Hi everyone...

I'm having some serious problems emulating games for the NES. I've tried a ton of emulators, but none work properly. Here's the problem:

Let's say I'm playing Super Mario Bros. You know how if you hold forward and B, then press jump, you can do a running jump making Mario jump higher? Well I can't do that. Problem is, the emulator seems to only let me press two buttons at a time, so if I'm holding down forward and B, pressing A to jump won't do anything... I just keep running.

Does anyone know what the problem is? It's funny because this sorta thing never happens in SNES9x or Gens.

Help would be appretiated, thanks!

Actually, it's supposedly certain button arrangements that work around the damn 'two-button-press' rule. I'm not exactly sure what a fool-proof setup would be.

For instance, In ZSNES in KI using zxcasd I can only perform certain moves depending on the direction I'm facing because of also pressing the direction keys, nm,k, at the same time.

Well that's crazy. I can't think of a good reason why someone would make a keyboard work like that.

I guess I should just buy a cheap-o controller for my PC, though I don't know how much I'll use it once my Xbox gets modded.

They're cheaper that way.

Using the "modificator" keys (Ctrl, Alt, Shift etc.) you can have more buttons pressed.

Aha! That works... thank you everyone who helped answer my question!

Hey... I just discovered your Wiki and it looks great! I think this could easily become the definative ROM Hacking database. I already created a list for SMW hacks, and once I read the "Help" page entirely, I'll add some info on those hacks.

Keep up the good work.
