If they made more theatres where you could drink, at least you'd get rid of the rowdy youngins. Though, with every body getting drunk I don't know how much better it would be.

Well I'll never be happy until I get Telephone Operator on a US release...

I looked at some of the older Euro editions of DDR, they looked fairly comparable, I thought.
A bit less songs though...

Their party edition for the original playstation looks like the best one to me.

Given the massive reduncancy and patterns I've seen from browsing though endless rows of opcodes, it's impossible that it was hand written. That's impractical anyways. What they probably used was either A. Assembly language with lots of macros and such, or B. A high level language like C, though I've heard that C is in appropriate for the 6502/65816. That information comes from the developers of the processors. There very well could have been a version of C for them though. C is good because it is about as close to assembly language you can get in terms of speed and optimization.

Often times people who work in that industry will write what is called Middle man software. That might be software for editing and inserting graphics into the game, so in some sense yeah they had editors. Probably stuff for doing maps, courses and such. Wouldn't you like to have some of those? Those programs would do all the formatting for the data, the game just needed to know how to read it and handle it.

Edit: Sgt. this is not a dumb question. I really doubt most companies would develop their own programming language just to develop one or more games. They'd probably find something standardized like C, or a language from a third party that is designed for that processor, possibly tweaking it a bit.

It's not to hard to figure out how the game was "made" as you put it. But coming up with a "game generator" or whatever is probably more work than it's worth. You're better off writing a new game.

Per the thread title, I'm looking for a device that will offer me good capacity with a reasonable size. Probably something that would fit in my palm or slightly larger. A friend suggested a 128 MB pendrive but I want more than that. I've been eyeing some 40-60GB ones.

The main reasons for getting one are so I can make my rom hacking more portable around campus and take lots of music files with me. Does anyone know what to look for, what the good brands are, as well as what to avoid? (p.s. I'd probably grab anything over or equal to 2GB)

I also need it to be low hassle, i.e. requiring no drivers.

Damn that sounds pretty sweet. The size of a business card? I don't know if I need one that small. I've seen a drive online that was like 70X130X10 mm or so in dimension. That's not too shabby in my mind since it's extremely thin.

Thanks for the link though, if I run into $450 I'd probably buy it but I'm looking at more of a Christmas gift range, $99-$150 at most.

Well I'm often on campus so I like to have Chatzilla (IRC client) handy. I think they call it the Extension room, all you have to do is google: chatzilla firefox, and that pretty much does it.

I mean, it's common sense that they don't have editors because that implies that they would want to hack the games they made. They HAVE the game they made, all they have to do is tweak it and recomplile it.

No rendered are 3D modeled graphics that are made using a special graphics workstation (or at least back in the day they were) and those can be turned into high quality 2D graphics, as in Donkey Kong Country 1-3 for example.

Prices are fluctuating wildly here. The other day it was like 1.83 and it shot up to 2.15 just yesterday evening. In a lot of places there are usually times of day or days of the week to buy cheaper gas so that might have something to do with it.

Curse who?

The "curse" refers to the Red Sox. They and the hadn't won a World Series in a long time (86 years I guess?), thus it was thought they were cursed. But they just won it so it appeared to be false. People also think there's a Chicago Cubs curse, but that one's probably true.
