I like the GBA version best...it's portable, has better graphics, and there are the add-on "E" levels and features...

Plus, you can save at any time, not just at the end of a world (like in the SNES version) or never (NES version).

I used to have a version of CP/M for the Commodore 128...I never really did anything with it though, because I didn't have any programs, and it took forever to boot up. (The standard Commodore OS takes only a few seconds to boot up, because it's resident in ROM rather than on a disk.)

MSN search biases the results to fit Microsoft's motives...searvh for "Linux" on MSN and then on Yahoo or Google. A LOT more anti-Linux sites appear on MSN search.

And won't a lot of software have to be updated for IPv6? For instance, Acmlmboards log the IP address of each post, would changes have to be made to the database and whatnot to allow for IPv6 addresses to be logged?

Summer afternoons/evenings do it for me, and rainy evenings...not thunderstorms though. With thunderstorms, I'm always wondering what moment the power will go out.

That happened to me once...we were staying in a Holiday Inn in Canada, and there was this huge kids' hockey tournament that weekend, or something like that, and they were all staying at that hotel. The kids were making a tremendous amount of noise, running up and down the hallways all night, pushing all the elevator buttons so that the elevators stopped at every single floor...and at 4:00 AM, one of them pulled the fire alarm. I remember waking up, thinking that it was a real fire...but no, it was just a bunch of dumb moronic kids whose parents apparently let them run loose in the hotel all night.

I have to do a stupid poetry assignment this weekend...I have to analyze two poems by British authors that were written during a certain time period...I find it impossible to understand most poems, with all the complicated language they use.

What do you think Acmlm's Board will look like fifteen years from now, in the year 2020?

Will a lot of us still be posting, or will it be a completely new set of members making most of the posts, with the current active users posting maybe once every few weeks, or not at all?

Will the board interface still look similar, or will it be totally different?

Will the board be here at all, or will it have become inactive? And will it still be this incarnation of the board, or will we have restarted a few more times?

How big will the post counts get? Will we have six-digit post counts, and five-digit user ID's?

Feel free to post your opinions on the matter.

Yeah, it's so hard for me to analyze them...I can never seem to get inside the brain of the author and find out what they were thinking when they wrote it. I always have to rely on the teacher explaining what authors mean in these old stories written in archaic forms of English.

And some of the stories are good, but I don't find old poems interesting...

Today is an important day for me at this board for two reasons.

Three years ago today, on March 5, 2002, at 3:55 PM Eastern time, I registered at Acmlm's Board under the name comm128. I never knew then what I had started. No matter how many times I think, "I'm leaving Acmlm's Board and never posting there again," I end up posting here again. It has quite literally become impossible to leave.

In fact, this post is my 5000th post on Acmlm's Board. I have made 3972 posts on the old board, and this is my 1028th on the new. Five thousand times, I have clicked on the "New Thread" or "New Reply" buttons, typed a post, and submitted it, on this message board.

I will do what I did in my 2000th post thread back in 2003, indicating the dates that I reached each multiple of 100 posts, and how long it took for me to make each hundred posts, for both the old board and the new (excluding the lost posts of November 2003 to March 2004).

Note: The title on parentheses at the end of each line, is the title to the thread in which I made the post.

Nah, they'll probably go all the way up to Acmlmboard 1.Z9 and then use ASCII symbols to avoid reaching 2.0.

Yeah, but you didn't decide on using hex version numbers until you would have called the next version 2.0...so maybe after 1.F, you'll say "Screw this, let's make it base 36. The next version is 1.G."

I've never actually had to rename a thread, but I see how it could be useful, especially to fix typos...

I guess only mods/admins can rename threads because if everyone could rename their own threads, at least a few people would change their thread titles to totally random stuff every few days/hours/minutes and confuse everybody...

Sometimes, I'll post a lot if I'm a little bit sick, but enough to stay home from school...but when I'm REALLY sick (which happened to me last month), I don't feel like going online (or doing much of anything, for that matter).
