Hey there. Nice to have the forum back, it looks like there are more options too.

Has anyone here played the game, Kirby's Dream Course?
It's a really fun game, I especially like trying to figure out how to get Hole in One's

I was just thinking, since in the game each hole has two versions of it.
(Different enemy placement, starting area.)

I was wondering if anyone would be interested in making an editor for the enemy placement, just that. Would it be difficult to make?
Though no one has to, just that it would be neat to make our own holes.

What do you guys think out of curiosity?

I wonder what numbers, in hex, repersent each enemy.
Though I played it alot I still don't know many of the enemy names. ><

Though I think the first one would probably be the kind of head that always spins around.

Good point. Just like Lunar Magic, Enemies are sprites while the level is like layer 1.

EDIT: Well I tried finding some enemy data, but no luck yet. Though I think that the spinning heads may be =01 but I'm not sure.

Posted on 05-17-04 10:18 AM, in What is the purpose of hacking nowadays? Link
I myself work on my DKC Style Mario World (Mostly Level Design) once in a while. And I find it fun to bring my ideas to life. Though I don't use much ExGfx a still find it fun, though my hack is quite easy for most who have tried a demo way back, speaking of which I'll have to release another one soon. ^^

My Priorities for SMW hacking:

1.Level Design and Creativity is defenitly number 1 here.
2.I like uniqueness in a hack. Trying to come up with something new and making you're hack different than anyone elses. Doesn't have to be ASM either, though it's still really cool to see.
3.Vairied themes and levels. I've always liked hacks that have many different kinds of levels and themes.

Well, that's my opinion anyway.

Ah, when you mentioned MC2, I thought you made a typo and meat MC4.

By the way, There is a Track Document of Mute City 1 on MFO in the Vids section. Just click "list all" and it'll show it on that list somewhere.

I compared that document to your values in the Alpha Version of the editor, and it pretty much came out the same, Though your values were 1 Decimal place to the right.

Like what X=180 in the Expansion Kit would = 1800 in your editor. All the values in your editor were like that, except for banking, that was just like the expansion kit.

I re-made a few tracks from a Japanise site with these values, and after I deciphered what everything meant, I was able to make them perfectly. Though I wasn't able to make any with no walls because of the glitch in the editor of that.

If you would like the files with the track Data, take a look at this site:

http://www.geocities.co.jp/Playtown-King/1024/fzx/index.html

It's got loads a track charts there, if you need any help Deciphering them, let me know. ^^

Yeah, I can't find it either. I guess it's too far down the list to appear in the more recent files.

No matter. I just E-Mailed it to you.

I checked the Values, and the Contol Point count, and it seems to be the Values for MC3.

I'm guessing Crank Crank may've been the Jpn description, maybe?

Hmmm.. Probably not, Since I guess each song is a single Compressed Wav file, as HH says. I wonder if that's why the USF files for FZX are so big.

Yeah I made quite a few, though they are really outdated, except for Silence 3 from the Expansion Kit.

By the way, out of curiosity, how's the Expansion Kit track data coming along Heian?

Yup, I just checked the songs I have and Silence 3 uses Regeneration, which is BGM11 if I'm right.

I'd probably use the Silence 1&2 (Dream Chaser I think) music for this track for now. ^^

Bey BGNG, I got your file. Great job on it. And to Heian for the Co-ordinates.
I remade it myself too, but I couldn't do the no gates part.

By the way, I think there may be a mistake. I think that the Left-Side SkyScraper near the end of the track is one CP too early. I compared the position of it when I was in the left side refiller to the one in the Silence 3 Video I have, and in the video it's furthur to the right.

Just though I'd point that out. ^^

I'm looking forward to the next one.

I just did that, and it's at the right place now.

By the way, I think it may be an Idea to also document the track addons, like mines, dirt, Refiller, Dash plate. Etc. Since there may be a few tracks where it'll be much more difficult to tell where it is. Such as Mute City 4 in the Halfpipe.

Good point. ^^

Though if there are any tracks pieces besides Pipes, Halfpipes & Cylinders that don't have texture changes for a long part of the course, like Silence 3. Then it may be difficult to tell where to put certain add-ons. Like for example, I think I'd have trouble finding the exact spot for the Ice in Big Foot, though through trail and error I'd eventually get it right.

I guess it's really just to save time. ^^

I think when heian said Pit 4, I think he meant the Dirt in the loops, must've made a typo.

Though If I recall correctly, I think you actually can put pit areas in the Middle on the Expansion Kit. I think it was an added option for the editor, and was never in FZX. Thankfully none of the DD-Cup tracks use that, so all of them can be ramade exactly.

By the way, the music for all the DD-Cup tracks is this:
(Though I only remember the name for the Silence 3 & Mute City 4 tunes)

Silence 3 - Silence 3 (Regeneration)
Sand Ocean 3 - Mute City 4 (RollerCoaster)
Devil's Forest 4 - Big Foot
Port Town 3 - Port Towns 1&2
Devil's Forest 5 - Devils's Forest 1,2&3
Big Blue 3 - Big Blue 3 (Japan, maybe)

Mute City 4 - Mute City 4 (Roller Coaster)
Space Plant 2 - Sector Alpha/Beta
Port Town 4 - Silence 3 (Regeneration)
Fire Field 2 - Fire Field/Sand Ocean 1&2
White Land 3 - White Land 1&2/Big Hand (Extended)
Big Foot - Big Foot

So 7 out of these 12 tunes use the Expansion Kit Exclusive tunes. 8 if you include the White Land Extended version. Once all are re-made, I'd suggest using these tunes for the Tracks:

Silence 3 - Silence 1&2
Sand Ocean 3 - Sand Ocean 1&2
Devil's Forest 4 - Devils' Forest 1,2&3
Port Town 3 - Port Towns 1&2
Devil's Forest 5 - Devils's Forest 1,2&3
Big Blue 3 - Big Blue 1&2

Mute City 4 - Mute City 1,2&3
Space Plant 2 - Sector Alpha/Beta
Port Town 4 - Port Town 1&2
Fire Field 2 - Fire Field/Sand Ocean 1&2
White Land 3 - White Land 1&2/Big Hand
Big Foot - White Land 1&2/Big Hand

Ah I see, yeah, I wasn't too sure about Big Foot myself, I suggested White Land since it makes it seem like it's a sequel in a way. But the Original tune for it sounds nothing like that, so Devil's Forest would be a good choice in another way.

I heard all of the songs for the DD Cup tracks in a bunch of Max 2000's video clips, which I think are now on MFO in the video section.

Awsome BGNG. That screen looks really great.

And, the file format, so small. It's also organized so well. I really like the way it focuses on one Control Point at a time showing all it's information before going to the next. I really like it. ^^

I'm no expert in the GUI, but I could offer a few ideas.

-On top of the window (Where it says 'Taskbar and Start Menu Properties' on your screenshot) The color could be similar to what it is in your screen shot, but a bit more Blue like the Blue Falcon.

-When going about selecting a track to edit, on the menu they could be highlighted in colors, like Jack is Green, Queen is Blue, King is Purple and Joker is Red.

-And when you highligh a CP, the stats are all listed. It could be an idea to have a little image describing what it does. Like X would have a horizontal lone beside it, Z would be Vertical, Y would vertical with a U & D above and Below it.

-And when your selecting your texture from a menu, there's a tiny picture beside each texture name.

Those are just a few ideas. ^^
