OFF: Nope. Last RP, the stats of the characters were not calculated (and it is a bit logical becease that, in truth, the stats displayed in my post are supposed to be the data Dark Weapon supplies the party with. After all, Dark Weapon not only serve as a sword but also as a computer). In this RP, the party will have set HPs and won't be able to unleash techs as often as they want. However, the rules remain the same, really... it's just that now, when you decide that the enemy's attacks connect (becease you couldn't think of a good enough counter or something), I'm the one who decides how much damage it causes exactely.

Also, it was unknow how much HPs the enemies had last RP... this time, their HP meters will be visible!

The battle system is quite similar to that of Wack-a-clone... but with extra elements (such as concentration, resonance, limit, levels...).

Dark Weapon will explain how it all works to Serra. It's quite a lenghty explanation... but it's actually quite simple. The reason why the explanation will be lenghty is that it applies to people who never participated in Sim-battles or RPs before and it gives lots of exemple too.

The being's voice was so evil-sounding... an evil-sounding voice for an evil-looking hidden figure. If the being wanted to hide the fact that he's evil or something... well, try again, hidden figure!

You know... the characters shouldn't be aware they are participating in a RP so just focus on your role already!

OFF: Well... here is the explanation.

Dark Weapon: "Serra... listen very carefully... I'll explain everything you need to know about two things called the "Battle system" and the "Exploration system". I don't know why I know all this becease basically, a battle system isn't needed to beat up people and we can explore freely... but well, people called "Dracoon" and "Trapster" obviously need them... for some reason. Anyway!

-CHRONICLES OF DARKNESS 101-
How to fight bad guys and explore dungeons

=BATTLE SYSTEM
The battle system in the Chronicles of Darkness serie is a turn-by-turn battle system divided in "rounds".

First, the fights begin with an intro. In short, Dark Weapon tells the party what are the enemies and if the info is available, the maximum amount of damage they can resist.

Then, the party attacks. Each user must make his character make ONE action. It may be an attack, using an item... pretty much anything. If the actions do not rely on luck and affect the users' characters, then they decide if their attacks work... else, they must let the RP's creator decides if the action works or not.

Once all user characters have acted once, the enemy party will do a SINGLE counter-action against all actions directed at them from the allies... and then, they will do a single action, just like the party did.

Thus, the first round ends.

Starting from the second round, both parties will counter-act and act once until one of these conditions are met:

-Serra's HP meter read: (0) (----------)
-All party members evacuated successfully (KOed characters must be carried, dead characters can be abandonned or carried as well)
-All surviving enemy characters have ran away
-The entire enemy party is defeated
-Special conditions are met

If Serra's HP meter is completely emptied, she dies and the RP officially ends with the heroes being defeated. If any enemies are defeated when the battle ends, the Level-up meter will go up. There are no experience points... unstead, each defeated enemy will give a specific amount of % varrying on how hard the fight was. Harder fights award more experience... but having one or more character defeated will cut by half the amount of % obtained. If all enemies evacuate or are defeated, items may be found on defeated enemies.

Now that the basics are done... here are some regulations:

-you cannot decide if your attacks/counter-attacks hit/succeed (auto-hit techs allowed however)
-you can only attack and counter-attack once per post
-you cannot control characters that aren't yours
-you cannot evade/block all attacks (no miraculous dodging)
-special conditions (no evacuation, weapon/magic disabled, e.t.c.) must be respected

That's all for the rules. Instant-death and summons are allowed... more on that later.

Now about the actual attacks...

Using the characters' weapons without putting power in them does not require Concentration. As such, slashing baddies with swords, firing with firearms, and other usage of weapons can be done at anytime (no combos however!). Basic fighting moves such as punching or kicking may be done without using Concentration either.

Using Techs, combos, or simply just advanced fighting techniques require Concentration. There is no mana management: as long as you get enough concentration, you can do it at anytime... as long as you have the needed concentration. Most moves require concentration but does not drain it... but some moves may so be careful! Also, cooperation between users is needed since ALL CHARACTERS SHARE THE SAME CONCENTRATION METER.

By default, the concentration meter will slowly fill in increments of 10% per round (but always at least 1 point). Characters may sacrifice their turn to fill the concentration meter by 10% more at the end of the current round.

Serra has two special attack meters: the Limit and Resonance meters.

When Serra is struck or that the condition or her friends may become worse, a mix of fear, worry, and anger will appear in her mind, filling the Limit meter. When the meter is filled, she gains a Limit point which can be used for Desesperation Attacks. Desesperation Attacks require no concentration and can be done at any time as long as the needed Limit points are there. In cases of extreme crisis (allied characters being defeated and/or Serra's HP being dangerously low), the Limit meter will fill up instantly.

The Resonance meter allows Serra to use her strongest attacks... the Unison and Full Synchro attacks. If the party attacks in a graceful way, each character completing each others' actions, the meter will slowly fill. If it becomes full, the party can use a Unison Attack and the meter's name change to Full Synchro and is emptied. If the meter is filled again without using an Unison Attack meanwhile, the party becomes able to use a Full Synchro Attack. The Unison Attack is when the entire party unite and unleash a powerful move while the Full Synchro is when the party acts as a single entity, unleashing an incredibly powerful move. The Full Synchro Attack is the party's ultimate attack... but since the meter fills slowly, these attacks won't be pulled off often and furthermore, in order to unleash a successful attack, all users must decided together what move they want their characters to unleash. In cases of extreme crisis (entire party at low HP, Serra in "Peril" state (1 HP left)), the Resonance meter will fill up instantly.

I think that's pretty much it... if you still have questions, ask them via PM.

=EXPLORATION SYSTEM
The exploration system is actually very simple. Just specify the direction and the party will move toward it. However... remember that often, the party is not alone! Other characters wander around and are visible only when the party is in the same area as them... as such, after specifying a location, the party will move as close to the destination as possible and then stops when new objects/characters/important details are spotted so that they may have the occasion of changing their mind.

It's a bit complicated to explain but it's quite simple actually... and as such, I think exemples would work better than just text...

In this case, the party wants to reach the destination (1)... so, the party will take the shortest road to the location. However, on my next post, the party will have run into no important detail... exept that the destination cannot be reached using the shortest path:

As you can see... the party made it as close as possible. Now, the users must post if they want to try and go trough the path (causing an event) or try and get around it. Many events and characters are hidden until the party reached them... which explains why the Trap (2) wasn't there when the party first entering the dungeon.

The party made it to the end of the hall... and personally, not much had happened... exept that the party could see a spaceship or two pass over their heads once or twice... (they're still on the surface of the planet!)

Ex's smile widened... but strangely, it was not the smile of someone who was happy or was laughing at somebody... It was a sad smile, the smile of someone who had a terrible destiny and had accepted it...

Ex: "I am so sorry... but I am a weapon and for me to grow stronger... I must gain more experience. I must fight new creatures and learn how they fight... I must also learn of the reason why they fight. Fighting was the only thing I was born for... and it is the only thing that gives me purpose. I live so that innocents may not be slaughtered... so that I may be the only who has to fight... and for this, I need to become stronger so I can eliminate those who keep forcing people into wars..."

Ex stopped smiling.

Ex: "I must gain experience so that I may allow people to experience what I shall never experience ever again... peace..."

The enemies didn't stood a chance.

The blast reduced all of them to ashes instantly.

Suddenly, a small sphere of ice was sent flying toward Origin from the north and a small fireball was sent flying toward Origin from the south!

Two mage apprentices had arrived on the battlefield and had executed their first attack!

OFF: SHOCK! NeoBowser and Flick Judgement are back!... but they have changed.

NeoBowser is no longer almighty and immortal. Stripped of the Chaos Essence and the Evil Elements, he is nothing more than an aging mortal. His few remaining powers left come from the Soul Trident which is connected to the very forces of Evil... and since Evil is dying due to Serra's victory over both NeoBowser and the Fallen Angel, NeoBowser's final source of power is fading as well... and the more the power fade, the more time affect him and the closer he is to his ultimate doom... but it doesn't mean NeoBowser will go down easily! While he knows that he will probably not be able to stop himself from dying... he wants to bring down those who caused his condition to go down with him!... but strangely enough, his main target is actually Odin, not Serra!... but why? Later in the story shall this be revealed, later!

As for Flick Judgement... well, it's just not the same Flick since it is Serra's version of the character. In Serra's world, Flick is actually a benevolent doctor. The reason why he follows NeoBowser around shall be revealed later on too.

NOTE: Only Serra and Siryx (and maybe Bel) are supposed to know who NeoBowser truly is!

The shadowy figure smiles.

???: "I guess I should stop this little charade before things gets ugly..."

The figure thrown away it's cloak, revealing what was under it. The actual being looked like some kind of mix between a demon and a turtle with bright red hair and blood-red eyes as well with the right hand and left part of the face being mechanical.

The creature was quite... unimpressive even with the evil eyes and demonic appearnace. It was merely as tall as any other human and furthermore, it seemed unnaturaly old... so old that he should be dead... In fact, his mechanical parts were rusted and his flesh was decaying. He seemed to be an undead... but strangely enough, you could sense that he was not animated by magic... he was still alive... somehow.

???: "You judge me harshly, Psi Warrior! I am simply a poor old creature who was robbed of all that he had by Odin and his stupid friends. They took away everything... not only my belongings but my body as well! Only my vital organs work... everything else is either dead or has already started to decay."

As he finished his sentance, NeoBowser's organic eyeball fell out of it's orbit. NeoBowser's voice had changed. While it was still as evil as always... there was something in the voice that robbed it of it's scariness. Maybe was it becease that he sounded so much like a senile old man?

???: "MY EYE! How... humiliating..."

NeoBowser tried to pick up his own eyeball... but he feeled an intense pain in his back as he bent down to pick it up. Looks like all those centuries are finally beginning to weight down on him!

For a being that used to be the single nightmare of every life-form in the Universe... he sure seems... pathetic. Even the Anti-Exs didn't fell this low...

A being came from behind NeoBowser, picked up the eyeball, cleaned it a bit, and replaced it in his orbit. This one was some kind of angel who was quite tall and strong-looking.

???: "Mister NeoBowser! You know you're too old for this!"

NeoBowser: "Watch your mouth, Flick! My body may be falling apart... but my soul is still intact and as long as it will be, everything is possible or almost!... even if I know that it is probably impossible that I will recover my health."

The angel turned to Fenrir.

Flick: "Mister Fenrir... I am Flick Judgement, NeoBowser's doctor. This poor man has lost everything. His adoptive son betrayed him, his friends are dead, and his belongings have been stolen. He doesn't even have his health left... and as such, he senses that his end is near. Altought I am strictly against it, mister NeoBowser wish to help you for some reason... tought I think he should stay in bed. He's really in a bad shape."

NeoBowser approached Fenrir. He approached at a painfully slow pace... and even then, it was obviously his maximum speed.

Once he made it to a correct distance...

NeoBowser: "Fenrir... I want to make those who took everything from me pay before I die... and I cannot do this alone. Please... allow me to help you... for Odin is the one on which I want to gain revenge."

Ex was ready for Kire's attack.

Ex: "I can see you!"

COUNTER!

Time slowed down to a crawl as Kire's attack was about to connect. Ex blocked the attack with Dark Weapon and then, time returned to normal as she struck back Kire with twice the power of the attack he had used!

Also, since Kire's weapons had struck Dark Weapon, they're now broken unless they're living weapons... but if they did broke, they're not permanently broke; technology and/or magic can repair them.

The enemies turned around and... run?!? They're running away!

Warrior: "COWARDS!... err... wait a minute... that's not right. Why would they run away like this? I think that this could be a trap!"

Warrior paused. He was feeling that the magic Rahl had used on him was weakening...

Warrior: "Our magical enhancements are weakening, sir Rahl..."

Warrior took a defensive state. Since the magical powers were fading and since the enemy was planning something (well... so he tought), he was better be ready!

The party advanced toward their destination... and when the reach the branching path, guards can be seen at the end of both corridors.

Since the party is far from them, it is impossible to guess what they are doing... but for now, they do not seem to be moving. They're basically just standing there, looking blankly into space.

Origin's defensive tech worked perfectly. The two apprentices were barely able to avoid the reflected attacks...

Apprentice #1: "This is bad..."

Apprentice #2: "Maybe but... look! The reinforcements are there!"

Another apprentice arrived.

Apprentice #1: "Just one more mage? You call that reiforcements? We should wait until more guys arrive before we actually attack!"

The apprentices began to slowly back away from Origin... they knew in their current state, fighting Origin wouldn't do much.

NeoBowser *telepathy (only Schwa can hear)*: "An embodyment of Evil? So you can see toughts and souls... can you? I am not an embodyment of Evil... I am Evil itself, the very and most pure incarnation of Evil. Right now, just like the forces of Evil, I am weak and dying... but once all of this will be over... well... just you wait... wait and see..."

NeoBowser smiled...

NeoBowser *telepathy (only Schwa can hear)*: "This world is a flawed one... and the purpose of the Ragnarok is to destroy it so it can be reborn as a perfect one... but what isn't said is what kind of perfection this will be... for perfection is relative... I guess you now figured out everything, don't you?"

NeoBowser laughed using telepathy. While his body's voice had grown to be quite the opposite of scary... his soul's voice (read: voice he use when using telepathy) was just as terrifying as ever... After all, while the Evil Elements were no longer there in his body... the fires of Hatred, Destruction, Terror, and Despair continued to burn brightly in his soul.

OFF: Decided to change how the number of enemies was displayed.

Unstead of:

The shockwave destroyed the two first apprentices and a gigantic chunk of rock fell down, crushing the third.

However... as soon as those enemies have been dispatched, an arrow came from the north, aimed at Origin's head!

A new wave of enemies had arrived. This time, it was an aging old man that was obviously a white wizard, a rookie archer, and an old knight that seemed a bit... insane?

Knight: "GAH! There's the enemy!"

Archer: "Actually... this is just a rock. The enemy is over here."

Knight: "GAH! I knew that!"

Mage: "Useless..."

Since this was Pluto's base spaceport, it would be easy to sneak up on the guards since there were lots of stuff to hide behind.

As such, it was easy for Serra to reach the guards unnoticed. They were simply three humans in high-tech armor discussing...

Guard #1: "Hey Joe! Did you heard about the boss's new army?"

Guard #2: "Yeah... they said that he was successful in creating "Ex" beings!"

Guard #1: "Really? We now have "Ex" beings on our side? I heard that those things were invincible! They're even stronger than a deity!"

Guard #3: "Maybe... but I heard that no one was ever able to decipher the encryption on the Project Ex files. I was participating to the Project both in it's original creation by the Admiral and in it's second appearance as the boss's new plan for world domination!"

Guard #1: "Yeah! I heard about that! I believe they used something called the "4D Cubic Password Lock" to keep anyone from accessing the files and then, the files were written into an unique language unique using unique letters and extremely complicated rules. The UEN has tried for almost five centuries to decypher it and never could."

Guard #2: "Yeah... and without the "DNA Key Code", all "Ex" beings overcharge and self-destruct after a short time since powers that go beyond the Laws of Physics cannot stay stable for long without the code."

Guard #1: "So... do you know how they bypassed the code?"

Guard #3: "I heard that they had to remove some features from the "Ex" beings in order to make their survival possible. As such... I've heard that they can be forced into their true forms using a special type of radiation and that then, the very air will sap their Life Force... however, to truly terminate them, they must be exposed to intense light or thrown into the emptiness of space."

Guard #1: "Sounds hard to do... especially since the Dark Weapon imitations seems of high quality if the rumors are true."

Guard #3: "The imitations? I was given the privilege of testing one a few months ago!"

Guard #1: "Wow! It must truly have been incredible..."

Guard #3: "Not that much. The data on Dark Weapon is the most well-protected file in all of Project Ex. In truth... no data could be retrieved. The Dark Weapon copies were created using data gained from Ex Lightheart's Dark Weapon which was stolen from her months ago by the strongest creature of this Universe."

Guard #2: "So... they are fake."

Guard #3: "Yes... but their powers are identical at two exeptions. First, we were unable to make them invulnerable. The copies cannot be damaged by anything... but sword-breaking magic and technology, which still works. Also, unlike the original, they drain the user's mental strenght each time they are used and as such, can only be used for a short time. Using the copies for an extended period time could make the user insane."

Guard #1: "Well that's pretty bad... but what about that famous secret that could ruin us if this Universe's inhabitants learnt it?"

Guard #3: "Well... you see, a fatal flaw was found in the "Ex" beings' DNA code. This flaw was placed there in purpose and can only be corrected trought a serie of hard operations that are detailed in the Project Ex files... and they were not decrypted. As such, this flaw, codenamed "Dance of Insanity", could not be corrected. However... as long as the mortals do not find what is it and how to exploit it, we're fine."

Guard #2: "I wonder who could have access to such informations..."

Guard #3: "It is said that only Siryx, the leader of the Anti-Exs, knew what it was. He transmitted his knowledge to his ex-boss when he was evil as well as to his fellow Anti-Exs."

Guard #1: "So that explains why the casualties on the assault on this Universe's planet Earth were so high! The Anti-Exs exploited the "Dance of Insanity"..."

Guard #3: "Indeed."

Guard #2: "I wonder if it is OK for you to share all of that info with us... after all, it's critical info!"

Guard #3: "Totally correct, believe me! There's no way the stupid mortals will think of attacking this small planet!... and even if they did, agent North and Lucyder will find and terminate them as soon as they're detected!"

Guard #1: "Agent North and Lucyder... these are truly creepy beings!"

Guard #2: "Yeah! I heard that the Omega Robots were nicknamed the "Robotic Elite Four" becease of their extreme mastery of combat! They can face any opponent and overcome it! I heard that they could even be strong enough to face Dark Kings!"

Guard #3: "Maybe... but each Omega Robot is specialized into a single combat style and as such, can be defeated using a specific strategy. It is why we created clones of the Prime Evils to protect them."

Guard #1: "But... that means that the last one is left unprotected!"

Guard #3: "Bah! Agent Nova is the strongest mechanical creature ever created! He could even be stronger than the Deus Ex Machina!"

Guard #2: "What? A robot stronger than the Deus Ex Machina? I'll believe it when I see it! Deux Ex Machina is even stronger than those creepy Metal Gears the boss created to protect the headquarters on Pulstar!"

Guard #3: "Agent Nova is perfect. He has all of the abilities and skills of agent North, Brutus, and Epsilon in even better. Deux Ex Machina may be large and powerful... but he's vulnerable to his own power. Agent Nova has no weakness."

Guard #1: "As for the Prime Evils... are you sure they won't rebel? They may be just clones... but seeing clones of beings that used to be NeoBowser's top-ranked generals is still somewhat... well..."

Guard #3: "I'm sure they won't rebel. Their bodies are the same... but they're not bound to the Evil Elements and their souls are totally different. In fact... "Prime Evils" is the nickname we give them... but in truth, the name for those agents is truly "Dark Angels"."

Guard #1: "WHAT?!? You mean that the Dark Angel agents are actually the Prime Evils reborn as our allies?!?"

Guard #3: "Indeed!"

Guard #2: "I feel rather uneasy with all that... Why do we have to use the "Ex" beings and the Prime Evils? These mortals stand no chance!"

Guard #3: "Maybe... but Chaos lives in this Universe and Chaos is almighty and as such, only an almighty power can rival him... and we need the "Ex" beings and the Prime Evils to unseal THAT spell..."

Guard #1: "You do not mean... THAT spell?"

Guard #3: "Yes! THAT spell... Eternum!"

The two guards were horrified when the third one said the name of the Ultimate Attack.

Guard #1: "Are you INSANE?!? I tought I was gonna die!"

Guard #3: "I don't understand what is so scary about the spell. Yes... it's the Ultimate Attack itself and the only thing that can kill Chaos... but still, there's nothing to fear since as soon as all of the Evil Elements will be ours, we'll be able to undo the seal Chaos did on the spell, deep within the Void."

Guard #2: "Well... anyway... guarding this place is boring. I could use some action..."

Guard #1: "Well... this job is still better than guarding that stupid Good Element! I don't know how North and Lucyder can stand it! Standing there, all day, staring at the Element..."

Dark Weapon: "Did you heard all that, Serra? It looks the "Ex" beings the Guardians built have a weakness after all! As soon as we're done... it would be good to ask Siryx what he knows about the "Dance of Insanity"..."

Ex: "Serra will be here? Hmm... I should have espected this but it still surprises me. It will be weird, meeting myself!... Anyway!"

Ex paused.

Ex: "Well... tell us! What is your plan? How are we going to deal with Fenrir and his allies?"

Suddenly, more reinforcements came! Two more archers and two more mages came out of seemingly nowhere!

Mage #1: "Who we are?"

Mage #2: "We are..."

Mage #3: "... the..."

Knight: "... CRAZY BUNCH!"

Archer #1: "We're the army of the evil Lord Bad Guy and soon, we shall become famous by slaying YOU, Origin!"

Archer #2: "Indeed! Lord Bad Guy has heard about you and..."

Archer #3: "... we could become famous if we killed you!"

Knight: "GAH! CHARGE!!!"

Mage #1: "Err... he's too high and you're the only melee fighter here for now..."

Knight: "GAH! FIRE!!!"

The archers aimed carefully and shot arrows at Origin while the mages shot thunderbolts! The attacks didn't seemed so strong... but since there were 6 enemies attacking, it would be a bit hard to dodge... if Origin stood still.

OFF: Don't worry... it WILL get harder!

Now for Level 2!

This time, the enemies will actually have good equipment and battle training/experience. It shouldn't be much harder... but these new enemies will actually fight back unstead of letting Origin crush them.

The aura blast reduced all enemies to nothingness but then suddenly... an arrow was sent flying toward Origin's chest!

Unlike the other past arrows, this one was actually quite fast and the aim wasn't off and as such, it would pass trought the winds and actually reach Origin unless he dodged.

Two more enemies had appeared... and they were unlike any of the past enemies.

These ones wore actual armor and wielded weapons that were fit for battle. They also seemed a lot more determined than the rookies Origin had fought.

Warrior: "Here we are!"

Archer: "Go on! I'll cover you!"

The warrior began to try and run around Origin, looking for an opening while the archer aimed another arrow at Origin's chest.
