Since I'm obviously able to post right now, this topic applies to my second computer. The specs for it:

Windows XP with DirectX 9 (no service pack yet)
256MB ram
Athlon XP 2500+ @ 1.8ghz (read my cpu thread about this)
Biostar M7NCD Pro
nForce chipset?

Anyway, Windows doesn't properly detect the onboard ethernet. Manually adding it makes Windows think it's a Microsoft Loopback Adaptor. WTF is that? Two different drivers sets aren't working. 1 is from Biostar, the other is Nvidia's. Here's the board's page: http://www.biostar-usa.com/mbdetails.asp?model=m7ncd+pro

Great board. Has no lame intergrated graphics, and includes absolutely every CMOS option needed in serious overclocking. The ultra model can use SATA. The lack of that on mine is a disappointment.

Never mind. The LAN adaptor was somehow disabled in CMOS. I've got some networking and other issues, but it's too much for here. I'll bring them up in a one-size-fits-all super thread tommorow. Too late at night... Someone else is using the same time zone as me? *Yawn*

I never actually saw one of those newer SNES models in person, but some of my local stores were selling them for a very short time in the late 90s. They have no RF, and I've seen wireless controller receviers that probably wouldn't fit. I'm not sure if it has the bottom expansion port. Nothing outside of Japan used that, just like N64.

Pretty certain no compatibility issues exist game-wise. The system was often (always?) sold with SMW2, as in that picture. Try cleaning those games. Make sure not to use anything abrasive or strong chemicals. A cotton swab might work, unless it rips.

If you need a switchboard, that will much cost less than another SNES. They're $9.99 or 4 for $20! on this site, and includes the box>TV wire. http://store.yahoo.com/shoptronics/avauvisysesw.html
SNES video cables are identical to what comes with every N64 and GC. Very easy to find because of that. Type "audio video selector" into Froogle, without the quotes. Mine is a Performance brand, like many of my game accessories. I think they're a division of the now-closed Interact.

I'll put it very flatly. I'm fed up with this place, no less for Mr. Bush. Mandatory education for children when they're better working on farms. It'd save tons of oil powering those huge machines. No ban on public smoking. Most businesses don't allow it inside, but they simply hang out in front of the nearest gas station. Churches, religious television, etc. I'm a solid atheist, so it disgusts me. What am I to do?

I've got no car, no income aside from government disability, no certificate of any kind from secondary or post-secondary education, etc. Any serious suggestions on leaving?

Is it allowed here to ask IF a rom has been released, but not where to find it? I have no problems with that part. It's just how so many sites disagree on what the correct numbering system for new releases should be. Take for example #2130 which is very recent. That is given to Koala Brothers - Outback Adventures (E) by some people, 2130 - Dr. Mario & Panel de Pon by others, and Fantastic 4 still elsewhere. That probably means each set is missing a game or two. Of course, I'd have no idea which. I'm curious about Megaman Zero 4 at the moment. One site says it just came out, others haven't updated in a few days. I hope the rom news posters clean up this mess soon.

You do know what the larger problem is? It's the Protestants. They claim salvation, but are using subtle (or non-subtle as in Hitler) means to control the masses. I specifically count them as being terrible. Catholics don't interfrere with the lives of people like me. Worst of all are White Protestant Smokers. A very common set of attributes around here. Going by that, I'm probably best of in central or south Africa. Few there can afford tobacco, not many are white, and there's a wide variety of religions.

I'm also sick of this "get a car" and "get a job" stuff. That is not my lifestyle! I don't need that. I've grown to exist in the virtual world. Acmlm is home. I hate the W.P.S.

I skipped the first 2 games, than finally got Burnout 3 from it's hype. I'm keeping it, but haven't played in weeks. It made me a bit frustrated how Revenge was advertised in the game box to be $39.99, then came out as $49.99 anyway.
It'd help if the online mode actually had opponents in my current game. I'll have to try this new one and see if it's appeal lasts enough for me to finish the missions. I hope that F-1 racer is toned down, it was too fast to control. I'm going off to play now.

I know it's been a long time since I've said anything related to Pokemon hacks, so I'll give the status of each attempt.

Ruby: Cancelled. I had some changes going, but my computer rebooted during Elitemap. The ROM was corrupt afterward.

GSC: Gold is in the trash. The map editor around back then didn't edit enough areas to be worthwhile. Crystal is gone too. Only program I could find was a trainer editor. Battle-only is not a useful type of hack IMO.

Red: Semi-active. I need more complete editing tools. It's goal is to make fighting gym leaders in any order possible, and still a challenge. Map progress: 85%, Wild Pokemon: 75%, Trainers: 0%, Title screen: 0%, Starter Pokemon: 100%, Text: N/A, GFX/SFX: N/A.

So, that leads to my requests. I'll do the work myself, just need a method for it.

_Red version_

What map editor supports Route 23?
How can I make Veridian Gym open without needing badges?
Is there a way to change trainer's Pokemon, or their levels more importantly?
I blocked Missingno by putting a wall on the Cinnabar coast, is that the most effective plan?

I'll ask for anything on newer versions in a seperate thread. I don't want to focus on editing all one of them at the same time. The Red project might become an overhaul if a program for every feature is avaliable now.

Not a problem. I can wait. I'd also like to get back on editing Ruby or Sapphire, but every time I try the offsets are wrong. It seems the programs want 1.0 ROMs without a release group intro (like Mode7, Mugs, etc). That happens to be the most difficult to find version. I'll keep looking, since my ideas are fresh.

As I've said before, I want to get back into hacking one of them. I'm having trouble figuring out which ROM is supported by the most editors. I think it's (U) 1.0. Except that tends to have an intro, which of course moves the data. So much for correct offsets. In (E) 1.0, I could view all Pokemon in rsball, but it's trainer backpics were missing. Elitemap wouldn't open it at all. Fonted didn't show any problems. Any help as to which ROM I should look for? I'm good at finding the sites, so don't worry about that.

Is there a forum somewhere that is good for asking about DIY video game repair? Like fixing rubber button contacts, how to rewire joysticks, or anything else of the sort. It will help me a lot.

I agree with ExGFX labels. The latest LM allows up to FFF, which is 4095 in decimal. Who wants to keep track of that in Notepad? I definately need to go through my GFX and see what's there. 160 or so is challenging enough.

I can't give links, but I'll tell you most editors are built for Pokemon Ruby or Sapphire 1.0 US. It isn't easy to find, being how many different ROMs there are. IIRC: English (US 1.0, 1.1), English (Europe), French, Italian, German, Spanish, and Japanese (1.0, 1.1). Most of those have a FR/LG sibling too. Only US and Japan 1.0 exists for Emerald at the moment. I hope the rest aren't dumped.

FYI: the ROM you want has an intro by Mugs.

Posted on 10-18-05 09:58 PM, in DivX to DVD-R? Link
I want to take a bunch of DivX AVI files and convert them into a compilation for playing on standalone TV DVD players. You know, all the movies on one disc with a menu to choose. As for programs to burn with: I have Nero 6 minus the all-important DVD plug-in. Meaning it's ready for data discs, but not movies. Any detailed tutorials on this? I can find software, though it won't be useful without knowing how everything works.

Edit: It seems the drive came with a disc which features the plug-in, I'll install that.
Edit2: Nevermind. I know what to do, looks like DVD-9 discs will be a very good investment. These files take up so much more space as DVD than DivX.

Posted on 10-23-05 12:38 PM, in Ejecting disks from a Mac USB drive connected to Windows XP Link
First, look at the topic title. I don't want to repeat myself. The situation is that I happen to have an Imation Superdisk USB drive. It reads all floppies wonderfully, but I'm having trouble with how to eject a disk. I've tried the button, a toothpick, and pressing the button while plugging/unplugging it's power cable. There is no Eject command in the My Computer file menu either. So, what should I do?

Drive model: Imation SD-USB-M2
Disk type I need to eject: standard 1.44mb floppy
Operating system: Windows XP SP2

I figured it out. The software eject feature is only for SuperDisks. With normal floppies, a thumbtack can slide into the button's hole and open it. For now, this little problem is solved.

Posted on 11-01-05 03:48 PM, in FCEU savestates Link
Ok... I'm not sure how easy this is to explain, but it'll help me a lot. I recently came upon rather odd issues running FCEUD 0.98.13. As in WTF-ish. Like clicking on the game window will function as start+select, and hard to control characters in various games. So, my first thought was "why not try a newer version?". This led me to FCEUXDSP 1.05. I'm now having no emulation problems. However, I don't know how to make my savestates work on the new one. Let's say for example, this save I want to move/edit/rename/etc is currently named CV3J.fcs. What would I do for the later emulator to recognize it?
