Hello good people of the (NEW!) Acmlm Board!

I'm Macbee. 99.9% of you never heard my name before, but there's no problem.
I made a Super Mario World Hack centuries ago... Lunar Magic already was an awesome program, but I'm impressed with it's new features. Great work, Fusoya!

I also want to congratulate the new Mario hackers. I saw new overworlds, GFX and title screens just impossible to be made when I used to "hack". And the custom blocks.... just wonderful... I would love to have used it in my old "Super Mario Dream World" game.

"Super Mario Dream World" is a game I made in 2001 (I believe). My webpage with the game isn't online anymore, but a gentle person from Japan made a "step-by-step" guide to the game (I just found it recently and to be honest I'm flattered). If you want to see some Incredibly-mini-screenshots of the game, go to: http://www3.plala.or.jp/draw4/nikusoft/kaizou/dream.html

Sorry about my "Engrish" errors!
Bye!
Macbee

Kyouji "Kagami" Craw: You live, you learn... I didn't realized it, just tought that everyone with no knowledge on English was an "Engrish" writer... Thanks for the post!

Thanks Someguy! It's very good to receive that kind of message..

You are right, I had no idea about how to deal with the ExGFX. In fact, I still haven't.
I will accept your offer for sure! Thanks again!!

I have two hacking-projects (That's why I didn't send a PM to Someguy): To continue with Super Mario Dream World and maybe produce a Black-and-White hack, about Mario living in New York, showing his house on Brooklyn, etc.

Knuckles and AtmaX: Thanks for your comments.

HyperHacker and Max: I don't know where you can find a copy of SMDW to download (my website is down).... I don't have an IPS file of the hack simply because I'm dumb enough to don't remember wich SMW ROM was used to create SMDW (D'oh)... Some people from the board already sent me e-mails asking for the ROM, so I keep saying: Write to me ( macbee@terra.com.br ) and I send the game!

I made an IPS patch of SMDW version 0.2 but I don't know if it will work for everybody because I have no info about my Super Mario World ROM.

Sorry about my bad English and... here we go!

P.S. If you want I can post some screenshots.

P.S.2: I recommend to play it on ZSNES with the SUPER 2XSAI filter on..

I will take some lessons about some Lunar Magic features and maybe Super Mario Dream World can see the light again in a new version, who knows...

Max, you can use my GFX (not mine at all, I just ripped them from old Mario games), but honestly I don't think it's a good idea.... Now all the hacks will look the same... Wich GFX do you plan to get?

OH-MY-GOD!!!

I love Rush N' Attack!! I will try the editor as soon as possible!!
You made a Nerd happy today!

One question: Is Trip'n Slip compatible with the japanese version (Green Beret)?
It was released for the Famicom Disk System, but I already played pirate Green Beret carts. It's easier than Rush N' Attack and there are underground stages on it. Would be cool to hack Green Beret too.

(Sorry about my REALLY-BAD English)

Hello!
I can't remember for sure, but I believe that, in the old Acmlm Board, someone released an editor for the NES game "Wheel of Fortune". I am looking for it on hacking sites and Google, but I haven't found anything.

Am I crazy? There is no "WOF" editor? Any help is welcome.
Bye!

Hi!! You probably already knew about "Sunman", a never-released Sunsoft game.
The game is about a new superhero called Sunman, but everyone believes it was supposed to be a Superman game. So i tought "Well, I will change Sunman into Superman"... I don't know if it will be a fast task because Sunman have zillions of sprites to be replaced. It will be a Black-and-White game.

Hello again!

Well, looks like the Black-and-White Superman became a controversial subject.
NES palette is very limited. The characters can have only 3 different colors, but for Superman, I needed to use 4 colors (Black, Red, Blue and Yellow/Skin color).

My solution was to make it Black-and-White. With the Grayscale, the color limitations are gone - Nes have in its palette Black, 2 variations of Grey and White. It's a strange way to solve the problem, but at least the character will look like Superman!!

Some friends from the board talked about the Retro-look. Well, I liked it. When I played the hacked ROM in NNNesterJ for the first time I tought: "Wow, it looks like a 40's Superman!"

I can't please everybody, but I will try my best in this GFX-hack.
Thanks for your positive opinions and for the critics.
Sory about my English errors!

Zztman: I wrote my e-mail address at the profile, but I made a mistake. My real e-mail is macbee@terra.com.br

Coby and AkenatensHope: You are welcome to write to me asking for the game. I will send to everyone who wants it.

Keikonium: You can use my GFX (they aren't exactly mine - They are a mix of old Mario sprites with new colors.) And I didn't used HEX. All I used for the levels were the Lunar Magic features..

I didn't used ExGFX. To be honest, if you ask me what is an ExGF, I can't answer because I really don't know...... All I did was to replace the old GFX with new ones via DirectEd (a tile editor like TLP). Just like NES hacks: I "erased" the old GFX and made new sprites.

I want to thank the good people at the board for the feedbacks - comments and critics - about the hack. It's very good to see people having fun with the game.

Posted on 08-18-04 01:39 AM, in Useful hints for SMW hackers. Link
Hello people..
Well, I don't agree at all with those hints. You don't have to please the public or the Nintendo Power critics. Why? Because you aren't selling your game. It may sound stupid, but in fact, a Super Mario World hack is almost an artistic work. And in art, you don't have to follow rules.

I believe Nintendo would love to put some dumb things in the original Mario games. But they can't. They have to sell cartridges.

You are free to make anything: A "professional" level is as beautiful as a hard, confusing one.

Yoshi Island GFX? Great Idea. Silly hand-made-naked-Mario GFX? Also a great idea. What really matters in ROM hackin' is: Keep in mind that you don't have to please people. You just have to see in the screen your idea becoming reality.

Sorry about my bad English

Woala! I saw the screenshots.. I never tried to modify Megaman before, but now I'm tempted =)

Congratulations, Dan! I'll get Rock N' Roll (wonderful name, btw) right now.

Just a question: Is possible to change te title screen with your editor?

Posted on 10-19-04 04:47 PM, in Trying to change "SMW" Mario into "SMB1" Mario Link
Hello good people at Acmlm's Board!

I'm trying to make a conversion of Super Mario Bros (the first one) for SMW via Lunar Magic. I changed some sprites, things were going fine, etc, etc. BUT now I am facing a problem: The modification of Mario sprites.

SMW sprites works in a completely different way than the SMB1 ones. SMW's Mario uses 4 frames for walking but SMB1's uses just 3. There are more difficulties like the fact of SMW's Mario uses the same head GFX for all walking frames.

I am not a hacker - just like to make modifications using the editors created by the real geniuses. Probably I will not be able to change Mario's sprites problem by myself and that's why I am posting this message: Is there an editor or information about how to solve my problem?

Thanks!

Atma, you're probably right. The big problem about the walking GFX is that one of the frames uses the same sprite of Mario standing - and in Super Mario Bros.1 those are completely different Mario poses!
