has been done, but not submitted to the workshop. I think you may have solved the problem. It is an entire YY-chr page, so It may be 2 big. Thanks *goes to check* Edit: I couldn't find it for a minute! I was in the wrong folder ANyway, its 8kb EXACTLY. How much should it be? Like 4kb? YES!!!!!!!!! IT FINALLY WORKED!!!! I had to cut the file size down which ment that I needed to sacrifice some GFX, but thats okay. I will do what xkeeper said. Thanks everyone!! Oh and I lost my mushroom house GFX (deleted accidentally I guess) anyway, I have a new cave tileset that fits my hack more. I can upload a screenshot in abit. The only problem is the file is 6kb now (better than 8) and the Bg for some reason acts like water. and the land tiles (the ones I should be able to step on) act like they arn't there. So I need to figure out whats going on. I know the level is not a water level, and the block acts like settings are correct. I think its because of the size of the file. But thanks again to everyone who helped me out with this problem |

I was thinking something along the lines of final fantasy 1 for the nes. It is possible, I could EASLY rip the spirits and such from that. If an admin or mod wants to move this thread to the help and suggestions board that would be great.

There are only 2 numbers I used. I used 25 (The blank tile used by the game to fill in areas) and 130 (The gray cement block) I know that the 130 tiles are directly below mario, so he can walk on them and the 25 tiles are right at his level so he can walk thru them. When I load up the level, it says that the graphics file is too large and may cause glitches during game play.

1. Extract the GFX and ExGFX. 2. It is supposed to say there are no ExGFX. 3. Now go to the ExGFX folder that should be in the same place as your ROM. 4. Now take your ExGFX**.bin (** is a number between 80-FFF) 5. Put the Map16Page and Map16PageG files in the same folder as your ROM. 6. Open up LM and extract the GFX and ExGFX, then reinsert both of them. 7. Click the red mushroom and enable Super GFX bypass. 8. If it is a FG (place where mario walks) change the FG3 to your ExGFX number (80-FFF). 9. Open up the add objects menu and go to the map16 pages. 10. Use the ExGFX in your level. Hope that helps |

Noooo I wanted the FF one! oh well, guess I could go with KATW's idea (if thats okay with him) and do the megaman one. Or maby something else if I think of it. But first, how do I go about starting to make one? Do I just use graphics and save them to an individual file (like MegaMan.png, Dr. W.png etc) and then take all of the files and make it into an .exe? I am/might start one tonight. EDIT: Kasumi-Astra where did you get you post BG? Its nice (edited by Keikonium on 07-07-04 06:46 PM) (edited by Keikonium on 07-07-04 06:47 PM) |

Okay, so I have a tileset that I might upload to the workshop, if people show interest. It is a BG and I think I may be the first to: 1. Have a BG uploaded to the workshop that has NOTHING to do with mario (Thats why I have a feeling not many people will want it) 2. include a level in the zip with the BG constructed, so lazy people (like me) will not need to assemble the BG them selves. So here are the shots let me know what you think: I just need to show this and ask what you people think. It is going to be my little box that holds extra items. Now to the tileset: This is the 16x16. It is not COMPLETE, I need afew more tiles. I originally had the 'planet' round, but not all the tiles would fit, so it is a sort of an egg shape. 8x8 editor. Nothing to exciting. This is what it looks like in LM. I think it looks pretty cool. I have a rockish FG I am going to use, It looks really good with the BG. To see the Bg really good make sure your computer is at the maximum brightness, or enough to see the white lines that follow the rocks Let me know what you think, and if I should upload it to the workshop Edit: Palette still in the works (edited by Keikonium on 07-07-04 07:01 PM) |

I know that but I really cant sacrifice any more tiles. Is there a way I could make 2 seperate ExGFX files and merge them into one, so that I only need to use FG3 instead of say FG3 and FG2? If so That would be perfect.

This is normal. If you follwed my steps above now follow these: 1. use Page Up to go to the next page. Then page up again untill u get to a page with all blue squares. 2. Now go one page above that and press F3 (I think. It should say something like load Map16 PageG and Map16 Page) 3. When you find it click yes. (just try out the F1-9 buttons but read what the screens say!) 4. Now the ExGFX should show up on the blank page. 5. Upload the palette. I hope I didn't miss anything. Let me know if that works Edit: Oh by the way that stuff needs to be done in the 16x16 editor (edited by Keikonium on 07-07-04 07:10 PM) |

Yes I have done that, I guess I could use up every possible tile (I have tiles skipped because I like to line up my graphics. It makes it easier for me) I will go try and fix this up. Thanks everyone. Oh and let me know what you think of my new BG in the ExGFX workshop thread (its on page 22)

So everything else worked? Great! Okay now in LM go to option (I think) its a menu at the top of the screen and there is an option to enable custom palette. Always click this for custom levels, especially if it has ExGFX. Now go to File and down to Palettes. Click insert custom palette. Locate the palette that came with that ExGFX set and double click it. The palette should be inserted into your level. Now save and start building. |

Sonic!! I never thought of that. I may do that one, but now that my brain is in Saga mode, has anyone heard of gunstar? I could do that game. Or sonic 3D blast. If enough people have heard of gunstar thats the one I would do. I love that game!!

Okay, I lined up the graphics, and the file is still 8kb. I have it as 7 tiles high and 16 tiles wide (thats smaller than it has to be) and its still 8kb. I have no idea whats going on. Anyway, I figured out how to fix the water problem, the only catch is that I have to start the level on screen 3. Here are some more shots shwing this water problem: This is the tileset that I will upload to the ExGFX workshop as soon as it gets finished. If you can see the bubbles above mario and the fact that he is falling thru the ground, thats the problem I am having with this tileset. The palette is still not finished on mario, and possibly the status bar. I need to fix the box at the top too. BTW, the place where mario is (on those tiles, the ones with the skulls) is supposed to be walk thru-able but the ones below it are supposed to be solid. This is not the case. Thats the problem. I included a zsnes and LM shot here to show that the water (zsnes) is not there in LM. It is added for some reason. Also the rock pillar thats floating (LM) is not there is zsnes. It is replaced by a tile that is located else where in the level. I can fix ALL of this stuff by starting the level on screen 3 but I don't want to do that . I guess I need abit more help . |

nope, my level is the exact properties as one of the TEST levels. The only dif is that it has a darkBG. but im 110% sure thats not the problem, because I tried it with a normal BG too, and the same thing happens. How would I go about cutting it down to size? Do I delete all the characters at the end of the file? I think it may be the FF's or 00's. |
