ZKNSGOAO: Astyanax - enemies are twice as hard

This code really needs further testing though, and may not work once you get new weapons.

Blaster Master:
NNVOGTUY: Turbo fire while in car
NYEEKAUY: Turbo Fire outside of car
NYSEKTUY: Turbo Fire outside of car in overhead view (also causes you to shoot when throwing bombs)

Not sure if this is what you wanted jigg, but I got to messing around and got this code YAUUZLPA, which gives one type of those robots 7 health points instead of 1. If you wanted all types of the robots to be harder to kill, I doubt a code like that could be done.

Metroid Codes:
AENGKNAP: Jump while in midair. Only works from a stand still
GXNITKPA: All bullets go through solid objects

Megaman 2:
OZNVYTSV - All enemies die in one hit.
OZXXITSV - Bosses Die in one hit
NNUPLLPE + NNNPLPPK - Start Game With All Weapons
OPNGSNOU + GPVKONAO - Inf Weapon Energy (Note: The second code isn't really needed. It just makes the energy bar appear full, but as a side effect it moves it to the right by a few pixels)
IANIUZGA - Megaman has 4 shots
TANIUZGA - Megaman has 5 shots
YANIUZGA - Megaman has 6 shots
AANIUZGE - Megaman has 7 shots
LZVSSZYZ - Turbo Fire
ZEOIYGGA - Slow Bullets
PEOIYGGA - Very Slow Bullets
TEOIYGGA - Fast Bullets
AEOIYGGE - Faster Bullets
ZEOIYGGE - Mega Fast Bullets
IEOIYGGE - Ultra Fast bullets

More to come later.

You don't need an IPS of these codes, just wait till FCEUXD is released. It'll let you go right to the offset that the code affects and change it directly from the hex editor, and you can save your rom.

I haven't had much time lately, or I would have more codes. Here are a few.

Stanley - The search for doctor Livingston
SLUTGNVS - Infinite Weapon Energy
SPVNONSU - Have All Weapons (Note: With this code, you'll have a random amount of shots for each weapon. It resets each time you change weapons. So, if you run out of shots, just reselect the weapon. Or use this with the infinite Weapon Energy Code)

Star Soldier
OXUOITVV - No Enemies (I stumbled on this code completely by accident while searching for something else)
AEEOUTPA - Invincible to Enemies
AESPXTPA - Invincible to enemy bullets
AASPOYPA - Invincible to bosses

I'll try and make a start with the best weapon upgrade code later.

As for making the star tropics code - I said I don't do RPGs. Actually, I'd do it but making that code would involve getting far enough into the game to actually acquire the move, which would be terribly boring for me. If someone wants to email me an FCEU saved state where you gain that move, I'd attempt it.

Googie: I seriously doubt a code like that could be done for SMB, that sounds like it would require a major ASM hack.

Manic: Metroid's routines for handling samus, and for handling the bullets, are coded in really crazy ways. That multi jump code was just stumbled on by accident. Because of the way it is coded, I doubt any of those codes are even possible, sorry.

Breakman: Megaman 3 is my favorite game as well, which is why I've made the best codes for it.

Making Game Genie Codes like this was one of my childhood dreams. I know I would have given anything to have these codes back then.

Mega Man 3
ENXETAEI - Complete Invincibility - Enemies go right through megaman.
TPSKSYGP - Turbo Fire While Standing
TOSIAAGP - Turbo Fire While jumping
TOVSYGGP - Turbo Fire While on ladder
GAUSILLA + GEEYVLLA - Mega Buster has 4 shots
IAUSILLA + IEEYVLLA - Mega Buster has 5 shots
TAUSILLA + TEEYVLLA - Mega Buster has 6 shots
YAUSILLA + YEEYVLLA - Mega Buster has 7 shots
AAUSILLE + AEEYVLLE - Mega Buster has 8 shots
OXKAYPON - All Enemies Die in one hit.
AZKKKIAG - 1/2 gravity for megaman
ZZEEIAIS - 1/2 Gravity for all enemies
APEEIAII - 1/4 Gravity for all enemies
SLXEGXSO - bosses don't have temporary invincibility when shot
AAOEGPAZ - Mega Buster doesn't bounce off of any enemies
SLUEPXOO - Mega Buster bullets go through enemies (Also causes most enemies to die in one hit since it keeps subtracting from their health. For some reason this code also makes the boss faces appear messed up in the game ending)
ZAKGNIPA - Fast Megaman
LAKGNIPA - Super Fast Megaman
GAKGNIPA - Mega Fast Megaman
AEKIILZE + AAUKEIZE - Mega Fast sliding.

and now, for a really cool code
AVSNAXAK + KXUGKOKO + YUSEAEYO + KZNUEVKO: Lifebar has 16 more energy points. (The first code causes the lifebar to be drawn larger. the second code causes you to start with more energy. The third code allows enemy hits to subtract properly from the larger lifebar. The fourth code lets powerups work properly. If you are actually doing this on a real NES, and can't enter more than 3 codes, then skip the last one.)

Keep the requests coming.

edit: fixed the turbo fire while jumping code. If anyone notices any other non-working codes, let me know.

edit2: I can't believe my mega fast megaman code, which I created, is the same as the galoob code. Oh well.

Merry Christmas everyone!

FCEUXD is an all purpose tool for debugging/hacking/reverse engineering nes roms. This utility makes it extremely easy to do things never before possibly to nes roms.
I'm hoping this utility, with all of its features, will turn nes rom hacking upside down.

And, I can't believe it! After a long hard year of working on it, it is finally time for release!

you can find it here:

http://fceuxd.infinihost.net/

(note that ifyou get here early, and it still says "Coming Soon" on that page, then wait about 20 minutes. I should have it ready then.)

Maybe we say this because that is exactly how we learned.

I never had anyone teach me anything as far as programming or assembly goes. I did some research, read some tutorials, spent time working on some programs. And here I am!

I'm sure you'll hear similar stories from every other skilled asm coder/hacker you'll meet.

We will help you, if you have any specific questions, or are having problems with something. Such help would have been immensly useful to us while learning, because we certainly had problems grasping certain things, but we don't have the time to spend teaching others all that we learned, by doing research, because they're too lazy to do the same research.

And, I'm sure you'll hear the same thing, or something similar, from almost everyone.

Actually, I wouldn't call that rude. I agree that is is a lot more convient than fceud alone.

That isn't saying anything bad about fceud. Parasyte did an excellent job on it, and we have him to thank for this. Because, if it weren't for fceud, there would be no fceuxd.

Thanks a lot for all of the support, I really do appreciate it. Nothing like having 40+ replies with nothing but thank you. All the time I spent writing the code really payed off.

Anyway, I wanted to show a couple of other things.

First, dan has released his rom curruptor that works with *.cdl files that fceuxd generates.
you can find it here
http://dan.panicus.org/index.php?title=Sapros
I'm not into curruption, so I haven't tested this, but I can say that it will certainly make finding stuff through curruption a whole lot easier. Since it only currupts data, games should not crash nearly as frequently as they currently do. And if you want to find level data, all you have to do is log part of that level into the *.cdl file, then, finding it should be a snap.

Secondly, to fill Coby's request, I made a tutorial for finding enemy health, which you can find here:
http://fceuxd.infinihost.net/EnemyHealth.txt

Thanks again guys, you don't know what it means to see all the thank you's

Just wanted to say, I believe I was the first to find the energy bytes. I found the $102e7 offset back in 2002, using nesten. I remember posting it to this very forum (and impressing everyone, because no-one else could find it).

I might attempt to find some other things in this game. It was one of my favorites.

googie: you can already find inf energy codes for ninja gaiden 1 here:
http://www.gscentral.com/codes.pl?dev=gg&sys=nes&game=ninjagaiden

and ninja gaiden 3 here
http://www.gscentral.com/codes.pl?dev=gg&sys=nes&game=ninjagaiden3

New rule guys: always check gscentral.com before making code requests.

Also, I know I'm the one making codes here, but I just wanted to compliment Dahrkdaiz
for making that blocks don't disappear code for tetris. That is an awesome code

I consider these ninja gaiden start on xx level codes quite an accomplishment
for myself, because the game never explicitly sets the starting level number. I
had to spend atleast an hour finding some ASM code I could tap into to get this
effect. So, be sure to try them out.

Anyway, here are the codes:

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 1:
GANXYYZA + UNEZPNSN: fast running.
EUXPSPEY: one hit kills most enemies

Ninja Gaiden:
EYXEIPEI: Bypasses the title screen, and immeadieatly starts at first level.
XZUVASXT + VAKTYIVZ + PAUVPSXT: Start at level 1-2
XZUVASXT + VAKTYIVZ + ZAUVPSXT: Start at level 2-1
XZUVASXT + VAKTYIVZ + LAUVPSXT: Start at level 2-2
XZUVASXT + VAKTYIVZ + GAUVPSXT: Start at level 2-3
XZUVASXT + VAKTYIVZ + IAUVPSXT: Start at level 3-1
XZUVASXT + VAKTYIVZ + TAUVPSXT: Start at level 3-2
XZUVASXT + VAKTYIVZ + YAUVPSXT: Start at level 3-3
XZUVASXT + VAKTYIVZ + AAUVPSXV: Start at level 4-1
XZUVASXT + VAKTYIVZ + PAUVPSXV: Start at level 4-2
XZUVASXT + VAKTYIVZ + ZAUVPSXV: Start at level 4-3
XZUVASXT + VAKTYIVZ + LAUVPSXV: Start at level 4-4
XZUVASXT + VAKTYIVZ + GAUVPSXV: Start at level 5-1
XZUVASXT + VAKTYIVZ + IAUVPSXV: Start at level 5-2
XZUVASXT + VAKTYIVZ + TAUVPSXV: Start at level 5-3
XZUVASXT + VAKTYIVZ + YAUVPSXV: Start at level 5-4
XZUVASXT + VAKTYIVZ + APUVPSXT: Start at level 6-1
XZUVASXT + VAKTYIVZ + PPUVPSXT: Start at level 6-2
XZUVASXT + VAKTYIVZ + ZPUVPSXT: Start at level 6-3
XZUVASXT + VAKTYIVZ + LPUVPSXT: Start at level 6-4 - First Boss
XZUVASXT + VAKTYIVZ + GPUVPSXT: Start at level 6-4 - Second Boss
XZUVASXT + VAKTYIVZ + IPUVPSXT: Start at level 6-5 - Final Boss
EOXVELAP: Ninja Gaiden - Partially invincible after taking first hit. (note: With this code, the invincibility goes away after you attack or jump)

Bonk's Adventure
ESSPVYEY: Invincible to all enemies
ESNOXPEY: Invincible to the volcanic ground
EYOPVGEI: Invincible to the flashing ground in 2-2

Lately I've been mostly making invincibility codes. Here is all that I have made:

Contra Force:
EIVZVPEY: invincibility
OZUTUYSX: walk anywhere in overhead levels (note: this code makes you fall and die instantly in sidescrolling levels. So, you should only activate it in the overhead levels)

Festers Quest:
AEUKKGEA: walk through anything (Great for exploring!)
AEETNAAG: fester's quest - shoot through walls
ZAKGULAA: light is automatically activated in sewer (this code might have unknown side effects)
PAKGULAA: stairs in overworld lead to underworld instead of sewers (might have unknown side effects)

Punch Out:
ALNEYAEI: opponents always miss
PAUOEZIA + PEKPUZIA + PAVPNLIA: some of your punches do little damage (untested - someone please test this, not sure if it even works well, or if all codes are needed)
UKKAIKVO + XEKATGLA: opponents always refill to full life after KO

Megaman:
ESXOYPEY + EIUSIZEY: Invincibility

Megaman 2:
EIUGVTEY: Invincibility

Megaman 4:
ESSAPAEY: invincibility

Megaman 5:
ENEEZAEI: invincibility

Megaman 6:
ESXAKTEY: Invincibility

Tou can find a megaman 3 invincibility code in a previous post. These are great for playing through the games with ease.

Don't let this thread die... Keep the requests coming...

Wow, I had fun doing these always fire charged shots codes... They really make the game interesting.

Chickenlump, you can already find a high jump code at gscentral.

Anyway, here they are! And as always, keep the requests coming!

Fester's Quest:
ZEXZLNYP: enemies appear all at once

Megaman 4:
LXKESKAP + IUSAOGPX + NYKEUILX: Always fire super charged shots (The first code makes you fire charged shots, second code makes it use the proper sound effect, and the third code allows you to fire three at once.)

Megaman 5:
EXOPGSAO + NNNOLEEX + AXXPLSZP: always fire charged shots
OXOPGSAO + NNNOYEOX + PXXPLSZP: always fire super charged shots (These codes are in the same order as the previous game, where the first code makes you fire charged shots, second code makes it use the proper sound effect, and the third code allows you to fire three at once.)

Megaman 6:
ZGOAATAP: Always Fire Charged Shots
PLOAATAO: Always Fire Super Charged Shots

I just wanted to say, don't feel bad. I am the same way with even the simplest things.

You'd be amazed how stupid I feel sometimes, and yet people may look up to me for working on FCEUXD, and many other things.

What counts is that you're diving into this stuff. Just by taking that first step, you've gone farther than many others. So feel free to ask any more questions. You'll get better if you keep trying.

And yes, I have lost my wallet several times, and I am terrible to leave my headlights on.

Personally, I find this whole reaction a bit hypocritical. Think about what you are doing here.

You are stealing a rom which is a copyright work under law, and hacking it for your mere satisfaction, and this is OK? Yet, you must protect your hacks, and if anyone comes along to undo that it is not OK?

Well, how do you think nintendo feels about your work being a hack of their game?

This is the exact same reason Nintendo sends legal threats to ROM Sites. Because they feel rom sites threaten the safety of their work!

This fear of someone stealing your work has has lead to the DMCA. It has lead to the RIAA suing innocent people for sharing a few music files. And, perhaps worst of all, it has lead to closed source software.

The ethics of both are in fact, very compatible. You folks claim that this program threatens the safety of your hack, while Nintendo claims that Video Game Emulators "represents the greatest threat to date to the intellectual property rights of video game developers." Sound Familiar?

The truth behind it all, which everyone will just have to either accept now, or find out later (the hard way) is that no piece of data is safe from anyone sharing, reverse engineering, or doing whatever they wish to do with it once you give it to them. If you put some form of protection on it, it only invites others to break in. And they will. Lunar Magic itself is a form of breaking into a protected rom.

I'm not trying to side with Nintendo in any way, I believe they are wrong in trying to deny us access to these old games on our PC. But I also feel you guys are wrong for believing that your hacks must be protected or kept safe, when the the very definition of hacking is "breaking into."
