The Super Mario World Hacking forum below this one would be the better place to ask. I'm pretty sure they have an FAQ of some sorts so check the stickies first.

Why not make a new thread? F-Zero X hacking has absolutely nothing to do with the point of this sticky.

I believe you are treating YCompress like a GUI application and opening it by double-clicking it. That's not the way to do it. You have to open up a command prompt, go to the YCompress directory, then supply the correct arguments. Or, download Chickenlumps frontend there. |

When you have a space in the filename, you should take the first six letters in the directory name, and stick a ~1 (or maybe even 2 if you have many similarly named directories).

Yeah, you only told us what graphics card you have. Tell us about your CPU, RAM, DirectX version, sound card, etc. Also, did you upgrade your nVidia drivers? I *think* the BF2 demo comes with updated drivers which you may need to install. (Or have drivers newer than the ones provided) Did you also try tweaking the graphics settings in-game? Your post was very low on actual information. |

There was a Boulder Dash hack posted on Zophar's Domain messageboard a while back. I forget who posted it though. Nice hack though. I always thought the Mario graphics could be well suited to Boulder Dash. |

All tile editors can edit Mario. You just need to dump all the graphics (or whatever it is called in Lunar Magic), then search for Mario's graphics.

Totally agree. Working with other people is far better than working on your ownsome. I still miss the old days when I was back in DES. The only reason group hacks fail is because of management. There needs to be someone who can badger the hell out of people to get work done. |

No, you are allowed to ask for help, obviously! It's for people who post stuff like "can someone make a hack like x, with x amount of asm hacks" or "can someone write an editor for y game", that's what this thread is about. |

The vast majority of notes I took during LotBB2's development are useless now because I no longer understand the mishmash of "shorthand" they're written in. Indeed. All of the data I have on games that I have hacked are messy beyond belief, and would be virtually impossible for anyone else to understand. On the topic of selfish hackers, the least selfish hackers are the ones who write the tools for people to use (like FuSoYa there). If they were selfish, they would just write the tools and never distribute them. So yeah, calling Fu selfish is dumb. |

I am writing an entirely separate program, but with a few extra features that SMB Remodeler doesn't have. Currently, I have TSA editing for the 16x16 blocks, and i've virtually got Mario's sprite TSA editing complete (displaying the sprite properly was weird with the mirroring going on in certain frames). |
