This is great for Bush, if the comfirmation hearing had continued it would have made him look worse and worse. Now he gets to try again. The public has very short memory, in a few weeks no one will remember he tried to make someone who had never been a judge a supreme court justice. People are already starting to forget he made the former Judges and Stewards Commissioner for the International Arabian Horse Association head of FEMA.

Originally posted by Kefka Steven Colbert is hilarious, not quit Jon Stewart hilarious but still very funny. I guess its a different type of funny, Jon Stewart's all staight out jokes, while Steven Colbert's all parody. Anyway, back when the Rebublicans were impeaching Clinton, and the general consensus among the public was that it was stupid waste of time, there was alot talk that it would hurt the Republicans come election time. Well we all know how that turned out. The majority of America is still conservative, and the far right are known for their voting turnout when they feel their supporting a cause. So as long as he can provide a better known conservative nominee he'll be able push his support back up with the anti-gay, anti-stem cell research crowd who don't seem to care how bad the war, the economy, foreign relations, the budget, disaster management, or whether or not the White House staff is willing to commit treason as a form of political retaliation. Of course if he can't turn things around with the far right by '06 elections, there won't be the same get out the vote itinitive among social conservatives, in which case the Democrats could actually pick up seats, and that would be real bad for the Republicans, because if the Democrats start to get some say in government, there may be an actual investigation into what the White House actually knew before the war, and I have a feeling it won't look good for them. |

Scientology isn't a religion based on Science (actually that would be the exact opposite of a religion). Scientology is a cult founded by science fiction author L. Ron Hubbard. They believe in reincarnation, as well as well aliens, and consider psychiatry and antidepresants barbaric and damaging.

I don't really see what the big deal is with Scientology. If people want to follow it, I say go right ahead. I mean it may be a cult but as far I know, they have yet to commit any mass sucides, so they're still ahead of alot of other cults. Sure its a bit out there, and the leaders might be taking advanage of the members, but really the same can be said for the LDS and Roman Catholic church.

Originally posted by Xkitten Yeah there'll probably be a filibuster, it the only way the Democrats have any say in government anymore. Of course if the Replublicans have their way, they'll get rid of that too. |

A man is walking through the jungle where two tribes live, in one tribe everyone always lies, and in the other they always tell the truth. The man reaches a fork in the path, he knows one of the two directions leads back to the village, but isn't sure which. Next to the path stands a member of one of the two tribes, he also that knows the tribesman knows which direction leads back to the village, but doesn't know if he is a liar or a truth teller. The man then asks the tribesman one question, and immediately knows which path leads back to the village. What was that question? |
