Hmm, how come that "new alphabet" (in your post header) has repeating letters? (like f, m and k)

I don't think I know you from FF7Citadel, but I haven't lurked there for a long time now

Welcome here, just about 5 days after the board restarted

I can at least answer some of it:

C++ is simply a programming language, there's many different compilers for it (some are only command-line, others have a full interface)

Yes, you can debug C++ programs, but it depends on which compiler you use ... but something like Visual C++ will have that ...

Whether you write the code shouldn't make a difference ... but command-line compilers will obviously require you to write the code in plain text editors

And yes, it's Visual C++, but that's only Microsoft's C++ compiler

C++ can definitely be object oriented ... as soon as you get into classes and methods, that's object oriented programming ...

It's faster than Basic (if it generates better compiled code ... can be a whole lot faster but sometimes there won't be that much of a difference, it depends), but it's at least more powerful and you get more control on things ... C++ even allows ASM within the code

.c is a C file (C++ will usually use .cc or .cpp instead), and .h is a header file ... .h is also C/C++, but normally included from a .c or .cpp

I'd give you a ham and cheese sandwich if I was in your house, I don't think I can send one through the Internet

Oh, and if you've done some PHP before ... you'll notice C++ has a pretty similar structure, this usually helps getting started

OS: Windows XP Professional SP1
CPU: Pentium IV 2.4GHz
HD: 36.1GB total, 20.0GB used (I got major cleaning to do, almost half of the used space is uncompressed AVI's)
Resolution: either 800x600 (16bit 85Hz), 1024x768 (32bit 85Hz) or 1152x864 (32bit 75Hz), depending on what I do
Monitor: IBM E74 17"
RAM: 512MB
Video: onboard Intel 82845GL (better than a TNT2, worse than a GeForce2 MX)
Sound: onboard SoundMAX (somewhat basic, but sufficient)
Peripherals: printer (HP Deskjet 5550), scanner (UMAX Astra 2000P), webcam (Creative Webcam Plus (?)), CD-ROM drive, CD-Writer/DVD-ROM drive, floppy drive (disabled )
Internet: cable that goes up to about 450k/sec download and 70k/sec upload

I got it in November 2002 and it's still fairly good ... but I won't get a better one until the end of 2005 (when I'll finish university), so it still needs to last for a while

Posted on 03-20-04 03:49 AM, in How fast do you type? Link
Last time I checked, I was close to 100 WPM ...

*tries the test again*

Huckleberry Finn, 1 minute: 102 WPM - 4 errors = 98 WPM (I typed the first line at about 170 WPM with no mistake )

Strategic Alliances with Competitors: 95 WPM - 3 errors = 92 WPM

Fishing in Finland: 97 WPM - 4 errors = 93 WPM (had a good start with over 100 WPM and no mistakes, but messed it up at the end)

Tigers in the Wild: 87 WPM - 0 errors = 87 WPM (maybe I'm getting burned out already )

CPM test with Fishing in Finland: 485 CPM - 0 errors = 485 CPM

So I'm still around 90-100 WPM, not bad though But that took over 10 years of self learning ...

I'm stuck with a girl character in GunBound because my boy one doesn't work anymore, and I wouldn't mind being a guy again there

It's fun once in a while (I'll always remember that private message I got from Koga at the start of the first sex change period in March 2002 ), but too much of it gets annoying ...

Yep, Ziff had it, but right now he's a Legion clone ... it'll probably be back eventually, though

But I've also seen it used by someone else elsewhere before ...

From around August 18 to March 9 (when I reached 10000 EXP per post), that's around 6 months and half

Nope, Lilina had it right ... someone had the Logout page as the minipic, so everyone who went in index.php automatically logged out and became a guest

But now the minipic trick won't work anymore for making everyone logout

Yeah, it's downloading slow for me too ... just slightly above dialup speed, at 6.5k/sec

... (about 40 minutes later)

I can't really compare it to anything after FF7 since that's the last one I had a chance to play ... but it still looks pretty nice, or at least the 3D graphics

Looks like ||bass took care of it now ... welcome, grey name, have fun not being able to make your minipic or user picture login.php?action=logout anymore, not to mention that URL doesn't cause a logout anymore

I remember that last year, the Google bots kept loading the same few threads over and over and gave each of them about 20000 views within a few days, that was annoying Even an IP ban didn't stop them ...

I saw about 100 guests once, that was someone trying about 100 different proxies at the same time ... I hate those proxies sometimes too

If I try to remember them all, excluding the title wars with Yiffy Kitten and the identity switching ...

Acmlm -> Santa Cmlm -> Acmlm -> Acmilly -> Acmlm -> Darth Milly -> Acmlm -> Acmilly -> Acmlm -> Milly Christmas -> Acmlm -> Kamie Lysha -> Acmlm -> Milly -> Acmlm

Out of all the non-Acmlm ones, "Milly" lasted the longest by far

Oh wait, you mean the real Acmlm, not me, right?
