Are you saying that if you did a total overhaul of a game: lets say castlevania, using only YY-CHR and Stake, that wouldn't be a hack?

I don't think so. He didn't say that that wouldn't be a hack. He just said, "How often do you make a hack and never actually modify anything in a hex editor?", since hex editing was important in ROM hacking in the old times. It still is today, but it was a lot more during those times, I think. But what does this has to do with selfish ROM hackers or ROM hacking teams?

Nice HDMA effects there, Sgraff87. I suggest to try to make the clouds look more 16-bit-ish, since it looks a bit 8-bit. Also, try to make the Koopas that come out from their shells look a bit like when they are in their shells, walking. Like Bloodstar said, how are you going to make those platforms in the 3rd level of the 1st world and the boss in that level? Also, I think you should change the Goomba graphics. I think it looks weird. And make the red grass in the last screenshot green like the others.

In that case, if there is a red piece of grass, then the other pieces of grass in the group in which the red piece of grass is part of should also be red.

I can make an IPS patch for you. But first, do you want the green spring to replace the red spring, the green spring and red spring each to appear in different levels (like in SMB2j), or seperate objects (in which no patch that does so exists).

Of course, Ice [Angry] Man! I really loved the new GFX of your hack. It could be in fact one of the best SMW hacks if you released it with the fixes. Go for it, Ice!

EDIT: If your're pissed off, the Officer's Club is a great place to talk about your feelings.

EDIT 2: Hmmmm...who chose "No way, this hack sucks"?

I believe you're supposed to add a header to the ROM before you patch the hack. To do so, get SNESTool, select "Add header". Next, select the ROM you want to add the header to. Type "n" for both "Hirom file" and "Disable Static Ram". After that, then patch the IPS to the rom.

EDIT: Ice Man's post was made while I was making this post. But as suggested, you should try Lunar IPS instead, if that wasn't the IPS patching program you were using.

I'm not sure what "Zenpan" is, but the Zenpan things has to do something with blocks (and the 1st one also has to do with those platform sprites). But you've done a great job so far, Dcahrakos! I would look foward using this instead of the original Japanese one. Just wondering, but are you and Dan (and me, possibly ) doing this together?

If you are not using YY-CHR, get it here. Open it and select the NGPC rom you want to edit. Check if the "BPP" mode is "2BPP NGP". If it's not, then change it to "2BPP NGP". If the graphics still look a bit garbled, either you don't like the pallette the editor is using, or try clicking on the "+" or "-" squares until it look just right.

I'm pretty sure I can handle short chains. In fact, I think shortening the Koopa chains are just all right. How do you know this stuff, anyway? Did Ice Man let you beta test newer versions of the hack?

I think the step blocks are those stair blocks in SMB (example: the stairs in front of the pole in 1-1).

While your'e fixing Bowser's Return:

Try to make parts like that easier. That's also a pretty hard part in the hack. I admit that I had to use cheats to get this far, since I couldn't get past that Koopa chain in Crystal Mine 2 without cheats.

Hmmm....Should this be unstickied and replaced by a better one?
Something like this, but I don't think it'll be used, though :
If you want to make a request:
1. Read the stickies, search the web, or search the threads with Google (words you want to find and "site:board.acmlm.org") first to check if what you want already exists.
2. It's recommended that you have a good posting record
3. You should do it politely and nicely (i.e., thank you, etc.)
4. You should not do it rudely
5. Make it as detailed as possible
6. Make yourself sound as not "noobish", annoying, or obnoxious as possible
7. It is recommended that you are at least an intermediate hacker (not newbie) to post a request.

It is not recommended to request with a thread, though. You should request via PMs, email, AIM, or any other way of contact, instead, unless it is a level or GFX competition (or anything similar).

Oh, and the title to not have profanity like this one. But if this would be used, I'm pretty sure some things would need to be added or edited, though.
