3D gameplay should revive the dismal state handheld gaming has been in for several years. I mean, SNES ports and $300 cell phones? That's going too far. Lack of 3D processing is GBA's biggest flaw, so these new handhelds will certainly give some reason to buy games again. Just please, give us a 3D F-Zero game and finish that old Yoshi's Story project. Now the modern laptop PC is going to have competition in terms of graphics (I don't own one).

This post has been updated!

For some reason, I can't use it. The program has a different problem in each browser, and my Java is up-to-date (this never happened back in the Windows 98 with MSJVM days).

MSIE: When Pagebuilder tries to load, Windows pops up a debug error.

Mozilla: Pagebuilder almost finishes loading, then it says "you are no longer logged in, please login and click retry." It gives the same message every time retry is clicked. After a few times, the browser closes.

Firefox: Loads completely, then closes also.

BTW, why does Netscape do nothing after clicking on the program icon? It's been like that for months, even after being reinstalled, multiple versions of Windows, and a new motherboard?

What other browsers are there? At least one of them must be good. Remember, I use Windows XP, so nothing for Linux or Mac will help.

Spybot S&D didn't fix anything, and that's a very powerful tool. Maybe it's possible for me to put in the old MSJVM.

FTP only works for paying accounts, I think.

Nevermind my Geocities problem - it runs great in the Opera browser. How strange!

They don't make flash carts for using on a real SNES? If that's what he wants, there's no need to compile or assemble anything. Just connect the flash cart to a PC, upload a ROM, then put that into the SNES and play. Putting SNES games on GBA isn't so easy. Leave that for the big development teams (you could kindly ask Nintendo to port it, but I doubt it'll work).

I vote for the first game.

Warning! SMB3 rant below:

This wasn't terrible or anything, but is highly overrated. Without saving, it was too difficult. With the feature, it's too easy. There doesn't appear to be a way to balance the problem. "Best selling of all time"? Not a chance. I never liked the graphic style used in this or Super Mario Sunshine (that's off-topic). The gameplay, music and control were OK. Quite a few games were better. SMB1, Zelda, Mega Man (especially #3)... Really, SMB3 was an average game targeted towards the raving Mario fanbase of the late 80's and early 90's.

Used to use Peach a lot, but I guess it's now Luigi.

One thing though, why does my SMB2 ROM claim to have a battery? There's no way to use it.

Posted on 06-07-04 02:38 PM, in NTFS + other drive issues Link
I recently installed a 200GB hard drive using 100% of the space for a single FAT32 partition, and noticed something. Each cluster (or is it an allocation unit?) is 32KB! It seems like an inefficient use of disk space, since 8GB partitions only use 8KB for the smallest files. Would NTFS improve my performance in this situation?

The formatting process was difficult, since Fdisk doesn't work too well on such large drives. It's only set up for letter C. Why is the size showing up as 186GB? I'm confused by that. 100% of 200GB should be obvious. I used a Windows 98 CD to format it, but not for an OS.

Also: is there a program that can run tests to find out if my motherboard's floppy port went bad? It won't respond to anything connected.

Woohoo! I think she's finally convinced to try a different approach. In other words, my efforts haven't been wasted. I'll put the reasons why in another thread so this one doesn't go off-topic.

I seem to be. It's got a few signs of proof. Some of my relatives actually earned a little money, so I got a hard drive and some computer games. Also, one of the most beautiful (and hottest) girls around is likely to marry me in the next few years. I've been able to run PC games with a better framerate because of the faster CPU. Doing that required new memory and a motherboard.

Post your luck! If a previously boring or depressing life is on the way up, I'd like to hear it.

PSP uses some special kind of disc, that would make it pretty difficult for emulator makers to figure out. N-Gage shouldn't be that tough. Though, I don't know of any projects on it. DS hasn't been distributed to the public yet, so it's chances are unknown at this point.

This is strange! Every time I load the game in VBA, it shows a black and white screen saying "ERROR Flash hardware could not be detected. Saving is disabled."
Like the message says, it doesn't save at all. There's no glitches while it's being played though. Any solution?

Posted on 06-18-04 09:57 AM, in SMW2 > Super Mario 64 = coincidence? Link
Anyone notice these similarites between the games? Except for things which obviously are in every title.

1: the ground pounding move, and "crushable" poles
2: red coins
3: that one bonus game music
4: no scoring for defeated enemies (at least this was in SMB2)
5: level-by-level rating system (SMW2 used points, SM64 uses stars and coins)
6: a very large final boss, compared to previous Mario games at least

I can only wonder if they were developed by the same team.

Why not? There are so many TCGs being played. M:tG, Pokemon, Star Wars, Yu-Gi-Oh... Nice suggestion.

Posted on 06-19-04 02:46 AM, in Help! IE homepage = WTF? Link
Now this has got to be the strangest web browser-related problem I've ever seen. Here's a screenshot. http://img18.photobucket.com/albums/v54/theclaw/iehomewtf.jpg

It keeps resetting back to the above page no matter what's done. Don't go telling me to switch browsers, Firefox, Opera and a few others are installed on my computer. Scans with Spybot S&D, Norton Antivirus, and Ad-Aware reveal nothing. Windows is fully up-to-date with all it's service packs, etc. The problem started just an hour or 2 ago. Any idea on how to get rid of this bizarre issue? My next step is to try a firewall, unless WINXPPRO (what a nickname!) has one built-in.

FYI: this post is from Firefox.

Thanks! I guess the most popular programs can't track everything.

On second thought, it seems to come back after a while. Doesn't anybody recognize that page? There's got to be a permanent solution.
