I think the Custom Block idea may be the only way for it to work. (If I wanted to make a Pipe go a little higher [using the HDMA idea], it would conflict with the Background).

Also, here's an idea for how the Piranha's would work with the Custom Block idea (I only mentioned how it could work for Mario in the last post):

Idea: The Custom Block (used for the Bottom Pipe Tiles) would make it so only Piranhas would go behind it, but no other Sprite (except for Mario, but only when he's entering the Pipe).

Is that possible?

If you can make this work (or even give it your best effort), I'll be glad to return the favor to you in any way that I can.
Thanks in advance.

It's ok, I guess I'll just worry about it some time later.
Thanks for at least trying.

Edit: Actually, can you send me the hack with the "Go Behind Anything" option taken off? I would like to just mess around with it a bit (BTW: Does it also make the Piranhas go in front of "Layer Priority Disabled" Tiles, or just Mario?).

Open the Level Header Properties (the Mario Face in the Tool Bar), then in the second drop down list, change "No Vertical Scrol unless flying/climbing/etc." to "Vertival Scroll at Will"

No shame at all.
In the "Main & Midway Entrance" window (or the "Secondary Entrace" window, depending on if you're using one), set the "Layer 1,2 (FG,BG) Initial Position" to FG=0C BG=0C if you want the screen to start at the bottom of the Level. The FG=** sets the Screen's vertical position, and the BG=** sets the Background's vertical Position.

The Garbage-like tiles are the Game's Normal Animation Tiles, and for some reason Nintendo never removed them from the Background (they only appear if the vertiacal position is off centered, the horizontal position has no problems). To get rid of those, just mess around with BG=** (0C is what you should use in most cases; you'll need it to be 0C for Levels in which Mario starts near the bottom of the screen)

Hope that helps.

BTW, a "Secondary Entrance" is just something that allows Mario to enter the same Level at a different location (or even a different Level at a location that is different than the Main Entrance for the newly entered Level).

Example: Let's say you enter Level 105 from the OverWorld, and you take a Pipe to Level 145,.. then to get back to Level 105, you'd need to set up a "Secondary Entrance" so Mario Starts at a later area of Level 105, rather than starting back at the very begining (If he started back at the begining, then he'd be using the "Main" Level Entrance to start Level # 105 from the Overworld, but also when exiting Level # 145 and going back to Level # 105).

Hope that helps a bit .

Hmm, I tried thinking of some things that I need, and for now, I was able to think of one thing...
Since the Game is 3D, that means the Questions and the Bricks will also be 3D, and so they'll use 3 16x16 Tiles instead of 1 (It'll have the same Perspective Dimension as the Blue Blocks).
So I would need all 3 Blocks to dissapear/change (change to other Tiles; for Questions, etc.) when the Solid Block is hit.

Can you do this?
Thanks

Would you only want it to have 1 Life? Because you can only have 1 Midway point for each OW Level (any Level that's linked to it acts as if it's also the OW Level,... well at least for Midway Points and Completion of the Level, etc.)

So technically you'd have more than 1 life, but you'd have to restart the Level from the Beginning,... unless you set a Midway point, but even at that, you only get one, and you'll start in the OW Level #, not the Level that you set an exit to.

(It will use the Screen # from the Level # that the Midway Point is touched, but it won't start you in the Level # that you crossed the Midway point in, unless you crossed it in the Level that's connected to the OW).

I created the old thread about having more than 1 Midway point, but I never really got a definate answer about it. (yes, it is possible for sure, but I still don't know how hard it would be)

Kario: Yea, that's another thing I've wanted for quite some time now , so that'll also be good to have.

Smallhacker: I have a concept for Mario gfx, but it'll take some time to make.

Edit: I've made the standing animation so far, PM me if you want to see it (to anyone who notices this thread).

Kyouji: I think that the more people we have working on this, the better. And besides, Bouche's is hardly interested in helping anyone anymore, so it would probably be about a year or two before he would bother to post his method again.

I think Blackhole has what it takes to make an Music Editor, just be patient ,... and don't go saying he's crazy for doing it (no body ever helped Bouche figure out how to successfully write an SPC and even import it into SMW, nor does Blackhole need to rely on Bouche or anyone else for help).

I've sent him a lot of PM's before for some help on Music Editing, but he never replied, but much later, he did reply to this Thread.
http://board.acmlm.org/thread.php?id=3035
So he might help a little, but I don't think anything would ever get done if we mostly relied on his help, but I think he may chip in a little here and there (especially if he sees a lot of progress being done)

What are the 6x6 event tiles? I saw that in the Overworld editor, but I never really figured out what it does.
