If you want world peace, quite frankly, you're going to have to eliminate any sort of inequalities or differences between people. And then, quite frankly, life wouldn't be worth living.

I don't think that is true. I think what the world lacks is tolerance.

And by tolerance I don't mean that everyone is totally equal and no one is different and people aren't allowed to be different or point out differences. Edit: "Also, this idea that offending someone is somehow a crime is getting old. I'm tired of not being allowed to say what I want for the sake of not offending someone." That's not tolerance.

Tolerance is about knowing and accepting differences and instead of using those differences against each other, they are used to build each other up. If people would stop treating someone that is different with contempt or distrust the world could be peaceful. Unfortunately there is always someone who thinks that they are getting the short end of the stick and they feel the only way to be heard is to be louder than anyone else.

I must be an asshole and ask the question

why do other countries owe the Katrina survivors any money?

why do we have to help pay to rebuild that city?

why does Bush get flack for not paying for everyone to rebuild their homes?

You Might Be A Left-Wing Extremist Brainwashing Victim If...

You believe that the U. S. Constitution prohibits the open recognition of God by our federal (or any state) government, and the exhibition of religious symbols on public grounds.

Or you believe that Al Gore won the 2000 presidential election.

Or you believe that most television and print news outlets in this country are politically neutral.

Or you believe that outlawing private gun ownership will reduce crime.

Or you believe that the U. S. Constitution is a "living, breathing" document, and that Supreme Court Justices have the right to redefine its text in order to make it compatible with what they interpret to be the current moral standards of society.

Or you believe that Charles Darwin's macro-evolution theory is a proven fact.

Or you believe that the U. S. should be a signatory to the Kyoto Treaty.

Or you believe that Michael Moore is patriotic.

Or you believe that requiring children to recite the Pledge of Allegiance in school violates their "civil rights".

Or you believe that the United States of America is an imperialistic nation.

Or you believe that private clubs like the Boy Scouts of America should be forced to accept as members individuals who's lifestyles they disapprove of.

Or you believe that affirmative action programs are morally defensible.

Or you believe that illegal aliens have the same Constitutional rights as American citizens.

Or you believe that big oil companies make more money from the sale of gasoline than the federal and state governments do.

Or you believe that most American soldiers joined the military because they were either tricked into it, or they couldn't make a living in the civilian world.

Or you believe that taxpayer money should be used to fund "the arts".

Or you believe that the guarantor of your rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness is the federal government.

Or you believe that unborn human beings are not really human beings simply because they require the impermanent sanctuary of their mothers' wombs, and therefore, abortion is not murder.

Or you believe that George W. Bush is more dangerous to the American way of life than Al-Qaeda.

Or you believe that Rush Limbaugh is an extremist, but that Al Franken isn't.

Or you believe that drilling for oil in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) in Alaska will destroy the environment.

Or you believe that raising taxes on the "rich" will lead to economic prosperity for everyone else.

Or you believe that the invasion of Iraq by U. S.-led coalition forces violated "international law".

Or you believe that things like the education system, the healthcare system, and the social security system are best controlled by federal agencies, as opposed to private citizens.

Or you believe that spanking an unruly child equates to abuse.

Or you believe that Hillary Clinton was genuinely shocked when Bill finally admitted to the American people that he'd had an "inappropriate" relationship with Monica Lewinsky.

And if, by chance, you believe all of the above propositions to be true, then you have DEFINITELY been brainwashed by leftists extremists, and my heart goes out to your family and friends as they mourn the loss of your sanity.

wow, I love how you people took this so seriously....

I said I copied it and that it wasn't mine....

I thought it was funny... that's all... I didn't post it to have a huge debate (thus it being put in GC not here)

but whatever.... watching everyone over-react to it makes me think it might be true

maybe I'm a little confused.... but when was any of this Bush's fault?

cause you all talk like this problem is his....

well, let's make something simple.... these people knew this was coming.... they had the chance to get out, and they chose to stay.... what happened isn't Bush's fault.... it was their own fault for staying there and getting stuck in it

and don't act like those people are poor becuase of Bush. He hasn't been around long enough to be the cause of poverty in the area.

well, from what I've heard, Canada has said "If you need our help, just ask"

not much more than that.... otherwise I've heard nothing.... but it is Canada.... the news bias is pretty bad up here

I've been waiting for someone to ask

everything you do is based on faith... everything. You get up out of bed because you believe you can. If you didn't believe you could, you would never try.

I could give you example after example... but hopefully the one will do.

I think the age should be 18

I mean, of course stuff is going to happen regardless of what the "rules" are. At least this way it might discourage older men from seeking young girls. Plus I don't think teenagers, the 12-18 range, are as mature as they think they are.

Sure you feel more and more mature as you progress through those years, but you're not ready at that age to take on the resposibilities that sex brings. Why not enjoy life as a teenager in other ways? At least then you're not the girl that got pregnant (or the guy that got the girl pregnant).

I go back to my old point.... if the child isn't deemed worthy to vote.... why should they be ready to have sex? or drink alcohol.... or drive a car?

sure, mental readiness is the key factor... but you can't control that at all.... rules have to be generalized for the majority not the select few that think they are ready when they know next to nothing about what is actually going on

maybe it's just me.... but I don't see a point in keeping a murderer or rapist alive with my tax dollars.... I don't really care if they suffered enough.... you want to end someone's life? then you don't deserve your own
