Haha, that's cool. But I've never seen people doing that before.

It's just because that got old - even on the old forum I only sometimes saw people chatting in /online.php

I like the way it is. On an AcmlmBoard I don't feel like on the "train stations" phpBB and such. Just these classic things like marking forums read by hand - the fully customizable board structure and other things make it just neat.

I didn't play it too long - but I'm impressed on some parts of it. The first boss is not challenging, but CAN be if you are not prepared about that dried and watered room - I read that thread and was prepared; but if you was not - uh, instant kill, since a spike does 70 damage points (and it is nearly impossible to kill the boss without being hit at least once and/or missed shooting down his projectils, thus collecting energy and missiles.

But nice you only have five missiles, at least I had only 5 of them, you actually NEED to recharge - using your normal shot takes too long. At least easier than giving the player sufficient irems, then standing on the left - easy victory

There is a nasty glitch, which also is about the scrolling borders (I mean if the game decides if to scroll the screen when near a wall or not - opening a small entrance in a wall can cause the screen to scroll left suddenly, thus hiding secrets this way):

As you can see, Samus actually is standing in the air. That's not entirely true, but you enter that room the first time from the right side. There is a small hole which is blocked by two blocks which can be destroyed using (power) bombs and the Screw Attack. See this screen for reference.
If you get into there, the screen follows you. Jump and and turn left.
Now get out of the gap, turn left and let fall yourself into that area I make the shot of. You basically fall through the bottom ... and arrive on the top - what reminds me about funny glitches in the original Metroid fo NES.
Basically the screen just doesn't follow Samus - but Samus moves. So, in that screen above I'm on the bottom of that room, but except her everything doesn't follow her.

If you are on the bottom you even can shoot down to activate the door. Then the screen turns black as usually when entering a door, you will arrive in the next room - glitch ends.
If you go left _without_ being in the gap first (again), the screen follows normally when you go down the long shaft.

The minimap is a good indicator - it shows the down part of that room - but I'm standing in the most top part of it

Well, isn't that actually spoiling the secrets by revealing all its positions, or is there at least the 'secret' parts actually really secret ?

It looks inter(t)esting, though, and doesn't remind to the original one at all.
But a solemn map screenshot surely can't tell us anything about level design itself; although I know messing with SMILE is pretty time-consuming (although it improved a lot in the release history).

Gamepad all the time - but if I'm forced to use the keyboard (what usually never happens, at least in console emulation ), I'll go with this:

Direction keys - arrow keys on the keyboard
Start - Enter
Select - Spacebar
Y - Y (European keyboard layout)
X - X
B - A
A - S

Yes, the two rows of Y,X and B,A are flipped, so in most jump and runs I can easily run and jump - if there was not that stupid "# keys at the same time" restriction.

Yeah, once you got the configuration right, you'll never want to change it - I also have the exact same layout in the old thread as here - I only forgot to include the L & R mappings - there, apparently they are still the same like in the thread Karadur directed to.

Trying to play Tetris Attack with a gamepad ... simply cannot do it; I won't even get past a weak x4 with that

I know some people in the city I live by the internet - we meet regularly (next meeting occurs this Friday and Saturday ); and it sounds funny now:

I just am shy when it comes to ... instant messengers
It's just these lines which contain no emotion (an "XD" is just a small excuse) - as long I have the possibility to get to that person (like a vacation for example), I would alyways prefer the direct contact with him/her. On the other hand there are people living in the US - where this is not that possible that easily.
There only remain smilies for emotiocons - and I use these only on AcmlmBoards, because it is the only board I know which has quite good ones.

I'm 24 years old now, I don't talk about myself too much, but although I'm a shy person, I have no problems talking to people in a bus - like if they have a dog and that one ... licks my hand and the owner is grinning, I have to grin back and maybe starting a conversation (well, I usually dislike dogs ... but it's just funny if an animal comes to you, though you usually dislike it ) - just on bigger parties I feel lost; so that's the reason I avoid them and always like smaller "feasts" more - with the friends I usually hang around anyway.

I think the majority of us posting here is somehow shy - the internet allows you to exchange feeling text-wise, there is no rating on social status or the outer appearance - so the people actually even have a chance to be noticed; and you might also get friends, especially if they live in the same city (before they might judge you from the appearance _only_).

Depends on the situation. I have friends who use formal and who use informal language both as well; simply switching to the proper moment when something is needed.

Also you can have fun without vulgar or very informal (non-understanbable words) words, it's not required to tell people speaking "normally" are across the board boring

What I fortunately never heard are abbreviations from internet and others, like "rofl", "xD" and such - THAT might bee to weird

Although I lately saw "Last Exile" and was really impressed of such powerful pictures in motion, I read more manga than watching anime.

I don't have that much experience in manga (owning 100 of these smaller books at home) I'm currently really adored of Ryu Fujisaki's "Houshin Engi", which is quite interesting.
On the other side movies like "Spirited Away" from Hayao Miyazaki are very good and simply have that atmosphere you maybe cannot achieve that strong, if put into a book.

So there is stuff like in German "HDGDL" - "Hab dich ganz doll lieb" used. That doesn't matter and even makes sense - but overusage of them leads more to a cryptic code than an actual text

Nice to see the continuous progress on BoF II

The new textboxes are very neat, aside the blue is slightly too bright; also if you know how to handle the HDMA (?) pointers to make it "less" semi-transparent (if this is possible, I have no clue in ROM hacking), since parts might be hard to read, like here:

Other than that, keep up the good work

In Germany you actually read something like this very often:

"CD's ab 5 Euro"

"Drink's & Snack's"

"Das ist Peter's LSD"

The usage of the English apostrophe is usually wrong here (only if the name ends with an "s", "z" or "x"), even worse when it comes to the plural forms, like in the second example.
I'm not wondering if people complain if many people lack the proper knowledge ... even if companies make these mistakes

I converted my four FAT32 partitions to NTFS.
To get along with 4KB clusters than to use the smaller 512Byte ones for FAT32 - as stated above - I read these instructions to ensure to have optimal cluster sizes.

I had to run a repair install after my C:\ partition got converted (only possible when restarting since it is impossible to convert it, while Windows is running) - but after that it ran file until now.

Although it is no risk, be sure to backup at least the most important data like images, save files from games, maybe ROMs an such, before you begin to convert.

Since any partition except the C:\ one is converted instantly while running Windows, you might only want to backup files from C:\. But as said, it's just recommended - you never know.

Yiffy Kitten is right that it is practically done without problems, but a power loss while converting and anything else what happens when the hard disk/MFT is processing can be dangerous, though.

I just opened the first Valkyrie Profile BIN file, meh, the swap file was filled with more than 800 MB and all my RAM was used up too - after few minutes of opening the file

Except the Sony credit entries also I can'T seem to find text in the hex editor (I used Winhex), a text search with several attempts didn't bring up anything

I guess even for translation it might be too much - what if a translation might be done:

Will the proper PPF patch be 100 or even more megs in size ?

Apart a few glitches there are some nice ideas. But there are no-nos, like a message box in a level with layer 3 water - we know what happens if you bump the box
Also the Yellow Gold level apearrance on the overworld is weird. On the world map it first showed no level tile along the path, then I didn't decide to go there after finishing the level left from Yoshi's House.
I entered Yoshi's House or the right level, I got out and suddenly the Yellow Swithc Palace tile was in its right place

I liked the castle - it was very short and not too hard, but the usage of SMAS SMB2 tiles was just too good. I didn'T got around to play the extra levels, but apart from some glitches it has some nice level ideas.

You could try to open the CD with IsoBuster.

Depending on the "error patching" ability of your CD/DVD drive and the that software, you might be able to have at least a chance to save the most important data.

When it comes to data CDs, it will be no use, since interpolaton like when playing audio-CDs doesn't work (code is missing can and will cause trouble, of course). On the other hand I made pretty good experiences with IsoBuster - since most data CDs still has two layers, you might give it a shot.

It's freewebs, you web host. It certainly doesn't allow remote-linking, that means if you post an image on a site it won't display the image. If you post the code into the address bar manually, the image file will be shown correctly.

Anyway, that image will make it very hard to distinguish text from background. Multicolored background are very bad if you don't want to annoy people or they will block your layout then

Could Winamp's DiskWriter plugin make the deal ?
I know it is capable of converting nearly every audio format Winamp can access, I just tried it with a small two-minute WMV video. And I only had the MP3 left in the freshly created MP3 file.

The downside thing was - even while the DiskWriter was active, it converted in realtime (and the video was even played, though without sound) - unlike it needs less when you convert a normal audio file. I don't know if it is just my computer or normal when videos got converted like that

Commercial audio ripping tools also can do this, there should be trials around them, like here:

Posted on 08-13-05 05:33 PM, in Suggestions for next Acmlm versions Link
1.) It got already discussed, in forums like ROM Hacking and such it makes sense like to refresh a topic containing offsets to certain games, yes. In other forums like the Newbie Forum it is useless, since mostly it will only go for "post counter +1" each time, if people replied three times in a row.

As a workaround you can copy the last post's content into clipboard, delete it, then adding a new reply, with a message like "Update!" and merging the two posts together.

2.) Click here for a FREE iPod and twelve FREE cell phones (That topic ist just here, some threads below this one and it is also mentioned inside it)

3.) Good idea - I accidently PMed Hiryuu once, as I hit enter too fast after entering the message title - he got an emtpy message. I just sent the correct one after that one and it could be considered dumbness or too fast fingers, but it is just a convenience and you even can check if the message was read or not. Does this already apply if you still have messages with "NEW" in your "Sent" folder already ?
This is a feature I like on commercial boards, I think Acmlm's could also improve with that but also keeping its familiar character too.
To add something to your suggestion:

How about separating the "Sent" folder into two separate ones like "Outgoing" and "Sent" ?
If you sent a PM but the receipient didn't read it (_reading_ it, not just being online but not accessed that message), it could be stillbe inside the Outgoing folder, while it will be moved aqutomatically to "Sent" if the message was delivered when the receipient opened it.

4.) It is still to make stupid polls like "Dos xyzs dik sukk?" and entering the same answer multiple times; so I think there will be no need for that.
And about refreshing; it could be done simply by adding a field like "Number of choices" - but usually it was fine. Just .. how did Karadur something like that without using an insane amount of time for adding all answers ?

Start -> Control Panel -> Folder Options -> File Types

Check if the image files still have the correct linking to Photoshop (arguments, like any other file types could have changed). If this is not the problem, how about resetting Photoshop's configuration (toolbars, custom configs and such) ?

If that still doesn't help, there might only be reinstalling that application.
