Ok, Im getting the hang of it now. You pretty much got to do a search for the 3 colors. And dont bother posting the transparent color in your search. I've begun the color transforming in my hack now.

I've been chhanging the colors with a different hex editor. I didnt know that you could make permanent changes with fceuxd's hex editor. That should speed up the process.

The reason I started out on nesticle is cause most of the faqs I was reading were outdated and their instructions told me to use it. I hardly open it anymore now that I am getting to understand fceuxd.

The new sprites look good. The mudman thing looks pretty good especially. I've never seen a mudman jump tho.

You will have to change the colors with a hex editor. It's easier than you think. You can use hexicute and FCEUXD for the job. Find a faq for it at http://www.romhacking.com/docs/gendocs.php

So you say you are using the smb2 editor to change things? Exactly how would you change the contents of the plants? I've been trying to figure that out but ain't got it yet.

I seen part of this too. I was skeptical of it before, but it was pretty good.

Sorry, I forgot about the thread. Thanks for the info. I wasn't sure if there was something wrong with my rom or what. i was thinking of doing something with it and wanted to make sure there was no problems with it.

You don't have the first clue what you're talking about.

NESticle is not slow. It's arguably the fastest working emu available (although the corners it cuts show when you use it)

FCEUXD "nearly on par to NESticle"? Are you stoned? The only thing FCEUXD lacks from NESticle is runtime CHR-rom editing. On the reverse, NESticle lacks any sort of credible emulation (it's hacking and sloppy, and GROSSLY inaccurate). FCEUXD has a full debugger, memory viewer/editor, PPU viewer, runtime hex editor, nametable viewer, code tracer, etc, etc etc. How you figure NESticle has any sort of advantage is beyond me.

If you're doing anything beyond simple graphics/text/level editing (ie: when you'd actually have any use for an emu built for rom-hacking)... using NESticle is out of the question due to its emulation problems. Not to mention it won't even run a lot of games. It even has trouble with a lot of mainstream ROMs -- let alone the obscure ones.

So to recap

NOBODY SHOULD BE RECOMMENDING NESTICLE TO ANYONE

It's a bad emulator. It's not even decent -- it's bad. The only time anyone should be using it is if they're on a POS 133 machine or something and it's the only emu fast enough for them to run -- and even then there might be better options (like LoopyNES)

As for FCEUXD (or FCEUd) -- it's one of the very few emulators available with a full debugger (and no... NESticle does not have a debugger). The only emus which might be able to even squeeze into the same category are NESten (buggy), and Nintendulator (slow - more of a tracer than a debugger - hard to use). And if you use either emu for hacking for more than 10 minutes, you'll clearly see why FCEUXD has them trumped in this department.

So please stop encouraging NESticle use. It's bad enough people still use it because they're too lazy to switch, we don't need to hook beginners in and tell them to use one of, if not the worst popular NES emu in existance.

Wow, I hate to see what this looked like before you edited it. At least you stopped short of cursing.

You guys need to stop peter_ac'ing the thread. The Graphic Workshop thread in Super Mario World hacking got closed down because some posters got some kinda testosterome rush and decided to stop contributing things. You've all established your dislike of Nesticle. Now lets get back on topic and hear of other emulators.

A major tool? Isn't that the equivalent of calling someone a pantyhose, or a can of soda. Cause I hear little kids blasting out those comments all the time. Whats with the personal attacks (puzzling as they are) cause you dont like the subjecct matter. Attack the subject matter and don't resort to the personal attacks.

I wouldnt want one of them rottweiler dogs. Those things are dangerous. I hear in parts of canada they are outlawed. And some places require you to register them as lethal weapons.

So, are we talking about the Terry Schiavo case here? cause the link isnt working. In the Terry Schiavo case. I feel that it would be better to let her live in the parents care.

Her ex husband has stated he has moved on with his life so I dont know why he cares. Well actually, I think I do. He is entitled to insurance money when she dies. And it is said that he caused her to be in the condition she is now. X-rays taken about a year or so after she entered her current state they showed that she had bruised ribs. Signs he could have abused her. Actually, the rumour is he strangled her and brought her to this condition. Certainly now he is showing signs of being the abusive type. Look how he continues to take away whatever rights he can from her parents to see their daughter. Currently he is planning to have her cremated, but her being catholic the family feels she should be given a proper christian burial. And so far he has not announced whether the funeral will be public or private. I wouldn't be suprised if he were to privatize it and not invite the parents. He has even decided he is going to bury her ashes in HIS family burial plot, while the parents wanted to have her in their family plot where they could visit her. So he is even trying to take away their right to see their daughter after she is dead. I also seeen him being interviewed on Larry King, and most of his conduct was pretty calm and composed, but there was a moment where I could see it was clear spin and he didn't release the complete story. It was an attempt to villianize the parents to make them appear they don't care for their daughter (Which is obviously not true). His lawyer intervened tho and filled in the missing details.

Anyway, I think if she does have to go, it shouldn't of been the way she is going now. It's one thing to pull the plug on a brain dead person, cause it is a quick death. But this woman can breathe on her own. So pulling the plug isn't an option. You have to dehydrate her until she dies, which is pretty shocking to see in america. I mean, even your hardened criminals aren't taken out in that way. They get a short death (5 minute max). I'd of been a little more for her death if they had administered some sorta drug or something more humane.

In closing, Micheal Schiavo is a bastard and I'd like very much to see him taken out in the same manner he took his wife out.

Damn, I hope I won't have to see that picture of Oliver again. I know it isn't a real humanzee, but I can't help but think of it when I look at the pic. He certainly seems humanistic.

I guess out of curiousities sake I would like to see a human/animal hybrid. But I won't promote it in being made.

Reading this thread reminds me of those covers of "Weekly World News". Batboy and Horse with a humans face specifically. Those pics crack me up.

I don't think getting a nuclear attack from terrorist is much to worry about. The materials to make a nke are pretty hard to come by in the 1st place.

From what I can recall, sometime in the 80's I believe a number of terrorists doing various plane hijackings were coming from Iran. So this is obviously a Terrorist producing Place. You obviously don't want a terrorist producing country to have possession of nuclear weapons. I guess there isn't so much that we can do physically cause I don't think we can tie up our army in any kind of war right now. Plus GW's popularity is waning compared to when he started the Iraq war. So he won't have the support for military action like he did before. I guess the only thing that can be done is to continue the pressure on Iran until they crack. It is dangerous for a country to become too alienated. The reason US is so powerful is because we have many allies. Nearly every civilzed nation has some sort of allience with US.

Well, my list is based on suggestions that I'm getting, and many of the comments that I added were taken verbatem from people that have suggested certain Emulators. I'm looking to list as many emulators as I can, you know, any emulator that has a feature that has a useful feature I put on the list. If you have any suggestions for emulators I'd be glad to hear them and add them to the list. Even if they don't have as many features as FCEUXD they can still go on the list.

Ok, I am having another problem tho. For this level.

Im trying to change the colors of the ground and the building in the background. According to the PPU viewer The metal boxes I wanted to change have colors 0f black, 37 peach, and 00 grey. And the bbuildings have 0f black, 20 white, and 17 brown.

I've tried changing these in a hex editor but haven't found any matches. Anyone got any ideas how I can find the correct addresses in a hex editor?
