I guess, I dunno what I'd call myself. I've been here over two years, but I've never really posted a *lot* or anything, and I wouldn't really consider myself to be well-known around here.

I'm a middle-bie o.o

I understand it, but I wouldn't ever speak it... unless I'm taking the mickey, that is.

I think it's pretty silly really. But then, there are a lot of memes that are silly, so *shrug*

No, but I would've really have liked a Guinness. I just didn't get to have one.

St Patrick's day wasn't a real happy day for me, so I didn't get to celebrate it like I usually would.

I just find it got annoying, like a lot of other memes.. (All your base; badgerbadgerbadger, etc)

That said, I will use it if I'm taking the piss. Like with one photo of my kitten on a keyboard, I called her the l33t hax0r k1tty, but that's it.

Red Hat has divided into two groups. There is Red Hat Enterprise, which is everything from Red Hat 10.0 up, and then there is the Fedora Core Project, which is the free (as in beer) Red Hat distro.

Red Hat Enterprise is for servers, and is something that you pay for.
Fedora Core is for a variety of things with a desktop focus and is free.

I use Fedora Core 1. On occasion I also use Knoppix.

As for the package manager of Red Hat/Fedora, I don't like it either. You're best to install Debian's apt-get. I've done that and now I just use the Synaptic Package Manager (or apt-get itself) to get my packages. Works like a charm.

It's a virus, most likely Netsky I think. That's the most prevalent at the moment I believe, so the one you're most likely recieving.

You don't have any control over the mail server at all, do you? If you do, try setting things so that files with .pif attachments aren't allowed through -- they are deleted on the server. There is pretty much no reason why you'll get a .pif that isn't a virus, so doing that will get rid of a lot of virus-spam.

If you can't do it yourself, request that your host does it. If they won't, er... :-/ I dunno, there are ways you can filter on your machine, but nothing will be as effective as a server side solution.

Daily Cycle.

But for some reason, I hate to see the Daily Cycle theme used on other people's Acmlmboards. I guess because I associate it with here specifically.

Posted on 03-18-04 08:10 AM, in Political / Contraversial / Serious / etc, Discussion? Link
Just wondering, I know we discussed this on the old forum, and I know the repsonse seemed positive towards the idea, so...

What is the possibility of setting up a Political / Religious / Contraversial type forum? Seeing as how there were a few topics on religion, politics, etc, that got a little out of hand, it would provide a place that these topics can be freely discussed with decreased likelihood of flaming.

The response on the old forum to this idea was pretty positive, as there were a few people who wanted to discuss these things but thought that they might get into trouble discussing things freely in General Chat.

The idea is also that the forum has some pretty straightforward and serious ground rules, to avoid spamming and flaming, but allows people the opportunity to speak openly about contraversial topics. It also avoids such topics making the mood of General Chat "sour" and helps people who don't want to discuss these things to better avoid them.

Anyways, now we're on a new forum, and while the paint's still fresh, is it worth considering setting one of these up now?

Well, I haven't gotten to see a whole lot of anime/manga lately, so I'm wondering if anybody could make any recommendations.

At the moment, I've been really enjoying a lot of Shojo anime. Nothing *too* mushy romantic (as per Sailor Moon at times), but things like Chobits, Kare Kano and Fruits Basket. Fruits Basket (furuba) is currently my favorite, having seen the anime and now reading the manga

What are your favorite Shojo anime and why? If you do a good job convincing me why it's good, I might go out and find it

Bleh, I'm feeling like shit lately, and I need a third party opinion on something.

One week and two days ago, my partner and I broke up. And now I am trying to get the remainder of my belongings from him so that I can move forward with my life a little.

Now, Ben (my ex) has said that he will bring my things here in his van, and he said he would do it in Tuesday. He didn't. I asked if he could do it last night too, and he wouldn't give me any indication either way, then late at night said he couldn't.

Now he says he doesn't want me asking him when it will be done, it will just get done when it gets done.

Personally, I find this a little inconsiderate. I have to be here all the time then, as I don't know when he's going to arrive with my things. I have to wait up all hours of the night, because knowing him, he could leave it till three in the morning or even later. And he won't call me to give me any indication of when this is going to happen, not even as far as what DAY it will happen, much less what hour, so I have to wait here CONSTANTLY in case he arrives!

I'm sorry, is it just me, or is he being really inconsiderate? He assumes that I have nothing better to do and that I'll just be here all the time and any hour of the day or night is fine.

Is this inconsiderate, or am I overreacting?

Actually, the GIMP is very good and has capabilities on par with Adobe Photoshop, I just take it you don't like the GIMP?

Microangelo has a trial version that will allow you to do some animation, and it won't put trial version on things.

The Simpsons are good, but not as good as they used to be.

Older episodes are pure gold. The newer ones have their funny moments, but a lot of them seem... forced... to me lately. Or the plotlines seem a little too contrived. I still find them funny, but they just aren't the same as the older episodes.

I think part of the change is the storylines themselves. Some of them are just bizarre nowadays. I'd be happy just to see a very simple, family based storyline sometime.

Last I spoke to him on AIM, he seemed pretty down. Moreso than me, which is odd. I don't know if he'll be back for a while, from what he was saying, it didn't seem like he'd be back immediately at least.

And now you all mention it and I remember our conversation, I am very worried about him.

We sorta had one of these in this forum before, in that we had one linking to tutorials, but I thought it would also be a good idea to link to Graphics Software as well And seeing as how we don't have one in the forum again yet, and how I'm bored out of my mind, I thought I'd start one

This is an attempt to create a list of links to graphics/art tutorials and software and thus provide a useful resource for visitors to this forum. The key to the success of this thread is USER PARTICIPATION. If you find a useful tutorial or piece of software -- post a link to it in this thread!

Spoono - graphics and webdesign tutorials
Phong -- photoshop techniques

Anime/Manga/Comic Art tutorials

So you know, the stuff in question is the following:

My computer
My books
My important files (forms, tax information, payslips, etc)

The thing is, I can't really do anything with my life until I get it, and he knows that as well. I need the computer because it has important files on it, and I need those important files to look for work. I'd like to use my computer to look for a place to live too. The books, I like, but are mostly unimportant, I suppose. The important files I also need to look for work and find a place to live....

He knows I need these things urgently. That's why I think he's being inconsiderate, because he KNOWS how badly I need these things, but he won't even give me any indication of when, he just wants me to sit here all day and wait.

Yeah, I've been told that "Officers Club" is for that kind of thing too, but the thing is, it winds up being used for "personal discussion" stuff more, so there's confusion as to where this kind of contraversial, religious, political stuff goes. A lot of it winds up in General Chat too...

I think that having a seperate forum explicitly for it would remove some of the confusion as well. Either that or changing the description of Officers Club to reflect that it's for serious contraversial stuff too....

Actually, I'm not big on using phones really myself, but I've had one so long, I guess.. I'm used to having one. It also allows friends to keep in touch with me no matter how many times I move house, which is good because at the moment I am really "of no fixed address".
