Dumb? Hardly!

There's a byte to do that straight fire thing. Don't remember it; however; Fu should be able to tell you. No need to ASM Hack.

You'd have to rip the sprites yourself, or hand-draw them. Shouldn't be too hard.

You can't do a thing about holding a gun when he gets the flower item, but what you can do is to go into AllGFX.bin (ALWAYS use this if you're going to edit tiles directly), and look near the bottom of the file. Above the Yoshi sprites are the Mario tiles, you can't miss it. Find the Fire Flower shooting animation and edit it. The only difficult part is a hand tile that likes to pop up in front of your edited tiles and block it out. Find these and delete them, or edit them to show the gun.

But your main issue that you ***WILL*** have trouble with is the auto-re flip of the fire flower. It's animation is to flip horozontally, and with a gun, that looks like crap.

I concur. In fact, I was seriously at one point eliminating it altogether as a mockery to those whiners. I mean, 95% of it is redundant. Lives can be seen on the overworld, you can live without time, the bonus tape isn't used in my hack (level endings are SMB3 style) thus eliminating the need for stars, you don't exactly need the item boarder, and score is utterly useless as it isn't saved. Coins is the only thing you need, but even that can go.

1st: Bush Error.

2nd: Funky palette for the background.

3rd: Nice.

4th: I like that little bit on top for some reason...

5th: Good

6th: Funky lantern...

You may need to rename them if it's one of mine (and perhaps others). I put Readme files in there for a reason.

The OW tiles look too...Zelda-ish.

Make the Shovel a permanent item, give it some use, and replace the Magic Cape or Cane of Byana with the Flute. If you can swing it, that is. The two items do the exact same thing (only with a different effect), and it isn't fair to have to lose the Shovel because of this. Maybe give the Shovel some use, such as a cave dungeon with keys in the ground.

Multiple items in a dungeon: It'd take major skill to pull this off without having the player get stuck, but it'd make them more tedious.

Get rid of that retarded "Rescuing Zelda Reminder" message if you're going to have a long intro

So, how do you get it to run in DOS without it messing up? I tried to just a few minutes ago and it told me "FATAL: Memory messed up - Press any key"

Your only other real option is to not have any verticle scrolling. Good luck (you'll need it ).

I'd laugh so hard if someone made a glitchy pipe in that level that killed you and the blue screen of death is the background.

Well, sequence breaking isn't all that uncommon. I personally did the dungeons in LTTP in this order...

Darkness
Blind
Skull Woods (took the shortest route possible too, learned it from a speed run)
Watergate
Misery Mire
Ice
Turtle Rock

And in OoT, I like to do the Shadow Temple before the Spirit, and the Water Temple before the fire.

Alternatively for Sequence breaking, make the player use the item of one dungeon to get to the next. It won't be foolproof, but still...they'd have to go at least a fair ways into the dungeon before they could sequence break.

Thus, it deserves the mockery name "Microshaft." MSN sucks too. Sadly, it has more n00bs, idiots, angsty teens and retards than AIM/AOL. There's a program or two out there than can nuke it. No wonder Hotmail users get all that SPAM, 5% are advertisers, and the rest are Microshaft-haters.

Trust Snes9x 1.40. It works without crashing 85% of the time. Just savestate often, just in case.

There's a byte that affects how it moves (bounces). A certain setting makes it go straight (unless you hit the very edge of a block). I forget exactly where this particular byte is, however. Ask Fu, HH or someone, they might know.

Fugly clouds (both BG and FG), that "!" block looks out of place,
and I dispise anything using the "^" symbol for eyes ('specially
that Koopa, looks like he's jacking off or something ). There's a
misplaced Pirahana Plant or two, the back end of the Bullets are red,
and that "cage field" vines and wide open spaces just doesn't fit the
level's theme established by the beginning. Avoid doing that.

First person? Not that I can remember...the one that jumped to my mind was Starship Hector, but that's not in first person, it's over the top (although there were side scrolling levels)

What you need to do to fix the "!" block is
to make it wider and taller. Notice that small hole
between the bricks and the block? Yeah, ugly.

I've played it through on Normal a couple of times on Snes9x 1.40, and have beaten it both times as well. I've *TRIED* to find that secret leaked version of ZSNES, but with no success.
