Is there an SMAS editor? There's an editor for the individual games (smb2j?) Is there a way to combine the best of these editors into smas style. I've looked into the hex and the data is fairly the same for nes and snes style. I can go into the hex and edit it like that but it's a pain in the ass, plus I want other people to make their own games. I'm trying to feature smb the lost levels 2 for smb1, smb2c for smb2, and Mario Adventure for smb3. I'll totally remake smbll myself (Finished maybe in '06). Anyways... An early suggestion for if the editor ever does come out is to load all game data from the nes rom to each for the snes portion in smas. (except gfx) That is the major reason why I want this editor, for the enhanced graphics and for smbll. The game loader would be nice for those greatly hacked games like Mario Adventure, hence why it takes so long for me to finish this crap! I hope someone can help me. |

Such an editor would be complex. Play the game through and look at everything. Editing object and the ground could be tough. Creating all those events. And sprite placement, ouch! Plus I've seen posts that sm64 data is a bit encrypted and getting past that would be a nice challenge. This will one day come, our advances in gaming are phenominal. |

I know all about that, I enjoyed your hack so much that I want to feature it in smas for the enhanced graphics and music. I've started by going into the raw hex and finding what you've done, but this is no fun task. Besides, I said game DATA not LEVELS. I know you made a substantal amount of work for a game good enough to exist as a real cartridge game. What I suggested was to move all smb3 data to the smb3 portion in smas. That way it could cover everything you enhanced. Quit being so good at stuff By the way, I enjoyed your Warkitu, could you please make an ips so it can go on smb3. That would be nice. Or could you mention the offset(s) you changed to make this. I would go in myself and do it. Any help you can give I would enjoy! |

FLY UP! Seriously... BMF is right. The "wall triangle" (I think it's called) in LM is a 16x32 tile. Iy requires the proper ground tile shown under the triangle to support it. Nothing that a little ASM work wont fix. (edited by Spel werdz rite on 07-27-05 12:28 PM) (edited by Spel werdz rite on 07-27-05 12:37 PM) |

The title screen editor helps, but is there a way to make an animated pallete? If anyone ever played SMB2J on FAM, the 2 flashes like a question block. I would like doing that. -------------------- ________________________________________ One day the hack will come. A world of grass, fire, and ice. It will be known by many but only seen by some. |

I think you would have to get rid of some other smb3 features due to unstable expansion, I think. But if you want to give it a shot, you can use a corrupter to find which offsets make the wind in smb2j. | |||

I was contemplating on an idea to make rom dispatching legal. Couldn't someone just make some random hex with an nes header, then they can use an ips maker (I like lips), and create an ips from the random hex to a rom. (example) Make a some random data 000000: Must be NES header 000010: 00 21 4A EB 9A 77 3F F6 91 28 41 D3 47 EC 53 18 Save it as *.nes Open up lips and select this file as the ORIGINAL rom and use smb1.nes as the CHANGED rom, now there's smb1.ips! You can distribute *.nes and smb1.ips. I tested it with this and it works. If it's okay to distribute changes of an original game, is it legal distribute changes of some random hex that has a great resemblance to an original game? |

I once dreamed about a version of SMW. Thanks to LM (Lunar Magic [Sorry about being vage]) I am trying to make an SMW with what I remembered. I only saw the overworld and two stages in my dream. I will make what I remembered and just make up levels after that. Thus demonstrationg the beauty of ROM hacking. Endless possibilities. ________________________ One day the hack will come A world of grass, fire, and ice It will be known by many but only seen by some_____ (edited by Spel werdz rite on 07-28-05 12:28 PM) |

After accepting that I was a "n00b," I decided I would come here. And to assure I don't do anything stupid (a little late but I'll give it a shot) I'll give my info. Name: Nelson Garcia Age: 15 Sex: Male Race: Proud Mexican Talents: DDR (Max 300 AA Heavy), Stand-up comedy (Once but did good), ROM hacking (why I'm here), and Math (Nerd when I want to be). Written Profile: I have been playing video games before I could talk and I still haven't slowed down. I learned about ROM hacking in '02 and I've improved nicely, and I'm working with Hyrule Magic and Lunar Magic. I've played DDR for 5 years and lost a ton of weight. I took Calculus in Freshmen year. All I want is to make friends which is why I'm here. I have a flaw to make things worse when I try to be helpful. But I'll still try. Anyone want to tell me about themselves? DDR=Dance Dance Revolutiom Highscool Freshmen, not College I am making a SMW hack! It should be a good hack. I'm using BlockTool, graphics editors, and all those nice little hacks you find. It will be the first of ten hacks. I want to distribute all ten hacks together so it may be a while. The first hack will be grass world. And after you beat it you will be given a code that you will need to play the next hack, that way it goes in order. And I doubt anyone will geuss the code. The probability of getting it right are: 1 in 1,208,925,819,614,629,174,706,176. (Said I was good at Math) And if a hex dude finds out what it is (Even then I've made it difficult) well then good for them. The first one should be done in December. I'll give it out as soon as possible. (edited by Spel werdz rite on 07-28-05 01:49 PM) (edited by Spel werdz rite on 07-28-05 01:56 PM) |

Did you do this before or after Fu's Demo World. Maybe he can help you with the bug work. Of course, I found no bugs and I LOVE IT!! Work like this is what make hacking SMW so wonderful. |

If it's cool to add a suggetion how about the classic poison mushroom? Maybe a reverse mushroom. If you eat it, the controls are reversed. Left is right, up is down, B is A, and vise-versa. It would last throughout the level. |

Do you know ASM? Not much, I have an hex editor, but the best thing I've ever done was cloning smb level/enemy data and putting it into smas. The offsets in smas are different in smb so it isn't as simple as cut and paste. I am looking for a corruptor program (changes hex values randomly) to find addresses for whatever, but all that I have download just makes me hitting Ctrl+Alt+Del alot. Do you know a place to find one. I have Win XP if that makes a difference. Does anyone know a link to give some info about asm I want to get a little detailed with zelda 3, smb1-3, smas, and of course SMW. One more thing, how do you host a site for .ips files. A made a hack of SMB1 where the Pirhana plants come out of the pipe even if you're next to it or standing on it. There's a hack that makes the pirhana plants come up if you're next to it but not standing on it, and I used that as a base. Can someone help me out. |

______________________________________________________________________ I can't imagine anyone being sued over a patch that contains 32K of the code of a 2MB ROM. And if Nintendo cared about us using their graphics in hacks, they'd have done something by now.__________________________________________________ That's exactly what I was stressing about the whole time. You seem to be the first person in this whole thread to realize that! |

Insect, did you use an editor or go into the game with a hex editor. I'm trying to find the offsets for smb3 in smas and if you know where they are, you could be a great help to the hack I'm working on. (edited by Spel werdz rite on 08-20-05 03:24 AM) |

To prevent starting a new thread, I thought I could ask a somewhat related question, block 2 (allows you to move in all directions but block's you from going up) doesn't work so perfectly for me. When I bring Mario into it, he falls straight down. Does this happen for anyone else? If I put this block on the ground, Mario falls through the ground and he dies. Is there a way to fix this. |
