Hello!

Someguy: Yes, I am the same Macbee from "Super Mario Dream World", hehe. Thanks for the compliments about this project, and I would love some ExGFX lessons!!

Gnkkwinrul and Blackhole89: It may shock you but my project uses the NES graphics from 1985. The reasons?

1) Well, I played the orignal SMB a lot when I was a kid, zillions of years ago, and I am very nostalgic about that time..

2) I believe that using the GFX from 1985 I will make people more interested in the hack. Some will love the Retro-feeling, and others will hate the obsolete-looking of it. But both will have a different experience, determined by the unusual visual of the hack. And I believe that playing something different is good sometimes, right?

Atma X: I already played that Castlevania-Mario game. The SMB1 GFX are beautiful, but in my hack I will do my best to let the game looking like the original Mario from 1985.

Trashykins, thanks for the comment. I'm glad to know that my old and incomplete hack still gives some moments of fun to people.

Iamhiro and Tailsixs, I believe that I solved my problem. There's no way to make a perfect rip of SMB1 sprites - I will have to create new sprites for Mario.

Macbee

PS: Can someone help me to find the program that inserts custom blocks on SMW?

PS2: Is there a way to insert a character that acts exactly like the goombas from SMB1 and SMB3?

Hello! I believe that I will have something to show to you this weekend..Don't expect a demo, just screenshots or a small video. News coming really really soon.

And Kratos:

1) I already visited that thread, but the link is broken. That's why I asked (and still aking) the Block Inserter.

2) I don't want to make some characters looking like Goombas. Trust me, I am very familiar to the sprite hacking concept. I want enemies ACTING like them - with the same movements and the same way to die.

3) The reason for the "PS2" thing was to make a silly joke with the abreviations of Sony's Playstation and Playstation 2. Sense of humor to laugh of absurd or stupid situations is a good thing.

This message board is a place to people exchange experiences. You shouldn't act like a superior human being because.... well, you're not. Share your knowledge without arrogance, get a girlfriend and be happy.

Kratos, that "M" on the time indicator was just a test.. I didn't finished it yet, but it's better now:

And about the looking of the game, I am aware of the possible rejection. But I am hacking mostly to have fun, and I know it's impossible to please everyone. Thanks for your feedback

Dragon Master, these screens will change a lot. The game will look like the original Super Mario. Your question is good, because the big feature of this hack will be the possibility of playing Super Mario 1 with the Spin Jump, Yoshi and the cape....

Hello!
The official URL for Block Tool ( http://hypernova.amarok-shadow.com/MyStuff/acmlm/blktool.zip ) is broken. Can someone post the correct address of it?

Hello again! Yes, Mario will use a cape and ride Yoshi with the 8-bit look! I am planning to release the hack in January.

By the way, another screenshot:

Chill Penguin, the "?" blocks fade the colors just like in the original SMB1. I don't know when the new-old Yoshi will be done. I believe Yoshi appears in the Game Boy version of SMB1 and if it's true, maybe I use those sprites.

The game is just a conversion of SMB1. And, as you said, Mario will have the SMW powerups to get an easier time and maybe find some secrets (hint, hint).

Nothing revolucionary, just fun to play.

If someone could change the physics and gameplay enough to make playing SMW on the NES as close as possible to the SNES experience, I would love to hack the graphics and make a decent visual conversion.

The pirates had good intentions, but the GFX need some extra work.

1- Smallhacker:
THANKS A LOT!!! Mario now can warp thru the stages with no problem!!

2- Chickenlump:
I don't have the skill to do what I did just coding the layout, sorry. But c'mon 200k, even for a 56k connection isn't an absurd.

3- Chaos Force:
Thanks for your compliments!! It's a bizarre hack and a dirty job but someone had to do it =)

By the way, the Smallhacker help inspired me to continue the hack yesterday. Level 1-2 is almost finished. I really believe that in a few weeks or months I can release the complete game.

Thanks for the comments, friends! Soon I will show more images at the "official" thread of my hack.

About the overworld: Jaspile is right. I will clone the overworld of the Gameboy version of SMB1. I will also *TRY* to get those red coins from the gameboy version on my hack. And, as I said before, be prepared to see the 1985 Mario flying with the cape and riding Yoshi

I would love to see it done! Please Someguy, make that hack for us!!!
I don't know if I am right, but I believe there is a Gorilla that throws barrels somewhere in the game. Would be sweet to see that boss with Donkey Kong GFX.

I disagree.... The hack will have a big impact only if characters, backgrounds, cutscenes, etc were changed.

Some stages aren't "Marioish".... Urban places and the Wackyland for example...

Thanks for the repiles and comments!!!
Hidden Mario explanation helped me a lot. Thank you very much!

HyperHacker:
1- A "PLEASE don't post images anymore" would be nice, but OK, here I am writing text.

2- In fact I never changed the palette for the "Nintendo presents" screen. All I know is that image has only 4 colors. To see wich colors you have to change, here is a screenshot of my "Macbee presents" in Tile Layer Pro:

3- About the logo: It will not be "going away" when Mario walks. In my opinion it's better this way and it can't be moved down because Mario jumps all the time in the demo and sometimes it's hard to read the title. May be strange lookin' at the screenshots, but when you play, it's not really ugly...
