Whenever I play on emulators, it's usually NES ... sometimes SNES ...

As for the real consoles, almost all I get to play on anymore is the GameCube, and that's only when I'm at home ... the GameCube is nice, but my vote still goes for NES

Hmm ... I use Animagic too, and can use transparent backgrounds just fine All you have to do is to set that pink as the transparent color ...

As for the animation rate, browsers won't allow any delays below 0.055 second (the old DOS tick length ... I blame Internet Explorer for this, Mozilla and Netscape used to allow faster speeds), even though you won't see it in Animagic ... the Star Mario animation here has the same problem, it's supposed to be at least twice as fast

Make sure you either have a program on PC that can read Macintosh floppies/CD's, or a program on Macintosh that can read PC floppies/CD's, else you're screwed

Next, find the emulator for Macintosh that you want to use (one that doesn't require higher than MacOS 8, so GreyBox and iNES are the best options), download it on the PC, copy it on the floppy or CD, put that in the Macintosh, extract from the .bin or .sit (with whatever program in the Macintosh that can do that), enjoy

Do the same with the ROMs, except there's no extracting to do for them, just plain copy the files (.nes, not zipped) ...

That's how I was able to get NESMac into my old Macintosh LC II with no Internet and only MacOS 7 (NESMac was the only one that worked, I tried iNES and got this), I had to use a floppy disk and a Macintosh program that can read PC floppies ... but it worked, as you can see here

(edited)
Hmm, I don't know why I mentioned NES emulators in particular, but oh well, it'd work the same way for SNES and others

Posted on 03-25-04 04:26 AM, in What desktop resolution do you run? Link
Here's all the resolutions I can use (ordered by vertical size), with the highest available refresh rate:

320x200 70Hz (who in their right mind would purposely use that? )
320x240 70Hz
400x300 70Hz
512x384 70Hz (the resolution I had on my old Macintosh)
640x400 70Hz
640x480 120Hz
800x600 100Hz
1280x720 85Hz
1024x768 85Hz
1280x768 85Hz
1152x864 75Hz
1600x900 75Hz
1280x960 60Hz (it won't accept 70 Hz for some reason )
1280x1024 60Hz
1400x1050 60Hz
1920x1080 60Hz (tiny pixels on my 17" ...)

And the bigger ones that my screen can't display:
1600x1200
1920x1200
1856x1392
1920x1440
2048x1536

I use 1280x1024 at work, but mostly because I work on a program that takes up the whole screen in 1024x768, and I need space around it ... not to forget the 17" over there is better than mine and can do 1280x1024 at 75Hz, and even show 1600x1200

I can also use inverted resolutions (like 768x1024), but they just look weird with the 90

<tableborder>? That doesn't even exist ... it's <table border> and you close it with </table>

As for using image for the table border, there's no simple way other than using a table cell for each corner and side, and putting images in each ... or maybe it can be done a little more efficiently with some CSS background tricks

20000? More like 11000 ... and what about me with my 38953 that I'll never get back? I'm not even at 38953 EXP here yet

Yeah, the backup will be viewable eventually ... I just have to lock it properly (no posting, but also no registering, editing, etc.) so everything stays intact, but yeah, you still won't be able to see anything from less than 4 months ago ...

And no, I'm not restoring anything from the backup, even with a full list of almost final post counts and user id's saved somewhere (from 03-11-04 in the morning)

I only delete inactive accounts if they don't even lurk at all, so lurking shouldn't be a problem

And just because no one else did it and Colleen mentioned it, make sure to read the FAQ from start to end and even look closely with a magnifier so you don't miss any word

Ah, now that I see the whole thing ... it seems to be the guy Legion has as his user picture (whoever that is), just blurred a bit (copy-pasted it in Paint Shop Pro and did a Brightness/Contrast effect on it)

Doesn't stretch badly either, but then that was pretty simple

"Fuck" is even worth 18 if you use the French scoring (F=4, U=1, C=3, K=10), but then it's not a French word

I remember long ago when I had a Scrabble game on my old Macintosh, I sometimes had fun entering invalid words and getting insane scores with that, putting crap like ADJOIXCSAFZAEK through 2 or 3 Triple Word bonuses to score over 1000 in one shot (I still have a screenshot of that somewhere, but would have to find it again)

Hmm ... I just noticed it doesn't work in Mozilla, but I really don't know why Here's the code, just in case you can figure out what's wrong with it ...

Right before the table cell containing the links at the top, between a <table> and <td> :

<form action=login.php method=post name=logout>
<input type=hidden name=action value=logout>
</form>

(a form that goes to login.php with a POST variable "action" set to "logout")

Link:

<a href=javascript:logout.submit()>Logout</a>

(clicking on it should be just like cliking on a button in the above form)

Does it just happen to be some non-standard thing only Internet Explorer supports, or did I do something wrong?

Create a Timer object, give it Interval=10000 and Enabled=True ... then in the Timer's code, set Enabled=False and the timer won't run more than once (at 10 seconds)

Not sure if there's a better way to do it, but this one is pretty simple ...

It won't matter too much if he can earn it again fast

The board is growing back pretty well, and it already feels about the same as before for me ... so really not much has changed, other than all the high numbers being gone for a while, and no old threads buried deep down ... maybe one day, I'll put some progress indicators somewhere, showing how much from the old user/thread/post/view counts we got back (1%, etc.)

I liked the SMB2 we knew here (bring good old memories, and working on Strange Mario Bros 2 was fun too), even though it was different from the "real" Mario games ... but at the same time, I also had fun with SMB2j since it was like a "new" SMB1 and it is the real sequel ... looking for the SMB2j ROM eventually got me into SMB1 hacking, too

I'm rather undecided, but I'll vote SMB2 just because I played it more and at least beat it multiple times

Banedon and Kitten Yiffer got it right

After the post loss on 10-30-01, I tried to find threads back from Temporary Internet Files and was planning to manually restore some of them ... but since I didn't want to leave incomplete threads in the active forums, I created Lost Threads, hid it and kept the threads there ...

But not too long after, I got bored of it already and also forgot to restrict posting there, which of course had a rather large impact
