In Secret of Mana I leveled in the flying fortress thingy. Whenever I went down, like to buy some items (only the sprite could refresh her nearly depleted MP by using Magic Absorb while the other girl couldn't), I always flew to Pandora, becausewith its 5 GP per night it was way cheaper than in Gold City; maybe I even searched places where I could sleep for free.

The thing is: I had about two million GP and 200 GP for a full-night-sleep isn't that much when you earn about 2000 GP for each defeated enemy

Also I like to save a game not with full, but FULL health. So if the main character has something like 240 out of 250 maximum HP, I always want to have equal values before turning off the console.
"Oh no, Angrim has only 89.996 out of 90.000 HP. Let's heal him."

Without insanely high values you won't have a chance even to scratch the last boss. She's sure a tough one
The game is like most of the SaGa series hard, but the final boss is exponentially harder than any other boss - and already in Final Fantasy the most bosses are easy but the final boss usually required to go up few levels before defeating them.

That was one of the reasons i disliked Final Fantasy 8's leveling system.
You virtually got PUNISHED for LEVELING up
Completing the game at a lower level is easier than being in the 90s (like me ) and just torture oneself to the game, due to the shitloads of HP the enemies have.

Note: They appear in the bonus dungeon sometimes, have not that much HP - but I die when facing them after a few rounds while I can take out Queen Iseria, considerably the hardest boss in the game in a few rounds (pulling down her huge amount of HP to about 35-40 per cent when cast Spell/Might Reinforce beforehand with all the character performing their specials)

But ... Hamsters ... ?

Since May 04 I didn't get a new haircut ... so, well
I'm letting it grow, no specific reason like metallers, hard rockers or anything else (actually I like that type of music, but it is no reason), at home I'm having a pony tail because it disturbes sometimes - and outside it blows into the face. Can be annoying when the hair already is longer than the nose's tip. But no way, I'm continuing it growing that way

Several games have been added, also I nominate, obviously, when I have the nickname:

Rudra no Hihou.

It rocks, I have the japanese cart. Create your own spells, experience challenging boss-battles if you have not the right mantras, have simply the best animated graphics ever seen on the SNES. Plus the music has definitively quite impressive tracks, ranging between silence (Quest of Rudra's Mines) and hard-type music (The Flame and the Arrow, Battle of The Last Enemy tracks).

Plus, not mentioned (), Tales of Phantasia also is quite good and a very nice introduction of the gods from tri-Ace.

Rudra no Hihou. Godlike spell creation-system and animations, duh.
Valkyrie Profile. Godlike turn-based combo battle system, duh.
Final Fantasy VI. Godlike music and a simple, but very good implemented Story (Kefka), duh.
Star Ocean 2. Godlike ATB battle system, great music (Stab the Sword of Justice) still cannot beat Indalecio, duh.

I didn't play that much GW, since I'm having a necro/priest at level 5, but until you reach destroyed Ascalon, the quests are piece of cake; I mostly soloed them without major problems, now it gets harder with a "single party". That's the way a MMORPG should go, obviously

I dislike the targeting system. Unlike in RO for example, you first have to select the enemy and press the acording skill-button or numeral on the keyboard then. Okay, that's just a matter of customization, yes
The quests are played in instances, so you only meet people when being in towns. When you enter a quest, you/your party plays their "own" dungeons and such. That's nice to prevent that "OMG LUTER DONT TEK MI GOLD U GEI" by foreign people and such, on the other hand it sucks when people simply go out of quests and the situation changes, when you have only two instead of five people left inside a quest.
Then there's nothing to grit the teeh or to cancel and restart that quest.

Good is the graphics and the music somehow is silent, but usually fits the atmosphere.
The catacombs near the city Aschfurt (in the German version, don't know the name in other languages - maybe all share the same names) are huge - good is also the marker on your mini-map, showing were to go.

Since I didn't get WoW, due to the monthly cost (I don't have experience in MMORPGs - so I wanted to pay for one of these once and could it play whenever I want, without additional fees) - I cannot compare that with WoW.

So, as a recommendation: Guild Wars is not bad at all. If you like to strategally plan on using your skills (there's even an option to revert used skill points back - of course that is limited too. So if you miss-skilled a character - simply put the points somewhere else ) and you like MMORPGs - get Guild Wars.

And about wasabi, I like it if it is really hot, other than else it sucks
And these white ... leaves (?) alyways should be eaten to neutralize the taste when you take the next roll.

Rudra's Concert, an unexpected remix of Surlent's theme from Rudra no Hihou ("Between Two Worlds" - I uploaded the original SPC file here, for comparison. Credits go out to the dumper Datschge - see ID3 tag info).

It begins silently with a piano solo and gains in volume and orchestra, also it got some additional tones - which make, until about 00:30 it might not be that good - but later it gets better and better. After one minute it plays that "refrain" (don't know the proper word, since this is no song for that ) begins. It might no be that powerful like most of the metalized tracks - which I also like - but a very neat remix

Get Lunar IPS ... there you can't make anything wrong, since it only has two options: Apply IPS Patch and Create IPS Patch (unlike SNES Tool what is not primarily a patcher).

First backup your ROM, then apply the patch to the copy of your ROM:
"Apply IPA Patch", then you first need to selext the .ips file, second comes the ROM itself. Make sure you select the Super Mario World ROM.
That was it.

Have fun running your ROM in your emulator.

Don't like that too. Due to maybe heavier edits in large threads (6+ pages) it might be just a waste of clicks - or if people have volume rates for their internet - bandwith.
Now you could say "But you can always the last poster's entry and date!" - but if I'm in a hurry for example, I click on an interesting "NEW!" anyway and don't pay attention if there is another last poster or not

Hm, well a little "new" flag would be great... particularly when you have the last post but you have to add new information to a thread..... cause an edit doesn't guarantee that anybody will even check the thread.

The only temporary workaround might be to copy the post's content into clipboard, delete that post and then reenter a new post - pasted in the copied content, along with your edits here. The board will give the post a new postid number - and the forum will have a "NEW" post.

It wasn't a big deal or anything, but it's just an example of how deleting and reposting can be inconvenient. But I don't know of a better idea.

Subtitles might be an idea - like in an Ikonboard or vBB - especially when having ROM-hacking questions it is better to have a short description in line two - and stickied thread might be like

"FAQ" - subtitle: "Last update: 03/06/2006"

So you likely won't miss updates.

I have a portable player from Creative, the MuVo N200 with 256 MB of memory.
It'a a flash player and contains no hard disk, but on the other side it is very small and fits into my pocket. The file formats are MP3 and WMA, plus it can be used as a normal MP3 data stick. The player simply won't display any folders and files containing non-musical files or not-supported audio files.
About 3-4 albums in a bitrate with 128 kbps can fit on that which is just enough for me. It supports up

Perfectly configured Windows > Firewall

I also can recommend Sygate, although I'm using Kerio - which is simple but contains great features, even in the free version. I'm not using the firewall for preventing the thousands of script kiddies to do dangerous ("!!!oneone, omgballz") port scans - but only to see what programs and services want to access the internet.

Zone Alarm Free sucks also when you need to forward ports - you can't do that in the free version.

That demo is pretty good - it provided me some fun.

The graphics are basically nice, the backgrounds not disturbing the eyes, the placement of power-ups is just right; only it is slightly too easy to fly over most of the levels. On the other hand, capes are not placed that often.

Luigi actually shoots fireballs with his mouth here. It may not be free of glichtes, but the pallettes overall looked nice (last castle, sand levels) and the level design was interesting.

RAR is an archive format which holds and compresses files, like a bookshelf containing books (just think, it could shrink the size of the books without destroying them - an archiver works similar ).

You need a program like the commercial WinRAR or a free open source alternative like 7Zip in order to open these files.

Did you use jonwil's Blocktool or messed otherwiese with the header or other data ?
You could write down the settings and/or export the level (and if you want) and upload it, so other one might want to examine upon it (if it can be reproduced and is not affected by the ROM)..

Maybe you really ran into a glich, but which seem to be minor since you are the first one who mentioned that.

Posted on 07-09-05 03:41 PM, in Any convenient way to rip Playstation "sprites" ? Link
I put sprites into quotation marks since the PS doesn't have layers like SNES and such, so in 2D games like Valkyrie Profile the "sprites" actually are like flattenend polygons, parallel to a parallax scrolling background (if I understood that right).

Since I like to set up animated sprites from games, of course, PS ripping is not far as convenient like SNES (ZSNES -> Turn off background layers until you have one background color left, as long it is no mode 7 BG, F1 -> Dump screenshot, increase frame and so on. Set up transparency in PSP, save it as a GIF, run Animation Shop Pro, put the images together into a nice animation), so this requires more work.

The only way which is the fastest for me, is that one below, I use ePSXe for that:

1.) I go to the place I want to have the character ripped from. If possible, using a non-colored background and having no overlapping other characters or items like a cursor.
2.) Place a save state here
3.) If not already done, exit ePSXe and disabling all filters, putting resolution to 320 x 240) in a window
4.)The framerate has to be set as low as possible, so in Pete's video plugin, I go down to the minimum of 10 fps and disable frame skipping if set previously
5.) Running the game again, loading the recorded save state. Now I'm starting Paint Shop Pro and srarcht a good beginning frame which will be immediately captured by pressing ALT + Print Screen.
6.) Pasting the screen in PSP via CTRL + V. This procedure will be repeated until I have all frames
7.) Now I save all images as PNG files in full size, along with a proper description.
8.) Opening the first PNG, using the cutting tool to reduce its size - as long in other frames no parts of the animation will be missing (like a sword which is stretched forward later), then I use the wizard tool to delete the bigger background parts around the character.
9.) This is not hard but can be a pain in the ass and costs a lot of time! I have to do most of the work by hand, separating each pixel by hand for one image.
10.) Like before, if I am satisfied (not really usually ), I set the background color to transparent and save that as a frame for a GIF.
11.) Setting up the animation in Animation Shop Pro.

Well, I'm not lazy but is there a more convenient way or even an emulator which allows some other features, such as "highlighting" by outlining certain sprites, so these can be put out easier ?

I just show an example of what I mean. This is an image of an avatar I use somewhere else, I had major problems with the staff due to nearly the same colour of the stuff in the left upper part - and the hand

Since here are people who know about emulation and stuff, I'm simply asking this. If there is no other way, I'll keep it like that and work on more using hotkeys in PSP ("B" - Brush, "R" - cutting tool and other ones)
