Thing is it also takes a massive amount of commitment which cant always be sustained. People have their own lives and what this is is a hobby which means we dont get paid for it. Miyamoto and the Ninty boys were able to keep their interest in it for the duration of Zelda3 production cause they were getting paid for it. And also cause Miyamoro probably lives for the zelda franchse lol. The good thing about GM24 is that weve all seen his ability to commit to a hack before. ZeldaC was a great hack which i can still see despite my complete lack of interest in all things NES Zelda. Gamemakr24 was the reason i stumbled onto the hacking community so its good to be able to read his updates again. Still the waits gonna be a while but itll be worth it. 10 years or not. |

Summed up in one word: Bitchin' I love the dungeon design some of those boss rooms look great. The overworld is good but im a little worried about the square / straightline layout of particular bits (for example the cliffs in some scenes). Make them a bit more natural looking. This is helpful criticism so dont take it as im saying your works shit...which it blatantly isnt. Also im sure none of this is the final product so im sure things look very different in the end anyway. Keep it up...im looking forward to bustin out the old LTTP skills! |

If the world can wait 6 extra months for Twilight Princess im sure the hacking community can be just as a patient for this. Personally im just looking forward to playing more zelda3. any would be good so whether its now or next year itll still be worth it. | |||

wise thing leaving them till last, they are after all the easiest part. good to hear you are progressing towards the finish line. Great thing about zelda 3 has always been that caves can be works of art also...just nintendo made them somewhat generic and not very entertaining for Zelda 3. Show me the obscurity and originality! |

Good to hear youre back editing SePH been a while since weve chatted so i only just became aware of it. Despite your sound advice of not redoing areas too much i couldnt resist so i started altering the waterfall palace overworld area again! Just a small glimpse...Im avoiding showing too much of my work off so not to ruin things. |

I seem to be the only one to actually not think this was the result of pot smokers at first glance.... The way ive looked at it is that im greatful the controller isnt like the xbox or ps3 ones which to be honest look the same as the ps2 / gamecube / xbox controller just slightly updated with a new splash of shiny paint and the cable removed. My fear was that we were going to get a gamecube controller with a touchpad thrown in as the "revolution". Instead we get something that nobody before has thought of being connected to video gaming. But is instantly intuitive. My older sister was a massive fan of the old 2d games and gave me a bloody good run for my money when it came to winning high scores. That alll changed when the analogue stick and 3d graphics were blasted upon us. The revolution is going to be very very retro based, a theme which is growing constantly day by day, by being aloud to not only download old games but also play new ones in a retro way and an easily accessible way. I may very well be competing with my family again over games. A test of the power of retro gaming and simple d-pad gaming was to plug in my old SNES and Mario All Stars into my living room TV which oddly enough attracted my entire family to start playing it again. Something they hadnt done in like 10 years. To complain about the split analogue controls though to me seems somewhat pointless at this moment in time...Has anyone ever actually split a game controller in half to see if it plays any differently? Apart from the ability to stretch your arms out a little bit i cant see it affecting game control very much. I pictured myself playing Resident Evil 4 with that controller and wasnt worried. Its still got the big nintendo A button to shoot spanish mutants with and the trigger button to bring up the aiming mode. I think nintendo did a wise thing here...itll keep them seperated from the ps3 and 360 which is a good thing. If theyd gone with the same old pad then they could very well just fade into the background again like theyve done with the gamecube. Hopefully this will give them a new chance which they deserve. I look forward to trying this out. |

"Not yet, I just started altering little things in Zelda3 and I'm searching for new themed gfx to add (such as SePH's beach or volcano he had shown a few time ago...)I already added SePH's Beach GFX into my own hack (which is actually the work of Daisuke). Works really well.... I like your tree design but the perspective is a bit off. May need a slight improvement so it looks like you are viewing it from a birdseye view. |

thievery is a bastard, offensiveness to noobs (god i hate that word) is just down right rude and open source only works if those that use it learn from it. Copying and pasting teaches you absolutely nothing. Ive "stolen" my fair share of html source but ive always looked over it and because of this i have a better understanding of how webpages work. I agree with everything you say BGNG about new members and the lack of sharing and if these things were improved then variety among hacks would improve. Which IMO is the thing the community needs. The most impressive project to date is Super Mario 64 and thats being done with 3-5 people sharing info freely in one thread. Any more people and it could possibly just fall apart which is why i disagree with a uber hack. If newbies are gonna simple show up and use LunarMagic to edit mario then they need to feel welcome to expand and spread into other areas. I remember back a couple of years when me Euclid, Seph and Omega were sharing our knowledge of Zelda3. We were all able to get past issues with the rom and Seph went on to release the most helpful guide - not to mention the only guide - for Hyrule Magic. This sharing needs to continue. |

Ah i kinda see. Your first step in changing the palettes...changing the palettes is pretty cool. You can turn the desert into a snow location or death mountain into a lava pit by simply changing the Pal. A good thing to do is hold of showing a lot of screenshots until youve made a significant difference to zelda. Youll find that you will change your work a lot and the second or third attempts at altering the rom are considerably better than your first. Im not saying your works shit but if i look back at what i did 3 years ago it was pretty pants! As with everything zelda ill keep an eye on your work. |

Yeah definately shouldnt be burried because i need help...Ive got majorly into the whole GFX and palette editing and i want to edit the transparent colour in the overworld but i cant find info on it anywhere and its something that ive never done before. I recall someone once saying its not in the HM palettes but needs to be changed in hex and seeing as the people that will know keep a close eye on this thread i thought itd be the best place to ask without creating a new thread. |
