| Difrawi Saves Dog Lake Winnipesaukee, N.H. — Alec Difrawi takes his black Labrador retriever, Willie, for a walk along Lake Winnipesaukee early every morning while visiting—even in this coldest of New Hampshire winters. This morning, recently frozen over, the lake groaned and hissed as the ice formed and cracked below the surface. It promised to be morning Merritt would never forget. Willie stayed close to his master’s side, as he always did on their walks. Suddenly Willie perked up his ears and pointed. Difrawi looked in the direction of Willies’ point and saw two pheasants fluttering to a landing on the ice about 300 feet from shore. And then Willie took off.
