It's mainly sci-fi that I watch, heh: Stargate SG-1: About the only sci-fi programme that is actually funny. The two-parter at the end of season 8 was a classic. Stargate Atlantis: Never thought I'd like this series (usually spinoffs suck ass), but it's pretty good. Has a great cliffhanger at the end of the first season (although it's bound to be resolved in a really cheap way) Phoenix Nights: Great british comedy series about a northern club. The Office: Not the apparently shitty american version, but the british original. So cringe-worthy, it's good. Red Dwarf: Legendary sci-fi comedy series. The new Doctor Who series looks like it's gonna be pretty good also. |

You are actually editing the PPU in the hex editor? I don't think it's possible to save the changes made there. Nor will it ever be possible.

The edited time goes by the board's server. The post time goes by the server plus or minus whatever you set your timezone to in Edit Profile.

If you are editing the palette in PPU memory, that cannot be saved.

Why would you buy a SNES flashcart to play SMS games?

Just one bit of advice, F12 takes screenshots in SNES9x.

Unless your administrators are knowledgable in emulation, I don't think they specifically blocked ZSNES or SNES9x. It's possible they blocked all unknown programs from running. In which case, another emulator will do you no good.

Why use 1.92? 1.A2 is out and it's apparently more secure. And well, better. (edited by dan on 04-11-05 08:15 AM) |

Does the latest build have the Address Label logger working? As that part of the Code Data Logger dialog seems to do nothing in the v1.0 release. (I presume it's some kind of logger for indirect pointer things)

FCEU has a speed up feature. It's the ` key. It doesn't seem to be listed in the readme though.

I think that ROM hacking is a hobby that you need to put a lot of effort into. And that's what is scaring new people off. Personally speaking, I try to only post when I can actually help or when I release something. Mainly, because I'm terrible at expressing ideas. (Or maybe because not many people are interested in the games I hack )

It's a command-line application. Bring up a command prompt (Start -> Accessories -> Command Prompt), navigate to the zcompress directory (I installed a simple tweak that allows me to right-click on any folder in Windows Explorer and get a command prompt for that directory), and use the correct parameters to use the program (which I presume is zcompress 0 nameofzeldaROM allgfx.bin).

The only problem I have with changing mappers is that if you do it to add CHR-ROM, or add extra PRG banks, you are left with very few legal ways to distribute the damn thing. (An IPS patch will contain a ton of the original ROM) There are also a few things I noted from converting ROMs from UNROM to MMC3 that threw me off. First, if you plan on using WRAM, you need to initialise it (some register can do it). Certain emulators allow you to use it without initialising it (FCEU comes to mind), but the more accurate ones don't (NEStopia). If you plan on converting everything to CHR-ROM (a very tedious task, trust me, I did it using a custom program I wrote to rip pattern tables out of FCEU savestates, otherwise it would have taken forever), when loading stuff into the sprite table, it seems to be that the CHR bank number must be a multiple of 2. This didn't seem to be covered in Firebug's documents. |

I use savestates all the time, so obviously I voted no. I remember seeing a translators website where the translator was going to make people use an emulator he wrote to play his translation, all because he didn't want his translation to end up in the Good list. That was quite over the top.

I think the PRG numbers in the GoodNES titles of the ROMs are the revisions of the ROMs. So, it's probably best to go with PRG 1.

I downloaded the live CD to give it a whirl. I'm not sure if I really like GNOME, but from what I read, it's not that hard to install KDE (or I could just be really fucking lazy and use KUbuntu). I'll probably install it when I buy a new hard disc (my current hard drives have very little free space available). |
