Sounds like a nice hack plan! I WOULD like to see some screenies of these changes soon, baby!

Probably on Sunday.

It'll be more of a "wow" when people play the completed version with all the changes... instead of them getting all the changes a little at a time.
Good point... I'll think about it a bit more.

If you seperate two populations, eventually they'll evolve in different directions and become unable to breed. Thus, macroevolution.
Well, I don't have the time to go through that link as closely as I'd like (breakfast is calling ), but from the quick look I had, I'd definitely say that those examples are of micro-evolution, NOT macro-evolution. Notice that there's no MAJOR difference between the species they're talking about, just minor things that effect survivability in their environments.

I'll look through it more closely later, but that's my first impression of it.

God created everything the way it is now, no species have changed or been added, although some have died out. The universe is static, there is no change, and the world is near its end.

Now what do you believe in? If you believe someone created the big bang, you're not a creationist as the defenition of it says... you believe in evolution.
That's *your* definition of creationism, the REAL definition is much simpler actually (and btw, your definition hinges on Christian and Jewish beliefs about creation, other religions have different beliefs on how the world was created, yet they're almost universally creationistic beliefs). Creationism is the belief that the world/universe and its inhabitants were created by a higher power (or higher powers). Note that creationism itself says nothing about HOW that (or those) higher power(s) created the world, or when. That's different with pretty much every faith I've read about.

And creationism doesn't entail a belief about when the world will end
For Christians, that's in Revelations.

Only FF1, lol. It's the only console game I've felt motivated enough to hack. And my earlier hacks weren't really so good, and so I usually deleted them within a week...

I'll have screenshots up later today, btw. I want to finish the status screen first (won't take long -- almost finished already).

Well, I was going to post screenshots now, but... I don't have any webspace to post them to!
Can anyone help me out with this?
The pictures aren't very big (the largest is just over 3KB).

Well, 404 helped me store the images, so here are the first 3 screenshots.

Those are the only 3 screens where my changes are visible at the moment, but I'll have more later

Hehe, I'm not even finished with the magic system, lol. Next on my list is to complete the changeover to an MP system (not many subroutines left to patch for that), and then to make the spells more like later FFs (Fire, Ice, and Bolt all in the same levels, for example). If I can, I'll even make Life and Life2 functional in battle, but I can't promise yet (I'll see what I can do though).

*ahem* Well, he gave you a lot of nice info because he abandoned his great looking hack... are you going to take any of the ASM hacks from "Mr. FF Hacker's" hack to yours?
Well, I wasn't going to say anything about that until I was done merging things (that's what I've been busy with since Sunday, lol), but... yep
Specifically:
- new music system (have to use mapper #19 for it instead of mapper #1 though)
- animated oceans (he also told me that other animations wouldn't be difficult, so I'll look into that)
- treasure chests that open, and
- day/night system

And the best thing, is the he ( ) gave me a fully disassembled ROM which can be re-assembled -- which means I don't have to use a hex editor anymore for ASM hacking (YAY!!), and because of the linker, I don't have to go out of my way to make sure things remain at the same addresses (they have to remain in the same banks though, but that's not a problem).

No. And I don't think I really will -- this is more of an engine hack than anything to do with the plot or graphics, so I don't think I'll change those kinds of things.

Oh yeah... for when you're low on MP, lol.

Hmmm... well, besides Bahamut I'd have to say either Odin or Titan.

And then I bookmarked it for convenient access

Well, I'd say it'd revolutionize FF hacking... but the music engine hack will definitely affect all rom hacking
Once I'm finished porting my hack into it, it'll definitely make me a lot more productive with my hack -- it'll be a LOT easier than hand-assembling and then inserting my hacks with a 6502 manual and a hex editor...

Possible. I'm not into the online stuff so much... I mainly just play LAN games with friends.

A lot of people online take those games way too seriously, and that just kinda freaked me out, lol

Well, there's here
If my wife's around, I'm not allowed to get bored (she'll find something for me to do, lol).
If not... well, I'll surf the 'net for stuff ( ), play games... rom hacking... if none of those relieve my boredom, I'll go watch tv... which is pretty much guaranteed to put me to sleep for a while, lol.

Okay, something of a complex question...
In the last 2 pages (page = 256 bytes) of the ROM, there seems to be a lot of unused "space" that's either filled with $00's, $01's, or seemingly random "stuff". Does anyone know if that stuff is actually USED at somewhere? Or is it just "filler"? (Note: I'm not talking of the various routines in that area, or the vector table at the end of the ROM).
