Heh... Dan gave me this info that gives 8 animation frames instead of 7.

0x001FB05 is the hex address (change that 26 to a 28) More info here about that.

Anyway, I fail to see what's so unbelievably great about making Mario invincible. ... now what happens when he falls down a pit or something/

Ah, I forgot about Acmlm adding a bounce to the turtle shell when it hits an object (and I just saw that a few days ago too). 12/31/2004.

As for making Mario invincible, I'm sure it's just a step in a process of finding something else. Most likely, he'll die when falling into a pit because that method of dying registers differently than being hit by an enemy (I think spikes behave differently as well). I need to check into BMF's hack again, there's some things in it that have been ASM hacked that I need to figure out (such as subspace).

Because I cant find it... and I dont know what it's called...

Doki Doki Panic. BMF is/was working on changing SMB2 into a deluxe version of DDP. It's on his website.

Awesome looking. SMB3 feel. Even Raccoon Mario! I'd like to see more people make good use of SMB2 graphics.

I'm downloading it now to try it out.

After playing it, the level design is poor and the Iggy battle was a little too difficult for the time limit given.

On the plus side, the hammer brothers are great as well as the Raccoon suit. Kinda surprised me when I fist stomped a goomba and it was squished.

Think you could change the sound of the hammers thrown a bit though? Sounds kind of weird to hear the yoshi gulp.

I started out using TLP. I thought it was the best thing until I got YY-CHR. It was a lot better for freehanding things than TLP. Heh, it's been almost a year since I've used TLP. The one thing that still makes me like YY-CHR better is it only takes up as much room as it uses. TLP only allowed you to move things within it's window. (kind of like how photoshop works or something like that).

It's possible, just an incredible pain in the butt to do want you want though. It's not as easy as playing an NES game through a SNES emulator (some have been converted to play mapper 0 roms for NES on SNES). We had a discussion on the boards a long time ago, the game would have to be set up a lot different to work with the registers of the SNES than the NES.

(by the way, I hardly know what I'm talking about, this is most of what I remember from about 2 years ago, and what I've heard over the past 6 months).

The game resets at this point of the game:

I'm not sure what causes it, but it will happen after being in the room for about 2 and a half seconds. It's the right side of the castle at the end of the game. I couldn't find any information about it on the internet, so I want to know something about it. I can also post a save state from VBA if needed as well.

I didn't find any codes to put into the emulator to fix it either but it seems to be reseting based on a timer (if you pause, nothing happens, but unpausing causes the "timer" to start again). At the end of the 2 and a half seconds, the game resets.

Argh

0.7.1 (2001) That's old. Guess that's the only problem, I'd better get the new one.

EDIT: Got the newest version, works fine, probably will make a lot of other work too that I thought didn't . Thanks for informing me about this. I rarely remember to update my emulators.

Posted on 02-08-05 10:33 PM, in FDS emulation/hacking regarding FCEUXD Link
It seems like FCEU was compatible with FDS roms, but I can't seem to figure out how to use FCEUXD with FDS roms.

I'm trying to weed out all my emulators and finding a good one to use for everything, but I guess FCEUXD doesn't allow for Eject, Flip A, B side, or Insert the disk. If it doesn't, what's the second best emulator ever to use for FDS emulation (I really wanted to use FCEUXD to figure out some ASM stuff in FDS).

That's it, hope for replies soon, because I want to check out DokiDokiPanic in it.

Ah, I meant along the lines of flipping the disk over, ejecting, and inserting. Took me awhile to figure it out, but I did figure out how to flip, etc. with FCEUXD. Push F8 to eject the disk and F6 to flip or change disks. Push F8 again to insert the disk. I kept messing with the E, I, A, and B buttons, guess that was NNNesterJ that did that.

Posted on 02-11-05 12:13 AM, in Legalize marijuana? Yay or nay!? Link
I find this very interesting. Yes, my first post outside romhacking .

The editor of High Times magazine is coming to our college to debate this very issue Tuesday with a retired NARC officer. Should be interesting.

Here's my thoughts. Enforce the same restrictions as with cigerettes involving buildings (20 feet or so from an entrance to a building). Do not operate machinary while stoned. Can't think of anymore restrictions that would be necessary, that nearly covers anything I can think of except it may not be permissable during work or stoned during work.

I do not believe it will get rid of as much crime as it seems. But it will definitely take away from the marijuana factor in the mix.

I do not smoke marijuana, do not recommend it; tried it, disliked it. A lot of stuff people disagree with happens, alcohol and cigerettes, marijuana used responsibly may not be so bad.

Imagine if the government made it legal. Different brands of marijuana advertised in magazines saying "smoke responsibly" at the bottom of the ad.

It's always fun to see the creative level designs people can come up with. Level only are the first hacks I made/played whenever I first came here (2002). The other add-ons are nice, but it wouldn't keep me from playing a good level hack.

I myself am not going to make a smw hack without new GFX and ASM hacks, wich means pretty much, i'm never making a smw hack again.

Yeah, for SMW and SMB1 (the two games with the most hacks for them), I'd have to agree. It's kind of the same way with me on Zelda Classic, something has to really stand out, whether it's graphics or the idea.

For over-hacked games, more than level design will be needed to make it stand out.

Heh, I'm with knuck on that one, I'll never try hacking SMW again .

Oh, you should. It's a cross between Castlevania and Zelda 2.

A classic I've made a facelift for. I really should go ahead and release it. I can't think of anything else to do with it. Font, pallet, and gfx changes that still resemble the orginal.

I'm starting to understand the level format a little bit better now, maybe if I look at it using FCEUXD's debugger, I could make a bit more sense of it.

Posted on 02-16-05 04:36 AM, in SMB2J ROM Hacking Question (Pirate ROM) Link
Actually, since it's a pirate, the title screen was probably blanked out. The graphics are there, so just add them back in using hex. The pallet should still be set correctly, so the only problem is, is figuring out how to put it back in using hex.

First, find out where the title screen data begins (should be similar to SMB1).

Use a hex editor to put the values in the title screen area of the rom.

I'd go into detail on how, but Vagla's Art of ROM hacking and other docs should point you in the right direction.

EDIT: As for the editor, I'd like to see one for the FDS version. You might want to look at that in a hex editor (FCEUXD's might have the title screen values in RAM view), could save a lot of time.

I like what I see.

About the number thing, if you can use more than one color, you could try the Zelda 2 type font (like name input).

I see the soldiers actually have faces now and the magic meter doesn't have the blank part at the top and bottom anymore. Is is just me, or does the tree look a little bit different than the original? I'm not sure, but if it was only a pallet change (which it may not even be that), I'm liking it.

Heh, now there will be two of these SMB hacks for SMW. One SNES style, the other NES style. I still want to see both of them.

I know it'd be a lot, but could you create an movie file showing off the animations? It's just hard for me to imagine what it'd be like to play this "hackable" hack. *CP invisions the goodsnes name for the hack *

All I see were a few pallet problems, which have already been mentioned. Other than that, can't wait to play it.

Mainly I was going to use the FCEUXD's debugger for it. I haven't found any problems with it sofar, but my guess is, it's not a good idea to use it with logging code since I'm pretty sure it also only for iNES roms.

If FDS hacking was more popular, there might be a possibilty for FCEUXD to include all it's features to work with FDS as well. Of course, no one really does, so it's not even a question.
