I just did that. It seems to have fixed it, but then it showed other errors... For /lib/protector.php, which I fixed the same way, then it bitched about /lib/threadpost.php, etc... Just everywhere the $root variable is called, which is somewhat logical.

Then it ended up bitching about this line in colors.php: require "$root/schemes/$filename";
... I couldn't change it the same way as the other lines, obviously, so I tried:
require "../schemes/$filename";, but that didn't work.

Not sure how to redirect to the superior folder in PHP... Any idea ?

If that doesn't work, maybe input the full path to the schemes folder?

I didn't try require "schemes/$filename";, but I can tell it wouldn't work... Because it'll look into [board address]/lib/schemes/, while the schemes folder is at the root.
Putting the full address should work however, but I was looking for a cleaner way to do it.

Just so you know, I didn't mean to be rude to him, I'm glad he was trying to help, but anyway...
I just tried it to make sure, and it didn't work... But I found out why.

I looked into the schemes folder and noticed there just isn't a default.php file in it...

The Admin page doesn't work... It gives me this:

Warning: main(lib/dbinfo.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /var/www/free.fr/c/8/stifu/Board/lib/config.php on line 11

Fatal error: main(): Failed opening required 'lib/dbinfo.php' (include_path='/var/www/free.fr/c/8/stifu/include:.') in /var/www/free.fr/c/8/stifu/Board/lib/config.php on line 11

I get the exact same error when I click on someone's IP or try to edit some user...
I think I'm getting this problem because of all the changes I did, not using the $root variable anymore because it wouldn't work... So it looks for stuff in the wrong place in some cases.

As for the Search function, it works unless I specify in which forum I want to look, with the "Only in" thing at the bottom... If I select that, it'll give me this:

Warning: mysql_result(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in /var/www/free.fr/c/8/stifu/Board/thread.php on line 212

Warning: mysql_fetch_array(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in /var/www/free.fr/c/8/stifu/Board/thread.php on line 224

Can anyone help ? Thanks !

Edit: I fixed something in online.php and profile.php, in case it can help other people... In 2 places, there's written a href=/admin/ipsearch.php which is wrong, it must be a href=admin/ipsearch.php, without the slash before "admin", else it looks in the superior folder, above the whole board folder...

To make it short, how to take it off ? I couldn't find where it was.

I'm using v1.A2 by the way... Considering moving to v1.A3, but haven't done so yet.

Okay. In lib/threadpost.php, look for this line:

$p=preg_replace("'x:'si",'x:',$p);

Simply comment it out or just delete it.

Heh ? Why is that, aren't they going to use anything from v1.x in v2.0 ? I can't see the work put into current versions as a waste no matter how I look at it, even if they recode most of it...
As for the trash problem, I simply changed my Trash forum ID to 20.

I guess chances are I'll be ignored or told to just do that myself if I really want it, but I thought it wouln't hurt posting this just in case... Here's my wish list:

-Ability for normal users to reply to a topic where they already have the last reply as long as their new reply is different (prevents double posts and lets you bump topics)

-Making it so the Online users page shows page titles instead or raw links. Exception for private forums: If you don't have the proper permissions to access or see the private forums - either "censor" the page title if the forum is restricted but visible, or just don't make the user appear at all in the list if the forum is invisible for normal users...

-Possibility to edit a Private Message as long as the recipient hasn't opened it yet

-Making it impossible to post a poll if there's not at least ONE choice... And/or make poll creation more userfriendly, because I have to admit it's a bit weird how the page needs to be refreshed to add choices...

That's it.

1) Well, people who want to spam will do so (or try to, at least) whether they can reply more than once in a row or not... They have many ways to do it.
As for the delete thing, yeah, that works... However, I used to have the delete option taken off on my board because some guy used to delete everything he said... Which reminds me of another suggestion:

5) Make it impossible for a regular user to delete one of his messages unless it is the last message of a topic... Or something like that. People who want to get rid of old messages of theirs for some weird reason can just edit them, so the flow of a thread won't be messed up. (I mean, you won't see like someone talking alone because someone else deleted all his messages in it)

2) Okay, thanks... I started reading this, but I don't have much time right now so I'll read all of it later.

3) Yeah, an Outgoing folder would work... I was actually thinking of making it so you can edit the message as long as the "New" sign is still showing on the recipient side, but either works.

4) Same comment as for spam above... If people want to be stupid, then it's on them, but polls should by definition should have at least 1 option (or even 2). That's simply the point of polls, being able to vote. Else it's not a poll... Or maybe make it so that if you post a poll with no vote option, then it'll just show as a regular thread. But the first solution makes more sense to me, with like a warning popping up when you try to submit it, telling you your poll must have at least 1 or 2 options.

That doesn't sound like such a good idea to me. Also, you may send a PM that you DID want to send and all, but right after you realize something is wrong with it, or that it needs to be updated etc...

Also, while we're there, I suggest the ability to delete a PM that hasn't been read... So the recipient doesn't even see the useless/outdated/whatever PM at all. (example: you send a PM asking for help about something, then find the answer you were looking for somewhere else before the person could read your PM - so you just go and delete it)

And yeah, MSN addresses (and Yahoo ones, although I don't use it) in profiles are long overdue...

Hmmm, I can't see the point...
However, some other forum system has it so that leaving your cursor over a thread title will display the beginning of the first message of the thread, which may be an interesting feature.

The "New" icons do the job just fine, no need for anything else in my opinion...

Then maybe you need to learn about the "Mark forum read" links... ¬_¬

Edit: Another feature request - add a "Photo" link in profiles for people who are in the Photo album. Or better than a mere link, a 60x60 pic that you'd have to click to get the enlarged version, just like in the Photo album.

Either that or just get rid of the rating system altogether... I think it's a really useless feature, like post radars...

There seems to be a problem with symbols or something...

For instance, try to edit this message (doesn't work if you try to quote), and look at this smiley: ¬_¬

Another one:

No more than one "edited by..." line. It's annoying to see messages with like 5 or 10 of those lines.
It'd be nice if there was only 1 edit line for edited messages, with a counter showing how many times it's been edited...
Example: (edited by Stifu [3 times])
And you'd be able to click the "3 times" link to make a pop up appear (for instance), detailing at what time each of the edits were done, for those who are interested... This way threads aren't polluted with useless edit lines.

Also, is there no way to display edit lines OVER people's background image ?

Posted on 08-18-05 12:52 AM, in Renaming PM folders ? Link
I can't rename PM folders on my board... It says the name has been updated and all, but nothing changes. Still the old name.

I'm using v1.A2. I guess there's something to fix in the privatefolders.php file... I compared that file with the one of v1.A3, but they're apparently identical, unless I missed something.

So, does anyone know how to fix this problem ?
I saw it doesn't happen here. I guess that got fixed in v1.B...

Yet another one: Some kind of flag icon displayed near topics you've already participated in. So you can see with a quick look in which topics you've already posted...

I forgot one: Having check boxes to disable smilies, board tags, HTML and stuff at the bottom, when posting and editing a message... Something similar to Ogre's hack.
