Only the main page was exchangec, cheap trick
And even the first link already redirects to index2.php. Despite the easy idea it is nice; just think Zophar would be really down forever ... an inexcusable loss ^^

I use X-Chat, it uses very little amount of resources, has a simple but neat GFX and is platform-independent

Concerning post counts: I like the option to show the specific post compared to the total number of posts, such as setrox' 220/224 for example ...
You csn see easily if the post was made in an early phase of the user's time since he got registered here or not ... don't paying attention in the height of the max amount, but seeing when you wrote which post

Posting some screens might be good too. You gave us some infos, but like in hacks or RM2k/3 games for example, we want to see what we'll download then
Well, I'll make an execption, download that 1.2 MB file and test it

Edit: Reviewing it after a short test play, the game crashed when I got that "green" flame thrower like weapon, as in the picture below:

[D'oh, the image is currently down due to Lycos, please retry later] <img src=images/smilies/tongue.gif align=absmiddle>

It is not as amazing as worms at all. It is weird to be in that circle; I like the sound effects when selecting a menu item and the setup. It is not bad, but there can be improved far more

It's evil, but robbing is an easy and, more important, a fast, way to get to money, thus it gets practiced too often
I never was robbed in my life; but I know people who got robbed, although it was more a theft than a robbery; a wallet with 150 DM (today it would be approx. 75 Euro) vanished
But at least the passport and driver's licence inside the wallet got back somehow successfully

Posted on 04-02-04 11:00 PM, in Ignore feature Link
The ignore feature in vBBs is pretty useless. An ignored person gets something like "The message of that person was blocked due having him/her on your ignore list"; it might be better to cut out the ignored person's post for the specific user who set the other one on ignore.
As for me, I'd rather keep up with my "enemies", although I have no one on any board; but also posting my opinion freely

Posted on 04-02-04 11:08 PM, in Redesigning the user interface: Tasks. Link
I'M no staff here, but on another board, singular buttons for closing, moving, probably splitting and trashing threads is more convenient to use two clicks ... to click on the link below to redirect to editthread.php and then to select the option what to to with it.
You also might add a ModCP for the mods here .. so they can do actions with several threads at once
By the way, it should be "Sticky thread" thread, if I'm not wrong. Stick is just the adjective form of it ^^
As for the Task feature itself, it might be a better overview to have everything concentrated in a box than having everything spread out on viewthread.php; it might be good.
On the other hand, where would that window you posted appear ?
It would be too big with its 255 x 244 pixels and even in 1152 x 864 it's pretty big if "attached" to a thread

Whenever I find my motivation to hack again on SMW, I'll use these tools
1.) LM
1.) MyBrainPower.exe, with a cord put on my brain leading to the comp ^^
3.) Block Inserter
4.) Tile Layer Pro
5.) A scientific old school calculator ... it's way more convenient than to open up one on my computer for converting DEC <-> HEX
6.) Lunar IPS
7.) ZSNES

Heh, right-click windows-like context menu ... neat
Just a small configuration thing in the browser could allow that (iirc in Mozilla you can decide if websites allow to block or alter your context menu or not).
If it was even was customizable by adding or removing entries you would like ..
But that could be far too much work, I dunno know how difficult it might be to make a thing like that

Posted on 04-03-04 12:23 AM, in How did ya learn about Emulation? Link
It was in August 2001 for me when I did "it [emulation] the first time :
In a forum I heard about the way to play SNES games on my computer.
I first though ... "WTF ?" and thought it might be impossible to play games on the PC.
So I did a google search and finally got to a German ROM page and downloaded SNES9x and my first ROM ever (though I had and still the US cart too ^^) and started SNES9x ...
I was impressed but was not satisfied fully with SNES9x ... so I got ZSNES and got far more satisfied and kept it

As for webspace, I use Lycos, it offers you 50 MB with unlimited bandwith and external linking of any file

As for random arena ... I didn't check the other arenas/levels out ^^

Some years ago I used to drink two cans of coffee per day, until my stomach made a rebellion. Though I had no never real hangover, since the consumption was spread out on the entire day
Beer makes me more sleepy if I drink mass amounts of it instead of pushing me up

Posted on 04-04-04 01:16 AM, in Filesharing, legal? Link
File sharing itself was legal already since the beginning by law ... at least here in Germany; though it dealt with the platforms and not the usage of them; so it was and still is up to the person what to share with it
Currently the big companies are approaching with a bigger wave of getting pirates
Just think one person have 10.000 illegal MP3s on his computer; now his computer was taken by the FBI and the companies want to charge him with 1.000 USD for each song ... ouch
As for me, I think if someone WANTS to get a certain application or music file, he or she should buy it. So if I can't afford Adobe's Photoshop, I buy Jasc's Paint Shop Pro instead, which costs far less than the expensive Photoshop; it is less good, but PSP8 seems to have a shitload of really neat features (I have a copy of PSP 7, so I dunno know).

Of course some people say, the prices are way too high. Yes, there are.
The thing is just like an evil circle:
CDs and DVDs are very expensive -> People get them using P2P tools and redistribute the (now) illegal versions -> companies lose money -> They develpo nre security machanisms and copy-protection for their software -> The prices raise -> This distracts more people from buying legal stuff -> People download their software from Kazaa and such ...

Usually neat guidelines, but even the best posted stickied thread cannot stop a "n00b" (I hate using that word ) _still_ posting useless threads.
They see for example one weird threads and think: "Yeah ... let's make one useless thread too !!!1111oneoneon"

Also you could add to that list this:
- Don't quote large posts to put a simple "XD" or "Yes" below the post.
I'm quite annoyed to read controversional discussions for example, where a user just repeates another opinion by quoting it and nothing useful else

That would be just a modified /search.php with a filter; or an option to show only specific posts in a %forum%, so it would consume as much bandwith/time as the old search feature, which has been taken down long ago

Utilityman, there are still locations in Germany and other countries which do not have the requirements for having DSL, and even for someone with 768 kbps downstream would take quite a while to download 500 megs of a file

As for the default battle system, I never liked RM2k3 (for me the only really convincing advantage would be the increased max number of pictures at the same time), but even for that there is a (German) patch available which raises the number on RMk2; I don't know how and even if it is possible to select the traditional battle system like in RM2k ... I think not; the only thing you can change is the layout of the status bar displaying all important information in battle
