I was actually interested in the whole ROM Hack thing for the longest time ('00 or so) before I regged on the old board in '02...I went through a few times and lurked for a while before I eventually decided to reg. I think the alterior motive was to post in order to PM Ace with the fact that his SMB time attacks weren't being updated in terms of the Nesticle Movie files because he never checks his emails and I had at least a 3rd in one of them (where it was mostly Frank and Ace trading scores). Another reason why we should have a main page...it attracts people like me. |

Another one would be to get IrfanView with all plug-ins. That'll save pretty much any graphic type to anything, including icons. Great viewer as well.

I did in Adobe Photoshop counter against the Megaman shooting my old shu' up pic...it went to AVI it was so big. Those aren't bad...but yea...definitely reek of the 'boredom' element. |

Well, if there's anti-virus software that's caught that already...I think your job is already done...but if it hasn't then I'd go to something like HouseCall if you can still access the internet.

Well yea...if you want to do it the analog way and worry about other system sounds as well...that would definitely be your best bet, either using Winamp, Goldwave, or some other sound recorder...but you also have to worry about lag sometimes if you're not careful. If this is explicitly video, however, I'd probably try getting something like VideoMach or VirtualDub on your comp and extract only the audio from it, that way you don't have to worry about that factor of it screwing up. Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire images cropped and recolored. |
Hey...not like I could do that at age 9. I was lucky to be able to get Scorched Earth running in DOS at that age...much less know how to use Paint. You actually grab those from an emu or did you get the images off another site?

I've been working on this damn layout now for about four hours and I think I did it too early in the morning because I'm really pissed. |
Okay...here's the layout in question. Works fine for me in IE and the colors are correct, but that is not so on quite a few people's browsers. Don't believe me? Go here. Should look relatively similar to that, no color mess ups. (one thing: I did change the overall height of the post...so it might be a bit bigger in that shot than it really is) By the by, my coding blows. (edited by Ranko on 08-21-04 09:57 AM)

Got a look at this in the August 2004 edition of GameInformer (page 100) and found that it exists on the GCN (US release July 20) and the GBA (if not here then at least in Japan with English). So I took a look at it on the GBA just to see if it was cut up to be a decent Puyo game or not. |
Okay, for those of you that don't know of the Puyo series, recall your old SNES. If you ever heard of Kirby's Avalanche, or on the Genesis Doc Robot's Bean Machine, then you'll know what I speak of, quite an addictive puzzle game. Those two rip on the Puyo series and for some reason it wasn't really brought over here until Sega claimed it in 2001 with Puyo Pop. I believe Colleen made a thread about that game on the old board...if I recall my pre-joined threads correctly. If that doesn't come to mind, the puzzle game is relatively simplistic to figure out. Pairs of blobs fall down on the screen of different colors, connect four of the same color or more and they explode. Find ways to chain for greater effects against the opponent. Your stack gets to the top by the blobs or garbage blobs (blobs liked to be called Puyo) you lose. ...Well...actually in the original, if your stack on the 3rd row from the left was over, you lost. In this one the two middle stacks claim your life if you go over. If you haven't played Puyo, you're probably going to be shot to death the instant you put this cart in, or at least...if you don't know what you're doing...and I was doing rather well in the Puyo 2 (SNES) game and the other ones in general...but this adds an extra element of a Fever Gauge...which will pretty much keep you riveted until you win a round, especially in Training mode against other people...and if you aren't careful, you'll get drowned by the opponent fast...and I definitely was the first hundred times I played this game until I figured out that it's way different in terms of strategy. No longer do you win by just getting the best chain. Offsetting helps out as well. Flashy graphics...but if you want a demo of this game...I've got one (AVI file, long live Camtasia) that I whipped up with text additions to give you an idea of what this game really is. You can find it here (240x160/15fps, full-screens okay; XviD/MPEG4, MP3 audio co/dec required; 6.43 MB - TAKEN DOWN - if you want it, PM me). That'll pretty much give you a heads-up as to what this game is. Personally, I think it's a relatively decent addition to the whole series, and it was well due-in for it...but if you're new to the series, this might be over you're head unless you're a fast learner. I'm about half-tempted to do a run with my 'Ants in My Pants' boxers again...but I'm not sure...either that or I could do the Looney Tunes...or bleh...just plain...and still I'd have to worry about the fact that I'd be without a scanner...so it would have to be covering some part of me...heh...maybe my arms. |

The question is...who wouldn't want one...especially in Elementary school. |
I mean think of the possibilities of it's uses from pegging someone during recess or during lunch hour...course I guess cardboard cartons work too...but they don't break as easy as plastic.
